The cover of "Metalstorm 3D" says that its format is Blu-ray 3D and that you need a television that's compatible with 3D.

I just picked up Arrow Video's House: Two Stories blu-ray set, which similarly came with a detailed booklet and had in-depth making of documentaries. I love that companies like Arrow and Shout are putting together these beautiful boxed sets for movies that would otherwise have probably been forgotten.
Gotta admit, that Empire box set looks fantastic!
Geoffrey Smith I wanted to. I actually didn't hear about the sets until well after their release, so by the time I bought it the UK set was over $100.
Not that it would have done me any good. The discs for HOUSE 3: THE HORROR SHOW and HOUSE 5: THE REPOSSESSION are region B locked, I've heard, and I don't currently have an all region blu-ray player. 🙁
My favorite Empire picture is Zone Troopers. I'm guessing it's not included in this set because Kino Lorber put it out recently.
I'm miffed that Ghoulies isn't the uncut version. The UK VHS was the full uncut version, & it's only recently that we've got the crappy PG-13 edition.
The US version has always been PG-13, what is the difference in both cuts?

Oh man that set looks awesome. Anybody know if you can get the movies individually on blu-ray or do you have to get the set? Arena is great, watched it so many times on VHS as a kid.
I'd love to own this but can't find any info on weather or not it'll work on a UK blu-ray player, then again half of these have already been released on UK blu so may just get em without the nice box lol

I'd definitely buy this if I didn't already have the Scream Factory Blu rays of almost every movie already.
These are only the Factory disks. The slips are new, variant covers. Sell the old ones and combine it all with this collectors item! :-P
Do you know if the films are sold individually on BluRay? There are 5 or 6 in there I'd like, but I can't justify buying the whole box, more because of space than cost- I'm running out of places to store my films!
I'm pretty sure they can be bought separately.

I have now updated my Christmas wish list from my girlfriend lol I noticed the little "head of the family" figurine in the background, who in thier right minds would buy that? It's hideous and the film is one of the weirdest and just downright bonkers movies ever lol

Have not switched to Blu Ray... don't think I will. I have over 500 movies and switching over would cost me... well, you can figure it out. I wish they released this in a non-Blu Ray format. Oh well.

cavv0667 You don't have to switch. Combination Blu-ray/DVD players have existed for years. Hell I have two combination Blu-ray/DVD players in the form of my PS3 and my PS4, which makes them better than a normal Blu-ray/DVD player because they also play games.
cavv0667 everyone is right. I have a Blu Ray player because it was like $25 or something and I needed a new DVD player anyways. I always just buy the DVD when a movie releases except on the weird occasion where the blu Ray is cheaper or the Blu Ray has a special feature I want to see that the DVD doesn't.
The few Blu rays do look odd in the sea of DVDs on the shelves though.
Come on, Hit movies that are only a couple years old are under $10. These should be $5 each or a four movie set for $10. No one wants to pay new release prices for 20+ year old B movies.
That's my biggest gripe about this. They think their movies are worth that much. They're not.
lol, yeah thats the thing you see, old movies people still wanna watch can be priced higher while new movies people dont have any nostalgia for need to go down in price to sell well. Aka, they priced it for what they knew it would sell for. (Hell, it's nearly sold out already so they were on point with their pricing.)
Bigger movies are mass produced and such will end up in the bargain bin after a few months. Smaller, niche films have a higher price tag because they aren't appealing to the general audience. Smaller companies (like Shout Factory, Arrow, Anchor Bay) pay a decent amount of money to get the rights sorted on these older films, acquire the best print available, and then remaster it with lots of extras (commentary tracks, deleted scenes) so that it is appealing to the market. They take a gamble on each of these films and they have them priced accordingly. (They also have a smaller print run)
Look at these films compared to the four movie DVD sets sitting in the cheap bins. These are cleaned up versions of older films, that looks great. The 4+ movie sets are usually films that have slipped into the public domain or the company just mass sells the rights because they don't care about them. So many are just taken from VHS prints or 640x360 DVD videos. Many times they are Full Frame garbage. You get what you pay for.
If "no one" wants to pay these prices for 20+ year old B movies, then how are all these companies staying in business? Oh, right, because there is a market and a demand for these things. Its not that they "think" the movies are worth that. They price them in a way as to keep them from losing money and going out of business.
Sean Connery movies that are out of print have DVDs going for $50+ each on Amazon/eBay. Plus this is a limited set so it gets some collector value.
"Sigh" Sean Connery you have to be a super fan to fully understand lol! Most "hit movies" that are a few years old are crap any ways except for a few gems here and there(John Wick 2!), I think Blofeld pissed in your martini too many times! Shaken, not stirred Sean.
