you made this list just for joker 2 didn't you ?
Whatculture: I plead the 5th
Yet... it wasnt mentioned at all in this video.... so no, CLEARLY not
No obviously they are setting up for meh sequel film where what culture is killed by the real what culture and completely ignores this video
He subverted expectation. Interesting
Did you think Joker was any good?
1. Clerks III (Ruined Clerks II forever)
2. Terminator: Dark Fate (I consider it non canon)
3. Newest Indiana Jones (Didn't bother watching but know what happened)
4. Alien 3
5. Joker 2
6. The Matrix: Resurrections
7. Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi
8. The Predator
9. X-Men 3: The Last Stand
10. Highlander 2
Good list
@@danielwhitley6696 Thanks
You highlighted the one that I believe SHOULD have been number 1. Highlander 2.
The strapline of the first is enough of a reason for the sequal to not exist
Still to this day haunts me after the rescuing of Newt only to kill her and Hicks off in the next movie! Terrible idea!
The alternative script used as an Alien 3 audio book voiced by Lance Henrikson and Michael Beihn is a much better story
In no universe does Toy Story 4 do the Toy Story 3 ending justice.
I wouldn't say Alien 3 had a "great movie ending" and that Alien resurrection ruined it as the title suggests. Alien 3 was a horrible movie, especially considering good Aliens was.
Not as bad as Prometheus though.
@@claymccoyJust because what came after is even worse, it doesn’t make it a good movie!
@@positivanollan6353 never said it was a good movie.
@@claymccoyMan, I feel like one of the only people that actually liked Prometheus.
It destroyed Ripley's arc and reason for sacrificing herself.
Terminator Dark Fate having John Conner killed ruined the ending for T2
Absolutely. Quite possibly the biggest middle finger to a fanbase I have ever seen.
@@mixedcuts1895 Maybe only rivaled by the Aliens franchise killing off fan favorites Newt and Hicks semi-offscreen in Aliens 3, apparently learning absolutely nothing from the backlash and criticism and years later doing the exact same thing and once again killing off a fan favorite character (Shaw) off-screen for that movie sequel. Definitely a big middle finger to the fanbase.
@@Raptured_Night what's hilarious is that Cameron hated what Alien 3 did to Newt and Hicks. And yet it was HIS idea to take out John at the beginning of Dark Fate.
@@mixedcuts1895 A real case of "Thanks, I hated it." Lol! I don't know what he was thinking with that.
I predict that Joker 2 will make this list. It has to be THE most unnecessary sequel of all time.
Don't forget that it's revealed that Kay's wife left him. The whole ending with him being reunited with the wife he missed was completely undone.
How was it not Alien 3? I mean yeah, Ripley had a cool death but the ending of Aliens getting destroyed the way it did was horrible. On Stranger Tides ruined the ending of the previous one by existing and by having Jack just give up on his quest for the Fountain of Youth. Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 kills off his mother and sees him divorced in the first few minutes. The reason why he was divorced was so stupid. Even if you hate the original, you can't deny that Paul had a great ending.
While Blues Brothers 2000 was a letdown, it in no way ruins the ending of the first one. They were sentenced to prison and they served their time in prison. If the second movie had been just 2 years later you would have a valid point. Besides, it's more about the music than the story.
To be fair, the music was the only saving grace.
@@vgtrp Aretha was great in both time periods, but Blue Lou is WAY better than the sax player on the original Respect.
ハイランダー2を忘れてはいけない。いや、忘れよう。
Wait, they made a second Highlander film? I always thought they just skipped to 3 as I never saw any other movie that could be called part 2.
The entire _Highlander_ franchise undermines the ending of the first film. Connor kills the only other immortal, wins the prize, and is now content to live out his days as a mortal man. _Highlander 3_ revealed that there were some dinguses in a cave, restarting the game upon their release (also, his love interest dies in a car accident off-screen). The subsequent live action movies are based on the TV series, which ignores the whole thing about the prize and makes it clear that Connor and the Kurgan weren't the last two immortals.
I always quite liked MIB2 personally! It inverted the lead dynamics of the first one; we get even more of the day-to-day of immigrant ETs, especially the ones working in K’s office; and has the funniest “get to the bomb just before zero” scene in movie history!
The Devils rejects was my favorite movie ending of all time. I have not seen or even acknowledge three from hell.
