This may seem random but I grew up in the church and thought that was the whole religion just going to church every Sunday and eventually stopped going and started to do my own thing. I wanted to find the purpose of life because I knew everything we worked for would pass away. I was looking at all the religions unbiasedly, looking historically so I wouldn't have blind faith. Later on I had a tug on my heart to open up the Bible and saw the Jesus people talked about was completely different from what was in the Bible. I started to draw closer to the higher power and had a supernatural encounter with him and I felt his love and peace and was indescribable and overwhelming almost but was out of this world and everything looked brand new like it was the first time seeing it when I looked outside literally. I wasn't expecting the encounter either and was shocked when it happened. (I don't do drugs or alcohol) His name is Jesus and I’m here to tell you it’s about a relationship not religion and he is real and did die on the cross for you willingly and thinks you as the only person and was thinking of you while dying. You don’t have to believe my experience you can seek yourself, I suggest you start in the minimalistic facts of the resurrection because if the resurrection is false than Christianity is false. All we chase in this life is temporary think about your eternal life.
Salvation is not Us professing anything. Everyone professes a Creator, mother nature, God, all powerful thing exists. Romans 1. The simple matter is Hitchens here wasn't drawn by God to be given to Christ in Salvation. God rejected him and left him to his debased mind. John 6, Romans 1, 1 Cor1:18, 2:14, 12:3. HItchens remained in the curse. Thats the sum of his life.
If a god exists then people need to be saved and forgiven by god because people are victims of existing and unfortunately being the flawed and fallible way that god created them and the flawed and fallible way that god created people is the peoples fault.
@@AnonymousWon-uu5yn God created people with free will (not created infallible by the way). He could have created worshippers who would never question, doubt or reject but He wanted us to freely choose to love Him. That means, we also have the free choice to reject Him. He wouldn’t want to force anyone to believe in Him or be with Him on earth or in heaven after death…We choose that. The Bible says, “A fool says in his heart there is no God” (Ps 14:1, 53:1). It also says, “And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men love darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19). Jesus said, “I am the way, the Truth, and the Life…no one comes to the Father but by me (John 14:6). The choice is yours. His door is always open! “Ask, and it shall be given to you, seek, and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.” (Matt. 7:7, Luke 11:9)…””Choose you this day whom you will serve. As for me and my house…we will serve the Lord” Joshua 24:15.
Interesting that he says, "I'm not allowed to bring a lawyer." 1 John 2:2 says, "My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." So we can bring a lawyer, a defense attorney who fully understands the law and gave His life to ensure that the charges against us don't stand. So you're allowed to bring a lawyer. Christ died to be your lawyer. But Hitchens rejected the ONLY lawyer who can ensure the charges are dropped while complaining that he's not allowed to have a lawyer.
If only it were so simple. Remember that every atheist would never want to be with God anyways. If they were honest, then there should be a sense of relief that the Bible were true, and that they could reject God 1 last time to his face. The good news is that God will put us to the side, and make the non-Christians kneel before him, and declare himself to be our God.

