Judging by how high it revs on the ground it sounds like you’re severely under-propping it. Use a 16x8.

14x8 is one of the recommended sizes from dle, 16x8 would hit the ground and break

Bobby O it was only 20 cc gas engine. my friend who owns the plane preferred to be safe.

Glove, hand flipping might alert you to a possible engine problem. Just a thought. Using a starter might conceal a problem with tuning.
