Pete, Your phrasing on your solo, with the Gibson 335 was absolutely amazing. So melodic and full of emotion. You are a true inspiration. God bless, and keep up the great demos. They truly help us make sound decisions on new gear acquisition.
Thanks Pete, its always a thrill when I get that notification " Pete Thorn has uploaded a video" Excellent as always , makes me pick up my guitar more then ever.
I bought one to try in a combo amp because of this video. Just got two more for a 2x12 cabinet. Outstanding demo and great all around speaker. If I had Pete's talent, they'd sound even better.
Pete has the internet covered! I was looking for info on these speakers and as soon as I saw Pete, I was like, "If this sounds good I'm sold" 7 years old and I chose this over any of those two chord chugging channels. Thanks for making this video for ME ! lol
Pete you always publish great gear videos. You show gear used in a variety of situations (stomp boxes especially) and you explain things well but you don't go overboard to where it starts to feel tedious. Thanks, man!
Just ordered a VT Jr to replace the stock Jensen in my 65 PRRI. I understand it's closely related and partially derived from this speaker. Can hardly wait for it to arrive! Thanks for the excellent demo, Pete. I love how you make this sound and the way you offer so many different sonic approaches in your videos!
If I see ONE dislike on this video, I have lost all hope for humanity. Pete, you continue to amaze me on your talent, song writing and demos. Keep it up!! That V-type sounds terrific btw. Any plans to incorporate these into your cabs for live gigs?
Pete, another great video! Seriously, when I hear you start tearing through some lead, I can't help but get an unstoppable grin on my face! I almost have to break into an air guitar solo with you! Best guitar demos on the internet. Period.
First saw and heard the V-Type in the new Fender Silver Face Deluxe Reverb. My first thought was, "Yeah, Fender got Celestion to give them a deal on some cheap speaker just to improve showroom appeal." Turns out that it is a pretty great speaker, very versatile and able to handle both clean and distorted tones. I was surprised too.
Thinking about buying that fir my mesa boogie F50, now that I've blown the G12T 75W that was in it. The GT12T 75W is/was quite bright and articulated, more of a metal music speaker matched to high gain available on the mesa. The funny thing is, though... my amp has a killer clean sound. And I play 50s strat fat single coils. I think the V series is a nice compromise between what was in it and a greenback sort of very warmed up darker sound. Excellent solo by the way. So uniquely styled. You sound like Pete Thorn!! Tasty
Man you are such a killer player and an awesome human. I love your videos and your real deal explanations of the gear. You don’t fluff anything and you really tell it how it is. Thanks for your talent!!!
Thanks, Pete. I just finished building a closed-back extension cab holding a G12T-75, from Ipswich, and was just fixin’ to plug it in when I noticed you had a video out on the subject. Stop the presses! This can wait. Wanna see this. Keep ‘em flyin’, amigo, and keep these videos coming. You’re eminently believable.
As much as I don't want to buy one.... That Bone sounds absolutely fantastic every time you use it . Speaker seems to be really rich and crisp, sounds good!
Billy Gibson uses a secret pedal, there's a UA-cam video about his "secret pedal". It's a guitar graphic equalizer pedal, he only bumps up the 400 slider. This makes the Celestion V type speaker put out some growl and punch and the speaker sound fuller. Behringer sells one for $25.
The V Type speaker I heard with more familiar amps sounded great. It's the Suhr amps I'm not so sure about. They sound very cold and harsh. PT's playing and guitars are as always stellar.