”Supposing there was no intelligence behind the universe, no creative mind. In that case, nobody designed my brain for the purpose of thinking. It is merely that when the atoms inside my skull happen, for physical or chemical reasons, to arrange themselves in a certain way, this gives me, as a by-product, the sensation I call thought. But, if so, how can I trust my own thinking to be true? It’s like upsetting a milk jug and hoping that the way it splashes itself will give you a map of London. But if I can’t trust my own thinking, of course I can’t trust the arguments leading to Atheism, and therefore have no reason to be an Atheist, or anything else. Unless I believe in God, I cannot believe in thought: so I can never use thought to disbelieve in God” -C.S. Lewis.
Upsetting a milk jug is resulting in entropy…not exactly the same as the mechanisms for nerve transmission in the mind although some entropy is produced with thought.
@MultiCII is not exactly a refutation of Lewis point. Mind you, Lewis was a fervent atheist and scientist before his conversion near the end of his life. He spent an entire lifetime grappling with these questions before coming to a conclusion. You've just perused a few youtube videos. People like Hitchens still to this day have never countered any of his arguments because they themselves believe that, yes, they can trust their brain despite their belief being created by entirely random forces. They implicitly trust the idea that random chemicals and neurons firing is enough justification to trust it or these random events explain something as complicated and immaterial as thought and reason. They've never been able to provide a scientific rationale for why ideas of non material existence like morality exist. They say evolutionary theory gives way to that? But evolutionary theory is a concept where the strong devour weak. There's a reason atheistic 'scientific' facistic regimes developed soon after Darwins ideas.
No, what are you trying to say. You cant equate spilling milk to the complex neurochemical interactions that produce thought. We know from neuroscience that stimulating a particular part of the brain or depressing particular types of neurotransmitters can change a persons thoughts, personality, cause fear, it can even make someone sexually deviant. This shows thought is clearly a product of physical -chemical occurrences that evolved throughout different species to reach the complex level humans have now. Nonsense. Did a person commit a murder or not? How do we decide? By examining evidence. Where there is no solid evidence-merely claims and hearsay which do not align with reality-we should disbelieve such claims. The same would be true for belief in any deity if only people weren’t indoctrinated to believe that their religions are correct.

@@stunns2003 In my view, individuals often rely on belief systems to seek security and meaning in their lives. I believe this attachment to beliefs stems from psychological conditioning influenced by society, family, and culture. The notion of a "malevolent character" offering an alternative vision can be seen as an external force attempting to manipulate people through fear or desire. I advocate questioning and resisting such manipulation. I hold a critical stance towards organized religions and ideologies that demand unwavering commitment. I contend that such commitments often lead to conformity, division, and conflict. From my perspective, societies built on rigid belief systems inherently foster division. The concept of an "alternate vision" would be considered another form of conditioning, and I encourage individuals to break free from all forms of conditioning, including the imposition of new belief systems.
Nothing simple about believing provably false nonsense unless you are simple. That there was no Adam and Eve is now a settled matter, they never existed. This means the New Testament is also fatally flawed. There was no original sin for Christ to die to have us forgiven for.
But why would he if he does not believe in God, any god? And if he did it just in case (Pascal’s Wager) then what sort of God wouldn’t see through that? And why does it matter to an all-knowing, all-seeing, all powerful God what any mortal might think of him, when that God gave that man the power of free-thought? That God sounds contemptible, vain and churlish and not worthy of anything but derision.

When Hitchens said he'll tell God that he wasn't able to gain any understanding from the claims made by God's "spokespersons," I thought of when Jesus told of the rich man burning in hell, and he see's Abraham and Lazarus in the distance -- Lazarus had been a poor, crippled beggar who laid at the gate and begged. He was so crippled and weakened that the dogs would come and lick his sores. The rich man begged Abraham to send Lazarus to put a drop of water on his tongue, for he was in agony in the flame. Abraham said there was a great chasm fixed between them and him, and it wouldn't be possible. So the rich man begged Abraham to send someone to tell his 7 brothers about this place. But Abraham told the rich man, "If they didn't believe Moses and the prophets, they won't beliieve even if someone returns from the dead." Sad. This life is so brief, and we are all sinners and need to repent and receive Jesus, our only hope of spending eternity with a holy God.
This is spot on. I think Hitchens wanted God to come down with a loud voice or with fire and brimstone in order to believe Him. But have many times did God do that and people still didn't believe? The people of God were looking at the cloud by day and the pillar by night, saw the red sea part in front of them and later saw an entire Egyptian army die in the same sea, and yet the still did not believe God. At the end of the day, belief and acceptance of God is a matter of choice internally, whether you see Him or not.

