Came in so late to this series but have just binge watched the lot. I owned a 1600 back in the day so I know something about them. Your example has come up wonderfully and your videos have brought back many happy memories. I hope you produce more videos to show us progress.
    Cheers from Sydney.

Great series. When I am looking for oil pressure on a new engine I usually spin the engine with the plugs out to get the oil pressure without too much battery discharge. It takes a little load off. I'm looking forward to see this completed. Great videos.

Alan Walker thanks Alan - good tip. I plan on giving it a run again soon as I have had the gauges calibrated and the water temp one refurbished

I'm 2 years late for this comment, but if you want yr water pump mounted fan to be closer to the rear of the radiator, why not ADD a spacer to the end of the pump drive with yr ORIGINAL pulley? I guess where you are, there's a preference for an electric fan.
Binge watching the rest of yr vids. My 1800 3-main is yet to fire in my 1959 Twin Cam body. And that engine was refurbished 18 months ago!
    Thanks for the ongoing encouragement.

Hi Rob - I can't remember the exact reason for not spacing it out as that would maybe have been easier than machining the hub. I think i just wanted to keep all the relative distances the same from the block and the fan. I'm glad you're enjoying the vids and it's given you encouragement with your project. My 2021 resolution is to get it driving and post some more videos of the progress!

I’ve filmed a few more bits of the project but sadly with moving house and kids I’ve not progressed it much in the last year. There will be future videos though Tony ;) Thanks for watching

I binge watched all the videos. I’m pumped to see the rest of the project unfold. I bought a ‘59 MGA in 1977. It had been refreshed but not restored at that point, being only 18 years old. I know exactly what the concerns are for heat through the plywood. The heat shielding will be a blessing.
Any plans to rebuild the wheels? Nothing sets off an MG like chrome spoke wheels.

John - I'm glad you're enjoying the series. Yes I agree the chrome wheels look good. I'm still ruminating over that decision as it didnt roll out the factory with chrome wheels but they look better. Sadly I've been quoted $800 per wheel to get them chromed so it will hurt the wallet too. I still have time to decide however as the project is still a long way from completion ;)

Well, you have my vote for chrome, anyway. A consideration: you could draw in hundreds of viewers, at least, with a series in which you disassemble, repair, chrome, relace and true the wheels.