Pete makes anything sound good but this is the speaker that comes stock in the new Marshall DSL 40CR amp and I like many were not happy with it in that amp. I switched it out with an Eminence CV-75 and couldn’t be happier. Not a fan of this speaker at all. Just my opinion.
Great video as usual Pete, thanks.. I've been looking into this speaker since I heard you use it in the Celestion birthday video you did. How would you recommend in in a 60w 2x12.? Not sure if use two of them or mix that and like an A type and Mic up individually...
Im Stuck on the M75 Scumback 65 watt. Pete would the V type mix nicely in a Cab loaded with 2 Celestion G12M - 25 watters and a M 75 Scumback 65 watter beside it?? YOUR parts the beginning sound just Awesome so I'm dying to try this speaker!!!!
LOL I thought that Pete really let his hair grow out fast, then seen that this is 6 years old. I'm thinking that the Marshall Silver Jubilee has these speakers in them which sounded really good when I tried them. Trying to decide what you like in a speaker is hard when there are so many vids to listen to online 🤔
Pete, how does One Secure the "Hard Gasket" Celestion Cream Alnico to the Cabinet's Baffle Board? What is the Procedure...I'm sure it's a different procedure than the standard "Cork Gasket" Style Gaskets? Could you Please briefly Explain the Methodology?
Hey Pete, I'm very intrigued in your playing and how you demo the celestion speaker family.... I'm now interested in buying Celestion speakers I love the way both the A-type and the V-type speakers sound however, I wanted to ask someone who's actually played both selections to see which speaker would actually be best for me... I'm playing an older Peavey Scorpion amp has an open back the sound quality possess 4 different sounds it has crunch, distortion, digital reverb, and chorus. Which speaker would be the greater choice for me?
Terrance Myers Hi Terrance, if you find your amp bright, and would like to mellow it out a bit and get a beautiful clear tone, the A type... the V type for a great vintage British crunch with more of that upper mid edge that Celestions are known for.
Hi Pete, great video! Which one of these Celestion speakers do you prefer, V-type or A-Type? I would like to change the original fender speaker from my Hot Rod deville 2x12", but I don't know which one will work better with that amp. Thanks
Hi Pete! Love your demos!. I recently bought an Orange Th30 head and Im building a 2x12 mini slant cab, my budget it´s kinda short, would you recomend the V type as a v30 replacement, or an Eminence Governor would be a better choice? I´ve read a lot about the v30 being the perfect speaker for muy Orange but it´s kinda difficult for my right now to get those. Thanks!
I'm considering replacing one of the v30 in my ppc212 with a v-type, zilla made a video mixing v30 with tons of other speakers and the v-type complimented the v30 the best imho
HI! Pete ! Please can you tell me what Celestion Speaker you recommend me for my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, heard both your videos Type-A and Type-V. based in your preference what would you use in a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe? Thanks!
Pete Thorn Do you find it has a similar bass response to the greenback or maybe tighter? I have a Traynor YCV20WR with the greenback which I love but the bass is a bit flubby. Just wondering if this would improve things. Another question....do you think this would make a good 2X12 in conjunction with the A type you recently tested?
Pete,
Your phrasing on your solo, with the Gibson 335 was absolutely amazing. So melodic and full of emotion. You are a true inspiration. God bless, and keep up the great demos. They truly help us make sound decisions on new gear acquisition.
Just got one. Playing mine in a Vox AC4C1-12. Pretty cool!
The talent level on these demos is incredible keeps me practicing
Edwin Wise Yup. Me some too. 😎
Thanks Pete, its always a thrill when I get that notification " Pete Thorn has uploaded a video" Excellent as always , makes me pick up my guitar more then ever.
:) Thanks!