I am sorry, when I die, and IF I am wrong, I will be asking him more questions than he will ask me! He is not worthy of worship, IF he exists.
Forty years ago, I walked into a pub, and a friend said he had become a Christian, and I thought "crank". He told me about a man who had been given one week to live, due to liver disease, brought on by alcohol. Ken, the afflicted, went into a park, burst into tears, and shouted: " Jesus Christ, if you heal ne, I will preach your word!! ". The pain went, and he was later told by doctors that he had been miraculously healed...My friend Ralph was duly converted, and I duly fell to my knees and asked forgiveness - BANG, I was baptised in the fire of The Holy Spirit, and I knew, in a few seconds, God is REAL. Atheists, PLEASE take note...
Atheists have indeed taken notice that Christians often give themselves license to lie to non-believers about these kinds of "miracle" healings. We take notice that your god somehow feels he needs to perform a cheap conjuring trick in order to win your faith. Meanwhile, the Atheist is also aware that your friend chose to believe in god because he had nothing to lose. Pascal's wager? He did not do so because IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO (according to your own religion) but rather, you did so out of a wish to gain god's favor...or to avoid divine punishment. Hardly any morality on display here...by either god or your dying friend. And yes, the Atheists always take note that your god didn't bother to save your friend from his affliction in the first place, saying much more about your pretend friend in heaven than your pretend friend here on earth.
What hogwash - he did not reject anything or anyone. He was just asking for proof. None of the believers ever was able to do so. And even worse. Believers make extraordinary claims that would require extraordinary evidence but that would require real work - much easier to throw in some platitudes like: You must have faith - no, no I don't especially if this faith requires me to let my critical faculties go for a hike, I don't. Or: God works in mysterious ways - so do I if I am drunk enough. To say it with Hagrid: Codswallop

According to one story of his last words, Voltaires response to a priest at his deathbed urging him to renounce Satan was allegedly… "Now is not the time for making new enemies." However, if you fact check this quote it’s fake as it actually originated from a joke first published in a Massachusetts newspaper in 1856, and was only attributed to Voltaire in the 1970s. Moreover, Voltaire actually died in 1778 - yes? But atheists, bless them, get little cheapies out of the thought that Voltaire was one of their own and sold his soul to the Devil - right? That is they get a SUPERIORITY COMPLEX over left wing fairytales that Voltaire sold his soul to the god of automatons and the god of materialism and scientism. He clearly wasn’t an atheist!! No one really knows what he said near his death. Apart from…. On the 28th of March 1778, only a few months before he died he wrote these famous lines to his secretary Wagnière : “I'm dying worshipping God, loving my friends, without hate for my ennemies and with detestation of superstition” [Voltaire]. Near the end he clearly made his peace with God and his enemies whilst suffering with illness. Suffering seems to do that. It gives people a good kick up the backside and rattles them from their teenage sophomoric stupor. That’s the paradoxical nature of reality and redemption. In fact it was actually theologians who coined the phrase “God of the Gaps” to deal with superstition and the devout Christian Sir Francis Bacon the father of the modern scientific method was seminal in promoting secularism. Moreover, it strikes me that a strictly reductive materialism, atheism or philosophical naturalism is a sort of peasant superstition of our age! The sinner in hell today IS already serving some of their eternal term in great torment, awaiting his final sentence of eternal solidarity confinement in the lake of fire! Several books will be opened containing ALL the sins of unrepentant criminals! The books will be opened, the judge will be seated, and since judgement is set at death, they will be judged for every thought, word, and deed done in the body!! ALL of these crimes still on their records because they REJECTED the payment with unbelief and abominable living before a thrice holy God, and whoever rejects the payment for sin through Christ, MUST pay for their own sins in hell! And despite the sinner paying for the works of iniquity that they had pleasure in on earth all throughout eternity, they will always remain in default! Justice!!! When he says, "I won't try anything servile", I find that amusing & ignorant. When Isaiah fell on his face before God (Isaiah 6:5), he said, "Woe is me, for I am undone, for I am a man of unclean lips & I have seen the King". Nothing servile? Really?
@@JordanST-n7r There is no proof of God. Show me proof and I’ll believe. But proof of anything supernatural doesn’t exist. I’m as certain God isn’t real as I am Leprechauns aren’t.
Very interesting! The key words are "I'm not going to try anything servile" even if he is face to face with God. That is a his heart / pride issue. He knows there is no scientific explanation for the existence / fine tuning of the universe, or the beginning of life on this planet. He is simply not open to God because he will not be servile. If you soften your heart and are open the possibility of God being right, you can find God.
In almost every case disbelief is at the heart of the person rather than the absence of evidence? Really? That is a pretty bold statement. How do you know? I'm sorry but bisbelief is not a choice. It's either or.
My favourite Christopher Hitchens quote is very revealing and was to the effect that if he (CH) could magically disappear religion he wouldn't because he enjoyed the debate too much. He said this to Dawkins who did not like this comment.
I'll Bet he didnt Try to say that Ignorant statement to the Lord when he first saw him, he Sure Does know Now, the Fool has said in his heart there is no God
A truly evil person will be uncomfortable around God, I don't think Hitchen's was uncomfortable. I've watched nearly every debate and every life story of Hitchen's, I can say 100% that Hitchen's brought me to Jesus. He might not have liked that when he was alive. But I am sure he is okay with it now.
This is absolutely disgusting. You are essentially saying that anyone who has skepticism and doubts against God have it not for intellectual reasons, but because of some sort of moral failure. I have studied religious studies for 20 years. I wrote my master thesis on religious belief. I teach religion in class. I’ve gone to church and I’ve prayed. And I’m still skeptical, and I still have my doubts. Does this make me a bad person? Or having a moral flaw? Because I have yet to find convincing evidence to bring me to their side? This is just another way of ignoring reasonable criticisms of your religion.
No it doesn't make you bad to have doubts. You have a free choice to believe what you want. Personally I believe and have experienced His goodness, have seen people prayed for get healed and see His hand in every living thing.