You forgot the worst case of sequels ruining the originals Disney Wars has totally ruined everything about Star Wars
At least MiB3 had the heart the second film was missing
What makes alien 3 that much worse is the fact that the original idea for it was the fantastic Queen War story.
Halloween: Resurrection should totally be on this list. H20 had the PERFECT ending for the franchise (or at least that timeline). But they had to go screw it up with the prologue to Resurrection.
Even if Rambo: Last Blood overrode the previous one’s ending, I still loved it for being true to the character and being as bloody and violent.
That's true, at least that's one point in its favour.
@@trinaq It’s bad enough there are people like this guy in the video saying the movie sucked because the creator of the franchise went on Twitter and disowned it, while some reviewers like IGN and Grace Randolph take their hatred for the movie too far and slam it with accusations of racism and xenophobia!
It's wild how untrue to the character in the first movie that every movie after is.b
@@DivineNaruto Even if the sequels differed greatly from the first movie or its source material, didn’t stop them from being fun.
Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows is not ironically one of my favorite movies of all time. I find the whole aesthetic of it to be so pleasing and the ending is actually very good. People have a hard time getting over that it is not shot in POV but if you can get over that and like the lore of the Blair Witch it is actually a very decent film. Plus goth and wiccan girl very pretty lol
I thought the book of shadows was pretty good, the twist was pretty good, plus it has Micheal western from burn notice in (Jeffrey Donovan)
I agree whit you, I like this movie, it's well acted and creepy, and the Goth girl is, well, let say, beautifull..
I really liked it being kind of a mindfuck.
Young Guns 2 where the whole course of the film literally contradicts the closing narrative of the first Young Guns flick.
MIB 2 was just as good as the original. The 3rd, the same. MIB International…now that’s a different story.
Only 10?
It's screaming for Pt. 2!
It's screaming for a series.
Worth checking out Friedkin's story about the day he was shown some scenes during the filming of Exorcist II. Legend!
Men in black 2 ????? I loved all three ❤️
I look at Blair Witch 2 as a stand alone anyway.
Blair Witch 2 was awesome
I mean... I liked the goth girl. But that's it 😂
@@eulermoura9643 Erica Leershen is hot in it. That's it. All the other characters were annoying AF and the film was terrible.
She's 48 now, how time fly's.
The original Blues Brothers surpassed The French Connection for the most amount of vehicles destroyed. Great movies o7
Matrix reloaded has to be up there. Not a terrible film by any means, it's in fact pretty decent - but kills everything what made the first matrix so good. And matrix revolutions was a disaster on all fronts
I just rewatched the first three films this year, and I'll be honest, I've never had a problem with the direction Reloaded and Revolutions took. I can see why there was disappointment, but I guess I never really had any major thoughts on where I wanted the story to continue, and I was so sucked into the style anyway. Now regarding Resurrections, which I hadn't seen until this year, I felt like it didn't justify its existence, was far too meta, and the style, tone, and direction felt way too different from the films before, which all seemed pretty consistent in much of the execution. I don't consider Resurrections a bad film by any means, nor do I see it as ruining the ending of the previous film, but it was disappointing in many ways.
I agree. The Wachowski brothers should have just made The Matrix. Great movie stands alone no sequels necessary
How did you not list Joker 2?
Joker 2 is definitely among them
I'm 100% sure that The Phoenix Saga will never properly be adapted. There's too many plotlines, aliens, and studies on telepathy. And yeah, you can try and cut some of those things out, but it's like removing the foundation from a building. The 95 series did it the best, and it wasn't great
Number 1 should be Highlander 2
I'd say Alien:Covenant trumps Alien:Resurrection for ruining everything from the previous installment. Resurrection wasn't at all stellar, but it played it mostly safe and didn't actively harm any potential from Alien 3 or the overall franchise mythos. Covenant, however, promptly squashed the somewhat potentially decent hook Prometheus ended on for expanding the universe, then rubbed salt in the wound by also quashing all the mystery surrounding the origins and nature of the titular xenos, essentially spitting in the face of what made Alien so captivating and what Aliens smartly preserved.
Thankfully Alien:Romulus at least rendered Covenant's additions non-canon, so there's that.
joker 2 dethroned Saw II as the most useless sequel ever
Resident Evil but not In Diana Jones?