i was playing metal riffs through a peavey invective mh with this speaker and im in love, the combination just sounded amazing to me
Pete has the internet covered! I was looking for info on these speakers and as soon as I saw Pete, I was like, "If this sounds good I'm sold" 7 years old and I chose this over any of those two chord chugging channels. Thanks for making this video for ME ! lol
Listening to the intro, I forgot what I came here for. Nice playing, very nice!

brilliant as usual Pete
p.s.
the 335 is simply WOW!!!!!
it's a good one! :)

Not been of fan of Celestine, until now. I would usually go for Fane, Jensen, Altec, JBL, but the V here is quite nice.
As much as I don't want to buy one.... That Bone sounds absolutely fantastic every time you use it . Speaker seems to be really rich and crisp, sounds good!

I love his demo songs
Another great sounding speaker and the music so well played!
Great playing. And the v-type is the better v30 ( at least chinese ones )
Man... your music is always so beatiful... great work!
What 1x12 cabinet is that ?
I'm thinking of putting one into a Fender Blues Jr.
Great tones and playing Pete, your vids get better and better.

Gorgeous demo as always
Your playing is so inspiring
Makes me wanna practice more each time
Bless you :-)

Ça va j'enregistre c'est lent
Et toi ?
Oui pas de soucis :-)
Great demo and sweet playing, Pete!
God finally someone who does a gear review with a good mix and not just a lone butt rock pentatonic noodle fest
Great video . . . . . and awesome playing.
I just dicovered your cd "guitar nerd" and it is sooooo good!!!
Thanks for the vid. Speaker comparisons go as lot further toward helping us understand a speaker however.
Love this speaker Pete! It's my first choice on FROG Marquee MMCCIII, XXXVI and HItman 36.
Great Speaker \m/
Great review/demo and great speaker!!!
Cool demo! love the tones..the progression would make a great backing track
As always another well done video. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Reminds me of what I like about the Weber F12150 with a little more attitude. Thanks, as always.

Great video, thanks for taking the time. Would you recommend this to upgrade a hot rod DeVille stock speaker?
Yes it would be a good upgrade..

Excellent uploadDemo you made my mind up and imho vfm, cheers.
Beautiful music

Killer demo bro! You the man!

The amp is 2 12 combo
Terrance Myers Hi Terrance, if you find your amp bright, and would like to mellow it out a bit and get a beautiful clear tone, the A type... the V type for a great vintage British crunch with more of that upper mid edge that Celestions are known for.
ok thanx Pete Thorn I ordered the V-type and they sound great in my amp.
Ordered one. Cheers Pete
Can I ask what the bridge pickup is on that les paul @ 4:00? This sounds awesome, I need one =P
Hi Pete, great video! Which one of these Celestion speakers do you prefer, V-type or A-Type? I would like to change the original fender speaker from my Hot Rod deville 2x12", but I don't know which one will work better with that amp. Thanks
one of each
V type or A type for an old Deluxe Reverb?
Great demo as always.
SO TOP NOTCH PETE GREAT VIDEO,
Superbe, magnifique.Pete, The V-Type is most bright than the A-Type, no ?
Yes V type is brighter
Goddamn, man! Great demo. My new favorite. Thank you for this.
Love your videos! What's your thoughts on fitting this speaker into a VOX AC15C1?
Greetings from Gothenburg, Sweden // Martin
Man, those Gil Yaron guitars are incredible sounding.
Hi Pete! Love your demos!.
I recently bought an Orange Th30 head and Im building a 2x12 mini slant cab, my budget it´s kinda short, would you recomend the V type as a v30 replacement, or an Eminence Governor would be a better choice? Is this similar to the Marshall g12 heritage speaker from 90’s that celestion made for marshall? More low end less mids than a V30?
What microphones were used to record this demo? Great sounds man!
Pete, would these be close to the old G12M-70's that were in Marshall cabinets back in the 80s?
HI! Pete ! Please can you tell me what Celestion Speaker you recommend me for my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, heard both your videos Type-A and Type-V. based in your preference what would you use in a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe? Thanks!
I want to know as well!
Pete, what is the brown LP style in the video? It sounds great! -Frank
What kind of pickup do you have in the bridge of that sunburst strat? sounds great
Single 12, open or closed back? I wish there was a comparison to a Vintage 30. How would you describe the difference between the two?
It doesn't have the upper mid spike of the V30. Otherwise I find it somewhat similar! Maybe like a cross of V30 and Greenback
I’m looking for more bass and less mids and a nice Fendery clean than my v30 in an open back 1x12 cab will this do it?
For open back, go with the brother of this one.. the A type. It's meant for exactly what you describe
Do you know how to designate all the year of the speakers?
Pete, how many hours a day do you practice?
That 335.....!
What everyone has said already.
Zombie by The Cranberries maybe?
Don't you get tired of being awesome all the time? Seems exhausting
Dat 335 though...
Useless. Too much distortion and playing off the bridge. Ever think to play the neck pup and play clean so we can really hear the amp? This was lame.
Can't tell what the speaker really sounds like, as there's too much reverb.
I didn't really dig it, somehow too toppy, maybe it needs breaking in. Thanks anyway :-)
