    One main difference is that there are restrictions as to who can become a Costco member in the U.K. as there are rules required of a wholesale club which limits memberships to certain trades and professions unlike the US which is open to the general public.

    • @pjschmid2251
      @pjschmid2251 17 днів тому +1

      But if you have a membership from the US, you can still enter the store in the UK?

    For Americans opening the fridge door is just too much effort, no wonder they need extra wide trolleys! Lol

      I think the point of not opening the refrigerator door is not letting the cold out just to see what’s inside particularly if you’re making your shopping list. Especially since he’s in Florida 😂

    One of the reasons I enjoy the occasional visit to Costco in the UK is because it feels so similar to shopping while on vacation in the US. Especially the food items….the sizes of things, the brands and types of products. It’s like a little slice of the US in the UK 😊

    Any supermarket/general store that's bigger than the village in which I grew up, is simply too big for me!! 😅

    HI Mac, thanks for the comparison video. The US fridge freezers would not fit in my small UK kitchen. I love CostCo full stop. I visited one in Canada and apart from regional food differences everything was basically the same but they sold home brew and home winemaking supplies. Never seen those in the UK. I like that we can buy some US brands and I especially love CostCo at Christmas.

    I would not have expected the British TV selection to be better. I also didn't expect anything British to be bigger- like the cereal boxes, or detergent quantities. How do the baby formula prices compare?

    Hi Mac what I noticed at the pricing label they didn't put in brackets the price after tax ( none food items) ,do they not add tax in the Costco in America? Also you proved the old saying everything is bigger in the USA.😊

      Tax is calculated at the till, and it changes based on city, state, area, etc. You never know the true cost of sn item until you check out.

      Actually if you think about it Americans just need English to be a bit more descriptive. What we call glasses they call eye glasses. I guess they were just confused about which part of their anatomy they needed to put the glasses on so eye glasses tell them exactly where to put them.

    I don't know whether you've noticed this difference? But I always think the US meat - beef, lamb and pork - has a higher percentage of fat to lean than UK meat.

    Ive been shopping at this store since the mid-90's and the scanning of the card is a recent new thing over the past year or two! the size of goods have reduced in size by in my opinion by at least a third over and the prices have vastly increased also. as for price Costco are still cheaper and good quality in comparison with everything.... but I wish you could by more for your Pound Sterling these days...... Bring back the 90's style Costco where you could buy a Hotdog and Soda for 85p...... Great video and it's nice to compare the US Store to the UK. Best regards...
