I never understood why such a huge leap in sailing performance was ignored for 25(?) years. Why did this boat disappear? The first time I saw one was a perfect day for it. The damn thing was passing powerboats and turning like a go-kart. My girlfriend reached over and lifted my dangling chin.
Well the center bar is at neck level so if one of the outriggers hit something it wouldn't be too hard to get decapitated. Seems like an easy fix with a cage around the cockpit. Looks like a lot of fun though.
A Trifoiler can sail a couple of degrees above 90 to the true wind direction. Trifoilers can also remain on the foils through a turn into the wind (tack) & with the wind behind your stern (gybe). However when you’re on the foils your apparent wind never gets behind you. So a gybe is actually a tack! Let that sink in…
I think 🤔 I can figure out how this thing is made......... but are there any plans for a DIY version. It doesn’t look like it would be that expensive to make. I’ll be very happy even if my prototype goes only half as fast !!!!! Does anybody know who has plans on how to make one ☝️. If not, I’ll just have to make one on try and see. 🤔 The need for speed........ Thank you for sharing.
@@SamuelLanghorn No......... Too busy working........ but maybe soon. Now that I might be semi-retirement in a year or so. 😂🤣😂🤣 I do like how fast that set up is. I thought my fourteen foot “Láser” was fast, but this thing is worth copying.
@@joetrump5844 I just discovered the TF and I am reading a bit about the pros and cons. Looks like there are two options: - build a replica - morph into a modernized version that overcomes the problems you might have in your particular location I live in the SF Bay area, there is no beach, I would have to launch from a boat ramp.. Obviously many have tried all kind of concepts, none really seems too convincing. I am curious where you will move your design.... and when you will start building it :-)
@@SamuelLanghorn My design will be nothing special....... It will be more like a sailing canoe....... But with the outriggers out a little more than normal........ for stability......and each with a mast like a “Laser”. Even if it doesn’t foil....... I’m sure it will be faster than a mono haul. Start of project.......... less than a year. 🤩
Beautiful ⛵

Hi Joe,

I have same thoughts you have :-)

apologize for a quick question. Are the sails smaller as the normal size?
didn't we meet some years ago? I developed Expandacraft modular boats and Have plans to foil it one day.
Meraviglioso
Damn that was fast!
Mark Bolton how fast ?
Wow, totally practical! ;-)
I am building a sailing...thing, and this might be the solution.
