Nicely done! Ignore the criticism and haters
Very cool and practical bench tool! Thanks.
Nice idea, nice job! Thank you for sharing your experience!👍❤️
In lutherie we use jigs all the time. Watching other people realize their ideas is a great way to develop one's own problem-solving skill. Thanks again for the lesson.
FANTASTIC WOW WOW
WOW that's amazing. Thank you so much!!!!
One Sweet Jig!!
True Genius is not often recognized,
Until Now!! 🏆🏆🏆🏆
What a great idea!
Also, it looks like you have birch there to start with.Personally I find the off cuts with bark on them to be an interesting outcome also! (for projects, crafts, art)
Excellent idea 10/10
Now that I've got it square, time to pop it on the lathe.
What a fantastic job you did! Congratulations on the type of work you do and the skill involved! Good on you.
Thank you for appreciating my work!
Very involved...fantastic tools...but what was he making???
Great idea! Great work!😁🛠️
That's a great idea, it would be perfect if you could turn and lock it in place to make the first two cuts.
Keep the bark off that piece of birch... It's full of oils and resins... Useful to start fires and other cool things...
Nicely done
Nice video, you certainly have all the gear and know how to use it. Lucky you've got all your fingers too after 0:45. 😯
Very good!.. Thank you!..
i like that idea will make one bur use it on the bandsaw Well done
BLUDDY BRILLIANT IDEA DIMA....
From New Zealand
Lot of calculating, sawing, planing and measuring for a fairly useless result.
I’d like to build simple projects I can sell, but I don’t have any fancy equipment. Love his sawing and speed tapping lol
I enjoyed your craftsmanship and creativity. It’s inspiring. Why do some people climb mountains? Because they get enjoy, ent and pleasure from doing it or because it’s there . God bless and please keep the wonderful videos coming . I understand how much work it takes to do,the task and the video editing . ❤ you are a true craftsman and artist .

Very nice video. Looks like you had some burning. Maybe check tool sharpness.
Brilliant 👏
For wood workers with too much time on their hands
Yes, hobbies take a lot of time
I also want a pencil that make the wood falling appart after drawing the picture. 👍👍👍
Too dangerous? What if you accidentally drew a line on yourself
Creative video, thanks :)
The quick tapping reminds me of Benny Hill.
Exactly
Brilliant!
Good idea👍👏👏👏
Excellent!
Awesome idea !!
Lot of effort and skill. Personally I want a small handheld router like that.
Excellent hammer action.
Clever. Don't listen to the nay sayers. I can see several applications this would be useful for. I made something similar for pallet wood
A very laborious way of sawing firewood.
I like it.
Eine sehr gute Idee !
With this jig, you can make custom pieces of wood. Otherwise you would need a bandsaw and/or a planer.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I agree, you could use it to get any shape within it realm to do so, such as octagonal, or a pentagram. Maybe even a triangle plus who knows where one mind might take them. I do like how it gave a perfect 90° starting point!
awesome 👍 idea 👍👍👍👍
I like the tapping noise
Nice 💯😉👍!!
Brilliant
Genial
Nice work
Love it, thanks.
Well, that's pretty neat. Yet, you still have the pith in your wood which cause the whole piece to check up.
Yeah, but forget about firewood and think about other circular or irregular lumber. The method comes handy if you need to make a piece with square edges.
Excellent idea and job my friend. the three points on each jaw brought back the memory of jaws I designed for a pneumatic gripper on the end of a robotic arm for picking and placing wooden pallets in a light bulb manufacturing factory. That was about 30 years ago. The grippers worked like a charm.
All of these ghreat creations are fine for people who have ALL the tools to make them, but not everybody has ALL the tools!!
I like!
You can do that to any wood or other material with circular or irregular diameter. If you cannot see that, that's definitely your problem.
This reminds me of a spoof I saw long ago, where they gave instructions how to grind down an old file and create a screwdriver from it.
That's a lot of trouble just to split cord wood. How about a combination zip gun in .38 caliber, microwave oven, and automatic booger picker?

