It always just drives me absolutely wild that The King's Speech won like...honestly I think Toy Story 3 TRULY shouldve won, and The Social Network wouldve obviously been an unreal win, too. Black Swan was my fav of that year and even that shouldve won over it.
Toy Story 3 is extremely overrated. It is essentially a rehash of Toy Story 2 that adds nothing while using obvious manipulation to pull on your heart strings. And only if you fall for nostalgia does it work.
I throughly enjoyed A Beautiful Mind, it’s a film that teaches society how to treat the mentally ill. I have autism and I can relate to the film on so many levels

I’m satisfied finally someone rates Birdman where it deserves to be. It’s a goddamn masterpiece. Parasite is a good film but people are going way too crazy over it. It’s a good 7 out of 10. Watched once, I’m satisfied with that.
Ang Lee has won Best Director TWICE!!! I wonder why? Because he's a bloody good Director but his films have just missed winning the big prize; shit happens. Gladiator is a fantastic film, probably my number 3 for this century.
In 2006 he was gonna win Best Picture but lost to You Know What Movie, probably because the Academy had a hard time getting behind a gay romance in the old west. In 2012 he won because they didn't nominate Ben Affleck who won Best Picture.
This ranking is very easy: 1. Parasite (Masterful film. There was no other possible winner that year). 2. American Beauty (Still ont of the most acute critical of 'american dream' films. Even when 1999 was full of legendary movies, this is an excellent winner) 3. The Departed (Finally Scorsese received the honor he deserved. Of course, Little Miss Sunshine was the runner up). 4. Moonlight. (Yes, Moonlight was WAY BETTER than La La Land. The only possible contender that year was Arrival). 5. Gladiator. (Well, this film brought perplum back). 6. No Country For Old Men. (Even when Attonement was an ideal winner, this is a good winner). 7. The Lord Of The Rings: The Return of the King. (Epic, majestic). 8. Million Dollar Baby (Moving, excellent, but Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was way better). 9. The Artist (Many critics despice it, but there was no better choice that year. Lovely film). 10. Spotlight (An important film). 11. A Beautiful Mind (Touching, but Mulholland Drive was the best film of that year). 12. Slumdog Millionarie (Well, where is the Oscar of The Dark Knight?) 13. Chicago (Easy one of the best musicals ever). 14. Birdman (It's aging badly). 15. The King's Speech (Over The Social Network and Inception? LOL NO way). 16. Twelve Years a Slave (Films like Nebraska or Her were better). 17. The Hurt Locker (Not a bad film but Inglorious Basterds as superior). 18. Nomadland (That year were better choices). 19. Argo (No comments). 20. The Shape Of Water (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri is the real winner of that year). 21. Green Book (An hilarious choice). 22. Crash (The symbol of old Hollywood homophobia... is it really past? Brokeback Mountain is the real winner of that year) 23. Coda (No matter what film win every year, this is going to continue being at the bottom of the winners list. It shouldn't even have to be nominated).
Why do you feel The Shape of Water isn't worthy of Best Picture? It's an excellent film. Three Billboards is great too, so in my mind they're both equally worthy of Best Picture.
@@jdbruiser Compared to other films of Guillermo Del Toro, it's nothing. Many sub plots in that film are put there only to make it look more trascendental of what it really is. Pretentious, but fake.

I love the Coen Brothers so it's no surprise that my pic for #1 is No Country for Old Men. Love that film. 12 Years a Slave, Moonlight and Lord of the Rings would battle it out for runner up.
I hated Spotlight. Very very boring. Idc how important the event was, I watch movies for entertainment, not a history lesson. Same as All the Presidents men. I love Robert Redford & Dustin Hoffman, but even they couldn’t make a boring history lesson exciting. La La Land, Whiplash, No Country for Old Men are my top 3 movies from these years.
I enjoyed The King's Speech much better than The Social Network which I didn't care for at all. The Shape of Water was terrible!! Lady Bird was also pretty bad, IMO. Any movie besides those two should have won during that year. Everything else I either agree with or haven't watch enough of the movies to make any sort of strong opinion.
