Thank you so much! I had a repair tech out to check my dryer, and he told me that the part (motor) wasn't available, and there was nothing he could do. That cost me $90. I found a salvaged motor on eBay, followed your video (granted it took me more like 3 hours than 20 minutes), and my dryer is working again. You rock!
Good video, fixed a neighbor’s dryer using the video as a reference. The new motor came with a new jumper harness so installing was tad different but not bad.
Thanks. That was an easy, light repair. Only hand tools and clips, no soldering. Just needed to see the procedure. Thx again.
Not easy for me. My old GE dryer was nothing like what is described. Needed torx screw driver set to open dryer and install wiring. Not possible to loosen drum belt from front (as described) so had to open back to do it. Had to remove clip from back to remove drum. Had to remove entire fan assembly housing and motor to remove motor (not only part).
Wiring not as shown in video. Wiring connections on new motor entirely different from old wiring and instructions given in package were no help. After some anxious time, found a diagram on the internet that worked and finally made the new connections.
Would love to know about that diagram you found. I'm trying to replace a motor in a 1997 GE gas dryer. The new motor I purchased has a jumper harness. I figured out how to install it, but I'm uncertain about how to connect the wires from my machine to the terminals in this jumper harness. My machine does not have a wiring harness, but rather individual wires as seen in this video.
Well, I'd say that about covers it. Thank you.
Have fun with pulling the blower wheel off the shaft that easily. That has never happened to me
he said this is a EASY JOB... Haha... oh yes so easy and fast...
Easy repair and it took 20 minutes worth of fast-forward UA-cam to show the process. A gagillion wires, screws, bolts, etc. ?? Not so easy for us mortals.
Ez TU.