It is better to do something than to do nothing.Challenge yourself,it may lead to other things.
love that hammering work, damn you good :)
I always like when they speed up the hammering.
He sure can Hammer fast
👍👍👍
Would you mind telling me who makes the clamp you were using and where I could get some? Thank You
What ticks on did you use? That looks smaller than what I've seen before.
Never seen any thing so ridiculous all that rigmarole for nothing do that with a handsaw blindfolded
Heavens to mergatroid.
Could've cut just one side flat, then the ends off perpendicular (to get rid of the hols on the ends), drilled 3 (or more) holes in the top where the bark is, insert candles, and sold it for $50 with a Christmas bow added! Just saying!
...He he...
Is that laser built into your drill press ??
okaaaay, so what is the board for? I have made similar cuts to make a log square with no jig.
Amen. Me too. Way to much work.
A beautiful demonstration of brilliance. Brilliant tools make for brilliant minds, eventually, one would think. When I was younger, I did not appreciate brilliance. I was a stupid little idiot. I'm less of a stupid little idiot now, I expect, as I now realise what it is to be a stupid little idiot. I don't ever want to be that again. I expect it was some kind of life lesson. The off-cuts can be put to good use as well. A lot of beautiful things can be made of wood. I think some people/beings might hear trees screaming, though. Maybe they are creatures who live in them. It's possible that metals and plastics and carbon fibres are the future. I'm not entirely sure why tons of plastics are ending up in the ocean. Maybe they don't like garbage bins because they think they will end up in one and become landfill.
Ever Lovely Ever Nice Ever Sane Ever Intelligent Times to all those who believe that these times are the only times worth living in.

@@fishingtravelalaska4626 Looked like silver birch to me, or have I missed a joke here?
Wow… I think you’ve just invented a square lump of wood.
Build a rig to sand off those nasty sharp corners… you could make it look like a bit of a branch❗️👍😜
where can i get that drill press?
Anybody that puts there plane down like you did aint smark every carpenter lays it on its side so that edge of the blade does not get damaged.
Don't need anything that fancy to do that. Woodworkers been doing the same thing for many years, but didn't need anything that fancy to do it.
MAY BE BUT HE IS THE ONE REVEALING /TEACHING ,THAT TO LEARNERS INCLUDING YOU 🤣
@@jkj1459 And he did it WITHOUT SHOUTING! LOL
@@jkj1459 §
You have it wrong, I learned how to do the same thing, many years ago, but simpler, faster, using scrap wood, and just as accurate. My point is, you do not need to be so fancy to do it. I know I certainly don't . Hell, I could knock a jig together in well under 5 minutes, and it would be just as accurate. You really ought to study wood working more. Right now I am studying decorative painting to put some decoration on some of my work, started out with medieval materials and methods, and worked my way up. Did you know, they used at least two poison paints, and one that was radioactive? Interesting.
@@tfit402 I agree,,, it's pointless.
Wow
A lot of work for this pice of wood.,

I agree . Looks like a good way of getting a serious hand injury .
For a minute there it looked like he was going to saw his knuckles. deanonkathsphone
Good Lord!
What was the brilliant idea?
Using a rule and pencil?
and glue
the world's most dangerous handle!!
👍👌👏✊🤜🤛🤝
OK, clearly this guy is quite a woodworker but, don’t they sell rip fences that are reasonably priced? I get the pride of making your own and he absolutely did but, that seems like a tremendous amount of effort for 2x2 that’s 18” long?
Why buying it when you can make it! It is not about the price but the satisfaction you made something with remains.
Its another cheap vid for brain-dead dummy surfers. UA-cam couldnt exist without such videos.
Yes I find as well, superbly done but very complicated for the result.
He wasn't creating an alternative RIP fence. What he created was a method for taking rough round and getting the main starting point which is a perfect 90° angle to work with. That was the whole point of his invention which he showed by placing the square to to show the accuracy of his design. As a machinist and a worker of wood can see the great benefit a tool like this gives.
I do see your point about the length though. It would be better if it could fit say... Stud length material plus be adjustable to accommodate any length under that. Might need an occasional tie clamp of sorts along the distance of the longer logs so to keep it from deflecting.
I want to know where I can buy one of those pencils…🔥👍😉🥴
Don't use the "few people Know" in the title, it's so click baity
Are you using metric or ASE for your measurements
A "log jointer" you say...
all that to make a 2X2? Overkill, router, jig, drill, grinder.
Neat. What does that shark fin guard on your table saw do?
It stops the wood (that has already passed the blade) from touching the blade's teeth which could "snatch" the piece of wood and launch at across the workshop
ua-cam.com/video/8f8VWwtaudU/v-deo.html
it's called a splitter. It keeps the wood from pinching the blade if there's warping going on as you cut.
It is called a riving blade.
@@zulualpha3409 correct. But that hardly explains what it does ;p
The wood that has already been cut, is kept split open, so it does not pinch the blade.
It keeps the blade running smoothly.
Like so many of these videos, overkill for a job you may do twice in your entire lifetime. And it completely ruins the fun and challenge of running a log through your table saw with your bare hands. So, safety first children, don't wear gloves.... 🤣🤣🤣
Please add type tools used..where to buy.. dimensions for your project....change name too crafts for people as seen some female inquiries..ty
👍👍👍🏅🏅🏅🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
All that work to make a birch 2x2
And it's useful fo??
I can think of a quicker way to make kindling....
really? all of that work to make a totally unnecessary jig....
Interesting video but has nothing to do with the screen grab.
