  • This is a Thai style clam recipe which uses aromatic herbs typically used in Thai Cuisine to create a flavorful, sour and spicy clam dish. Each clam is bound to be bursting with flavors of Thailand and is so delicious that one cannot stop eating. The plus points are that this dish is also low fat, gluten free and keto friendly.
    The humble clam is actually a very nutritious whole food which is rich in minerals, vitamins and omega-3 fatty acids. It is one of the most nutritious food in the world, is full of lean protein and low in calories. If eaten fully cooked and in moderation, it is definitely a dining table must have.
    Soft-shell clams which are known as steamers are naturally sweet with a hint of saltiness.
    Tips: choose clams that are
    1) Heavy for their size
    2) unchipped or unbroken
    3) not of open or ajar shells.
    Ingredients
    1kg of soft shell clams (a.k.a LaLa)
    25g of fresh galangal root
    1 fresh Thai Jinda red/ bird’s eye chilies (adjust to preference)
    3 garlic cloves
    2 lemon grass stalks
    1 stalk of coriander/ cilantro with roots
    3 TBSP kaffir lime juice/lemon juice
    5 kaffir leaves
    1/4 TSP fish sauce
    1 TBSP sesame oil