The most generic part of Rambo 5 is the plot being motivated by a clichéd young woman being in trouble
In The Army Now and Son In Law Not Sequels but Pauly Shore films Disney released under Hollywood Pictures featuring Linkovitch "Link" Chomovsky from Encino Man and a film I didn't expect to be a big fan of but here I am now I will see those movies someday I'm just not that eager about It that much
2:50 I would have preferred MIB2 had Patrick Warburton the whole movie as Kay's permanent replacement...
I feel like we will all look back at Whatculture in the future as an over critical yt channel that did more damage than good for the entertainment industry. I feel like you guys hold most movies to an impossible standard, which causes people to not even bother with films that may have changed their lifes, or at the very least, enjoyed. People should form their own opinion and not just except the answer from someone they dont even personally know.
Are you stupid? Do you think a negative review will magically change someone’s mind about a movie they like? Does your mind get changed this way? That means you are a weak minded idiot.
For what it's worth, #09's effects are softened by the third film. The same holds true for #04.
Halloween 2 ( 1981) was an unneeded sequel. The 1st film showed originality the 2nd film did a disservice to it.
I liked Last Blood. I thought that his relationship with his de facto granddaughter made it endearing and the end satisfying
"Watchable" sums up #03 quite well...
Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 is underrated and doesn't deserve the hate that it gets.
How on earth is Terminator Dark Fate not on here? Killing John Connor made the first movies absolutely pointless!
Your list is too short, it should be 100 sequels......................................
I like Alien Resurrection as I think its way better than Alien 3.
It has characters I hate like that Here Kitty Kitty guy who sounds like Apu from the Simpsons.
Aliens 3
"Dark Phoenix is watchable" lmfaooooooo
10 Sequels That Saved Horrible Movie Endings
Blair Witch 2 was ruined by studio meddling. It was a good continuation.
I loved "freedy's dead" 😂😂😂
Repossessed is the real sequal to The Exorcist.
I'll stand by my belief that Blair Which 2, which wasn't great, was better than the 1st which was garbage.
Come on, Book of shadows is a good flick, Kickass 2 is funny, and Last blood is very underrated.
Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga acted the shit out of Joker 2. The problem is the asinine dialogue, uninspired story, no reason for music and just a boring fucking movie. Like not a damn thing happens.
I immediately thought of Toy Story 4 regarding this title.
Oh I agree with this.
I have told people my criticisms of that film only to be told that its a kids movie and i shouldn't read too much into it.
The way I see it I was a kid when the first came out so its a franchise I've grown up with. I also feel that just because a film is written for families doesn't excuse poor writing.
look how excellent the first 3 were
I find the whole thing feels like it was written by people who didn't properly understand the characters.
Halloween 2. It was a good sequel, but it did ruin the ending of the original.
The 1980s version or Rob Zombies remakes?
@josephoswald2292 80s. The Zombie sequel was a long way from good.
I loved Rambo 1, and really liked 2 and 3. Didn't see 4 and 5
11:35 I loved Alien Resurrection but hated the third one...
Train to Busan: Peninsula 🤬🤬🤬
Men in black 2? Get a grip.that and 3 are great films.
I can think of far worse sequels than some on this list. I didn't even dislike some of these.
How is the Men in Black theme song recognizable? No one's ever heard it before
It was a big hit when it came out.
Rambo Last Blood is the shit.
Men in Black 3 was even better than the original in my opinion The second was just meh. I really enjoyed Rambo Last Blood. I liked the way the last battle was fought. Rambo beat the holy hell out of the drug creeps more by hiding and attacking then fighting head on. Made more scenes. Of course I'm very biased when it comes to Sylvester Stallone. I have a hard time saying I absolutely hate any of his movies. Rocky 5 comes closest.
I enjoyed Alien Resurrection.
How many people do you employ to make so many videos?
book of shadows was better than the original
I disqgree with about half of this list.
BTW, have you guys even seen the Howling III: The Marsupials? It makes Origins Wolverine look like Gone with the Wind! 🤨
I admit blues brother two isn't as good
But it was still a funny movie
Joker 2....
Lol Logan has 2 that shit on it's ending
'eesrever'
Jfc book of shadows sucked and that gimmick was corny af. I didn't even bother to rewatch it at all let alone try to watch it in reverse.
great movie endings and you come up with resident evil???🤣🤣 but i think brahms 2 is missing on this list
9:45 ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
It's so funny seeing people single out Joker 2, like they didn't beg for the sequel and like they weren't told during the entire process that it would be a musical.
So? That means nothing. If you go to McDonald’s and get served a shit covered in vomit is it your fault you wanted another Big Mac?