It lasted about 10 seconds and the chill went away. You atheists can’t tell me that wasn’t an act of God. Not saying you should up and believe my story right away. And another situation before this one i told you about happen that lead me to believe jesus is our savior. You atheists should be doing the same. @@alexcajiao7489 that you are able to jump from 'jesus was real' to 'jesus was the divine son of god, who died and was ressurected from the dead' is where your fault lies.
The part Hitchens miss is this: Pascal wager serves mainly as a challenge to atheists logic. Once you understand atheism is irrational, then you can turn to God and ask sincerely for a DIRECT revelation that would answer your deepest doubts. Upon this sincerity you are saved without relying on the ideas of men but by God's grace given to you unmediated.
So creepy... "DIRECT revelation"...there are several people on TV every morning at about 5am that relay directly from god how much money "HE" wants you to donate. Apparently we still live in the dark ages.
People like you scare the ever living sh*t out of me. I feel safer around atheists, they are almost always more kind, rational, intelligent, and empathetic. But most importantly, they aren't prone to incomprehensible, irrational violence because they interpret a sign from an imaginary being that they must simultaneously profess to love, appease, worship, and fear. I don't blame you for believing as you do, not really, it's not your fault. It's your parents, and their parents before them. But mainly it's the religious charlatans, and hucksters calling themselves priest, reverend, rabbi, and imam that are to blame for creating credulous humans that will believe almost anything at all, without any evidence whatsoever. These subhumans even mock their victims openly by calling themselves shepherds, and their prey, sheep; as they fleece them of their money, sanity, and go on to sexual abuse their children. All this done, while being tax free, and insulated from blame by their religious institutional infrastructures that are embedded like Lyme disease ridden ticks in modern society. Yes, I think the world could do without engineered lunatics who think like you, created by these monsters, and that that state of the world cannot get here soon enough.
There are a couple of issues with pascals wager. How do you know you have belief in the right religion? After all if you choose the wrong one you may be in trouble. Religion is usually based on culture and geography. Surely it is unfair for a god to punish individuals because they have been born and brought up as highly influenced children in a region where another religion is the norm. If God is all knowing, surely he would see through an individual who is only believing in him because it is better than an alternative as opposed to true faith. Pascals wager is a very weak arguement for belief in religion. The whole arguement is based on the premise that believing in God is surely better than hell if you are wrong. The definition of a cult is "an organised group whose purpose is to dominate cult members through psychological manipulation and pressure strategies". This sounds like pascals wager to me.
@@aaronfunnell5220 It's not that some believers are simply trying to consciously cover their butts or trick god. It's that religious societies impose conscious fear of everlasting torture (read all the comments) to create and maintain the belief...either way, in both instances, the belief is based purely on self interest. Since religion is fear based belief of a god without evidence (again, read all the comments), you would think that an all knowing god would appreciate one of his flock had intelligence and a spine. Mistake #1, thinking heaven is the same as earth. For many of us, it is not until the “hour of our death” that we realize that we are taking nothing from this earth with us. Not even our bodies. It’s in those moments in which you MUST accept God. It’s in those moments in which God can make you feel the pain that you’ve caused others and ask you one last time to humble yourself. You misquoted 2 Corinthians 5:10. That judgement is only for Christians and other believers of the first resurrection and is for the purpose of rewards. The Great White Throne Judgement, which is the final judgment, is for non-believers in the second resurrection and is done for the purpose of condemnation. Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence, earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15

