If coat fantasies (or fantasy coats 😉) make you happy, go for it! You don't have to justify your choices to anybody. It's so lovely to see you happy and excited 😊
I'd never seen this vlog and I am just starting to do coats. I love the fact you have so many, but I have things that are very similar but there is something different about them all.
Another way to incorporate the brown/other color into that stunning olive green velvet coat re-make would be to make a matching hat, gloves, or scarf out of the brown and any little bits of the leftover green. Then you'd have a set!
Thank you for the mention! And you know I am more than happy to indulge/enable with the coat making! 😍 And I vote yes to the fantasy projects, they will be fabulous. Lynne 🤩☘️
If people can have overpriced, unwieldy coffee table books they barely look through, you can definitely own a whole bunch of coat patterns to look at and make you happy, whether you sew them up or not. Why should only one of these be socially acceptable?! And I’m totally in favour of indulging in some fantasy projects; they’re exciting!❤
I can completely understand your obsession with coat patterns and making up gorgeous coats! I am in the process of making that Butterick 6868 pattern for a client in a gorgeous red wool with an animal print faux fur for the collar, cuffs and pocket flap. It’s going to be lovely! I also have many of the same patterns as you have in your stash and hope to make them up at some point if I haven’t already! Thanks for sharing!
To be honest, I expected you to own more coat patterns 😂 I love all of them and I‘m all in for the fantasy coats, they are fabulous. My favourites are the Gertie coats 🥰
I vote yes to fantasy fun projects! It could be fun to end a video of one of them (like a pirate style coat) with a lookbook of what you could pair it with from your everyday wardrobe.
Haven't made a coat in a long time, but I do enjoy making jackets and seem to have a big collection of all sorts of coats and jackets. Never know when the need and the mood might strike.
Don't get rid of any of the patterns, they are all gorgeous. And you never know when you will want/need to make one of them, they don't take up that much space. Do you happen to remember how long it took you to sew up the Princess coat? I'm starting to be terrified (and still haven't found the right fabric). Yours underwater one sounds like something for me, as I am always really cold in the winter, even with many layers, hence the plan to make one myself and make it properly insulated, maybe with half or 3/4 circle skirt instead. Can I ask why you don't like boiled wool? I have probably never seen it in person.
I think it took about a week for the underwater coat including the pattern tracing, cutting out and sewing. I don't like the feel of boiled wool its too scratchy for me :)
Vogue 8346; the lining as written doesn't behave properly (on mine it dropped horrifically in parts). It's also the leave-the-lining-loose at the hem method; if you use your method, it will probably work better. I made it in purple velvet though, and lined the lapels and sleeves in purple silk habotai :) So many of the fit&flare patterns I went "ooh" at are out of stock/super expensive on ebay!
Can you modify the rainbow princess coat to be wearable? It seems such a waste that you cannot wear it often and by the sounds of it more for a very cold climate like parts of Canada?
Not without taking it completely to pieces. I probably ought to have mentioned I don’t like to leave the house when it’s cold enough to wear it 😂 maybe I just ought to stop hibernating 😉😊
As someone who is completely mad in regards to my desire for fancy coats, cloaks, and capes. I understand completely. I’m working on the muslin for the AD Cape Cult Cape, cursed by having breasts
Thank you for all the coat ideas!!!! Love them.

I own numerous coat patterns and I live in Southern California! I never know when I might want or need to make one!

Looking forward to the velvet coat refashion, the trim is amazing

I’ve got the vogue 1752 pattern as well. Actually I have a lot of coat patterns and need to make one or more but I can’t narrow it down 😂 ❤❤

Lots of lovely patterns, is it more difficult to fit because of the type of clothes they are worn with? 🍓🧶🌈💙
