I am a grandma homeschooling my 3 grandsons ages 6, 9, and 10. I always start each day with an art “challenge” tutorial. I AM NOT AN ARTIST! So I look to UA-cam for inspiration and help. This was perfect. From your description of playfulness in how you approach the subject, to the actual painting. Thank you ❤ And yes, yes, yes I would love more tutorials in the 10 minute range. Mainly because of attention and time constraints.
That is awesome! I'm trying to make them a little shorter but talking while I'm creating slows me down. BTW, I homeschooled my two daughters when we were travelling for a year (years ago) and I loved it. So much room for creativity!

This was a great tutorial, it was set up exactly the way that I learn best. I initially followed you when I was doing junk journals, but then I lost interest in them and drifted away. I’ve been dabbling in sketching and water color and have been wanting to do more with ink and watercolor, but usually the videos are too long or tedious. I enjoyed the way you chatted a about life a little bit while you did the tutorial and your encouragement was helpful. I have signed up for a few fee based courses after watching UA-cam artists in the past, and I normally don’t complete them. I discovered that the artist personality seems to change a little bit, probably because she feels like she needs to include more information and support, then in a UA-cam video. They become long, wordy and too formal for my taste. That’s just me.

Thank you for your response 🤗 I would love to know when adding colors onto another can you tell us if it is still wet or it is dry and you either put water again on it or your coming in with wet on dry? I have a heavy hand on the layering and I can’t get the different layers of value because the edges are dark with excess paint then I go in trying to smooth it out and ruin it 🤦♀️ Also, what colors together make what colors? Lots to learn!!! Where are u located?

Lately I've been playing with journals and gluebooks and I really enjoy it..but I started with watercolor and drawing and I feel that I've lost something by not pursuing that as well. I have a ton of snapdragons in my little garden and I think I need to go pick a stem and try this! Thanks for this. I think I would like to see more simple videos like this.

Whether it's ink and wash or just straight watercolor (or any other combination of techniques), my preference is for impressionistic...not messy, not abstract, but wonky and (sometimes) out the lines. I always fight the temptation to put too much info in the painting. Leaving lots of white, making sure to have good tonal contrast, and lost and found edges is always my goal. Your painting is lovely. I probably would have done it more quickly.
My preference is also impressionistic, though I like to experiment a little sometimes. I would have done my painting more quickly too, but talking while painting slows me down.
Lovely contour drawing. Good instructions on o servatio of shapes. I also use the angles of the hands on a clock for things like boats. Consider the angles as 1:00, 7:00, etc.

Just subscribed, haven't seen you before but I love the gentle way you go about your tutorial and the style of teaching.
I love water colours, but they don't seem to like me much. I really struggle to keep it loose and light, so I would definitely benefit from some pointers on that side of things. So how to paint is what I need, but I presume there is a charge for your course. Please tell.
I love your little geranium and how easily you drew it. I also love your no nonsense, straight into your demonstration style. So many good tutorials are actually spoilt because there's too much blurb and hands flashing all over. It's very distracting your eyes are bring pulled all over the screen, and the annoying wait having to wade through all the blurb before the tutorial

Just curious...what camera and how did you mount it for your shots from above? it looks great.
Thanks for asking. I have an older DSLR camera that a friend gave me. It's mounted on a boom arm like this: amzn.to/4gtkCMC, which is attached to a tripod that I already had. I also purchased a swivel ball attachment (amzn.to/3TxJBV4) to alter the angle because my table is an antique drafting table and is slanted. The camera actually films upside down, but that's easy to switch around in editing. I hope that helps.