Rom 1:18-25: « The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking and darkened in their foolish hearts. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images of mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the desires of their hearts to impurity for the dishonoring of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is forever worthy of praise! Amen. »

2:06 “Not going to try anything servile”…. I feel like that says so much. The God of the Bible wants people to come to Him admitting their lowliness, not their intellect. It’s a shame that this apprehension was not upon him at the time of this interview. Humility goes a long way, it seems, and it seems like CH was arguing against humility here, am I wrong to say so?
You are wrong. He was arguing against mindless faith. Follow the crumbs, Hansel, and you too can be lead away from the seemingly tasty house that is the lair of religion.
He only wants a god in his own terms. C. S Lewis says in his book The Great Divorce :""There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, in the end, 'Thy will be done.'"
Hitchens was a wonderful man who was hated by religious people of many faiths for exposing how obscene, ridiculous, and dangerous religions are. He will never be forgotten for his wonderful contributions to humanity.
Christopher Hitchens had more understanding of religion in his pinky than the whole religious repertoire of any religious person I've ever met or heard

The Lord Jesus - if he exists - better be able to answer a few tough questions when he meets Hitch. Rephrasing Dawkins: If you are invited to debate Christopher Hitchens, don't.
God gives us a lifetime to believe Jesus Christ died for us. That is the only requirement to get into heaven. To believe that Jesus spilled his blood for all of us, and pay for all our sins, so we can enjoy paradise. Why that is so hard for atheists to do is beyond my level of common sense. They will recognize the devil before even thinking about believing in God.
Christopher has mentioned in an article that he had a normal relationship with his father, only that his father was a man of few words, had a good alcohol tolerance and was very old fashioned. Having a bad father figure very rarely leads to atheism. Atheism means not trusting ludicrous claims because "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence". It's often true (but not always) that GOOD parental relationships lead to atheism, because if you have good parents, they won't try to religiously condition you because no good person does that to their own vulnerable child. Bad parenting doesn't lead to atheism, good parenting does.
@@junacebedo888 No. I was talking about the definition of good parenting, and claimed that good parents are the ones who don't indoctrinate their children with their own opinions and dogmas (specifically religious dogmas). Perhaps I was not clear enough
It's interesting to know that when late Hitchin's stands before God on judgment day, he will realise that apart from the fact that God is all powerful, He is also smarter. Just see how Jesus won all the arguments/ traps He was faced with.
How do you know? Because your pastor told you so? Your priest? Your bishop? The same guys who have no qualms to abuse children, women, and the "other" alike? And who told them? A little voice in their deluded brains? The ones who claim to worship an omnipotent being that needs their help? Me thinks the people who put on robes and white collars and call themselves reverends and fathers and such and boldy claim to know the unknowable for sure- and make a pretty good living with that - could do with huge shovels of hubris me thinks.
Would Hitchens agree that anything he created he had sovereign control over? If it related to His total control, I dare say yes. If it related to someone else having total control over Him, I dare say no. Can you say hubris? Pride was satan's problem also. Christ humbled Himself to death, death on a cross. God (Christ), was the example to us of humility and service. They have done EVERYTHING for us. The Father gives us the faith and calls us. Jesus paid for our sins on the cross. The Holy Spirit is given to us at regeneration which gives us the Power to follow Christ. What a Savior, what a Lord!
Somewhat reductive view of religion don't you think? Hard to have a debate with Christians if you don't really know what religion is. You just come across as a tool, as Hitchen did repeatedly in addition to misquoted the bible almost everytime he was on a stage. The problem with Hitchens is that he never seemed to argue in a way to convince theists, which is the entire point of a debate, instead he just kept playing to his own crowd. Ironically, Hitchens may gave created more Christians in his lifetime. A resurgence in Christianity is happening now.
@@crashtestdummy2337 there is no resurgence of christianity; the opposite is occurring. Many have testified that the writings and words of Hitch caused them to walk away from religion so it's complete bullshit to even suggest he created more christians, and as an ex-christian myself, I can confirm that Hitch did not in fact misquote the bible. You want a reductive view of religion? Initially designed to explain natural phenomena and create subservience in the masses, it maintains somewhat popular following today because people are afraid of the totality of death. That's it. That's religion - ALL religion - in a nutshell.
@crashtestdummy2337 cant reason people out of what they weren’t reasoned into. If they didn’t join the religion they are in due to evidence, their is no evidence that can be given to change their mind. If you need faith to believe in something, you dont have enough evidence.

That's how every intelligent human should respond to such a question. But there's absolutely no evidence to suggest he's wrong, and the universe works perfectly well without the need to invent a god that you should give money and power. The reason he claims that he isn't sure is because he can not 100% disprove that any religious diety doesn't exist but based on the historical, scientific and archaeological evidence it is extremely unlikely. I have yet, in my 51 years as a Christian, to have met a single Christian who believes on that basis. I too share Christopher Hitchens's contempt for the intellectual laziness and dishonesty of Pascal's Wager.
I, like you, do not subscribe to the Wager as the path to salvation (true salvation doesn't work that way), but it is food for thought in that it points out the fact that only the atheist is at risk. IOWs, if I, as a Christian turn out to be wrong, and the atheist is right, I live my life with the comfort, strength, and joy of my false belief until I die in peace, and cease to exist. I lose nothing. If I'm right (which I am) then I get to live this good life, now, PLUS an infinitely better new life of eternal bliss after. I win either way. On the other hand, if I'm right, and the atheist wrong, his loss is horrendous, but if he is right he gets to live in nihilistic misery, now, enduring whatever purposeless suffering comes to him until he goes off into oblivion, after. The atheist has everything to lose, and absolutely NOTHING to gain. I would literally rather be roadkill, than to be an atheist, and even if I were an atheist, I would promote Christianity simply for the benefits and comforts it affords. After all, what's the point of taking away people's hope and comfort if the atheist's meaningless worldview is true, anyway?
@Daniel-b6s That's it? That's your big attack on the Bible? Some scribe got some numbers off? I expected something far bigger than that. I'm the last person to say that the Bible has been perfectly transmitted to us in the 21st century English speaking world. That doesn't invalidate the basic precepts of the scriptures, though. Have you ever even bothered to look into how we got the Bible today? There has been and continues to be much debate on certain MINOR points, but the core principals of Christianity found in scripture are plain and consistent throughout, and are considered orthodox doctrine by all major denominations. Are you that critical with other ancient documents...or modern ones, for that matter? I've found typos and minor errors in MODERN textbooks that used modern equipment and technology to produce, yet the bible authors had to painstakingly copy the scriptures by hand with primative pens and ink by oil lamp light. I think they did a pretty remarkable job, all things considered. You do know, being the eminent Bible scholar that you are, that NO ONE TODAY possesses the original autographs, right? The originals no longer exist, or, if they do, they've been lost. We must make do with very excellent, though slightly flawed, COPIES of those original autographs. Flaws that do not compromise essential basic orthodox Christian doctrine in anyway. As for your gotcha about God tempting people to do evil, that is true, and no Christian I know of is confused by that. He does use Satan to tempt people, though, as is seen in the temptation of Christ by Satan in the Gospels. So if Satan is carrying out something that God wills to happen, like the temptation of His Son, it can be said that it's coming from God, since it is His will. But NO, God doesn't directly tempt anyone. Also, the word TEMPT in old English, like some words even in modern English has more than one sense in the Bible. In one sense it means to entice someone to sin, while in another sense, it means to try or test someone with some sort of adversity. God does do that. What's wrong with David doing a census? The most obvious answer is because Almighty God TOLD HIM NOT TO. If you were a good man, you would stop right there. That should be a good enough reason for you. God said NO, PERIOD. God doesn't have to explain His reasons to us puny sacks of dirt. However, the obvious problem was David getting the big head because of how powerful he was militarily. The US is like that, no? All fighting aged men of Israel were automatically part of the army, back then. David was proud of his army, and God hates human pride. God knew, as David should have, that David's power was in God, not his army. And, your claim that Israel's army couldn't be a certain size, back then, is just an assumption on your part. You weren't there, so you have no way of knowing. You're just exercising FAITH in the written words of man, which is, ironically, what your ilk accuse us Christians of doing. Even if that accusation was true, then it would only mean that it was just our HUMANS' words against your HUMANS' words.
@Daniel-b6swithout the Holy Spirit you will never understand the Lord. You can’t interpret scripture by your understanding. 1 Corinthians chapter 2 explains this to you. You must have the mind of Christ which is Holy Spirit. Otherwise you wander in the wilderness.
@Daniel-b6sDavid was to rely on the strength of God and not by the might of a census of how many men he had. By the insight of God he won every battle he faced.

Once you’ve destroyed your belief, then there will surely be some malevolent character offering you an alternate vision that requires your religious unwavering commitment.
Demons(iow fear) are the created vanguards of religion. Thus an "atheist demon" is an impossibility, an oxymoronic term...all demons must believe in god or they wouldn't exist...they play THE essential part in the myth...without the devil, religions are meaningless and unnecessary.
All he had to do was humble himself, repent and receive Jesus Christ sincerely, and God would receive him into heaven. It's as simple as that.
Nothing simple about believing provably false nonsense unless you are simple. That there was no Adam and Eve is now a settled matter, they never existed. This means the New Testament is also fatally flawed. There was no original sin for Christ to die to have us forgiven for.

The audacity of those here who claim Hitchens was blinded by logic (what a ridiculous premise), that his pride damaged his soul, that when speaking the hypothetical to its logical conclusion that he was actually crying out to god, that he refused to believe in god so he could do what he wanted, that he believed he was or wanted to be god etc etc are close-minded people who refuse to put their beliefs to any test of logic or empirical evidence.
Hitchens was a brilliant man who is sorely missed. He stood on the shoulders of past giants of reason, and few were his contemporary equal.

A great quote has been attributed to many sources, but it’s fantastic nevertheless. A dying man, when asked by a priest if he will renounce satan, replies, “I don’t think now is the time for me to be making enemies.”
Voltaire.
@GuitarGuy057 well it is attributed to Voltaire but there's some doubt as to whether it was him.
Too bad he didn't realize that (((S)))) was never his friend!
@@GuitarGuy057 Really? I thought it was Bertrand Russell. thank you.
According to one story of his last words, Voltaires response to a priest at his deathbed urging him to renounce Satan was allegedly…
"Now is not the time for making new enemies."
However, if you fact check this quote it’s fake as it actually originated from a joke first published in a Massachusetts newspaper in 1856, and was only attributed to Voltaire in the 1970s.
On the 28th of March 1778, only a few months before he died he wrote these famous lines to his secretary Wagnière :
“I'm dying worshipping God, loving my friends, without hate for my ennemies and with detestation of superstition” [Voltaire].
Militant atheism is a walking ball of self contradiction and cognitive dissonance!!

You don't know how creepy you sound.

He did us a great kindness expelling us from Paradise, for history has proven, time and again, that the better things get; the WORSE we get. We're spoiled brats.
You had better beg HIS forgiveness before it's too late.
Repent and believe the Gospel. Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.
@AnthoniePerez.94 -- Which specific god are you speaking of?
Because the Abrahamic gods DO cause and even Command people to Kill.
Honest question: have you read whatever books you were told were the true "word of god"? Most god believers never do. Instead, they go to their place of worship and have the nice, handpicked parts, read TO them. Then, they blindly believe.
Face it, religions LIED to all of us.
I do believe it's reasonable for an individual like Hitchens to say 'look, I just don't get it', and that the human representatives of God can be SO miserably bad at their job to evoke that sentiment.
He didn't want to get it. I get it, but he's supposed to be the genius?
What God asks is for his creation to believe what he says about his son.
Past that he has a whole book about him.
■■■ DON'T BLAME GOD for RELIGION.
You do know the Bible isn't signed.
When Dawkins was asked recently by Piers Morgan that doesn't he know that he could be wrong all the while. Richard Dawkins held back a little and simply answered that yes, he could be wrong. So he's relying on uncertain
That's how every intelligent human should respond to such a question. But there's absolutely no evidence to suggest he's wrong, and the universe works perfectly well without the need to invent a god that you should give money and power.
But wait you can't give your money to the imaginary god directly, you must go through his intermediary here on earth, the priests, who are themselves nothing more than charlatans, frauds, and hucksters making their living off the stupidity of the credulous who believe such nonsense.
I can understand believing this stuff as a child, when your head was all soft and you still believed in Santa, unicorns, and dragons, but shouldn't you people have outgrown this fantasy stuff before you became adults?
The reason he claims that he isn't sure is because he can not 100% disprove that any religious diety doesn't exist but based on the historical, scientific and archaeological evidence it is extremely unlikely. He is therefore making his claims based on probability and evidence as opposed to blind faith.
Its the same with religion.. and more so actually...just that aethists openly agree that they cant be 100% sure.
@@forestshade9451 LOL. Atheism is a religion! By the way, no religion is making a claim that they're 100% sure. We look at the evidences and trusts it because it's reliable! Atheists on the other hand are making a claim that it can't be a god, but they don't have evidences for any of that. Atheism is an irrational belief!
@@aaronfunnell5220True faith isn't blind. Its based on evidence. Bible prophecy is enerringly accurate for instance.
Your answer is in 2Kings 6:17
@Daniel-b6swithout the Holy Spirit you will never understand the Lord. You can’t interpret scripture by your understanding. 1 Corinthians chapter 2 explains this to you. You must have the mind of Christ which is Holy Spirit. Otherwise you wander in the wilderness.
@Daniel-b6sDavid was to rely on the strength of God and not by the might of a census of how many men he had. By the insight of God he won every battle he faced.
God is definitely real, created universe defined by time, space, and matter and governed by laws and Bible is true through Christ transforming people’s lives then and now. Don’t know why individuals are so stubborn, but God gives them the freewill to either love or reject Him. In Christopher Hitchens’ eyes, you can see that God is still working on his heart. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”- the things God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9
true.

He knows now. Don't be like him. Be honest with yourself and don't let pride run your life. You don't know everything and won't.
“I am not going to try anything servile.” His pride hinders him to repent and believe, as Jesus commanded. So sad. We face that calling and need to listen and obey, and flee to Christ.
