Thank you. Following your instructions solved my remote issues. Only difference is, there are two wires. One short and one longer. I drilled hole in the side cover to bring them both outside of the case. Now my garage will operate from about three house's away.
Thank you so, so much. This video/solution needs to be posted everywhere for consumers and for the Chamberlain support team. I went through 2 logic boards and 4 different remotes - couldn’t figure out why the range was limited to 12”. Did what you said and brought the antenna out…boom - worked like a charm. You’re the best. This has been a headache pestering me for the last 4-5 weeks!!!
Glad it worked for you. I installed a second one on my other garage door and had the same problem again ... pulling out the antenna cable solved that problem as well. Chamberlain should really be advising customers about this problem; or, better yet, fixing it!
Ok - I installed my Chamerlain B6753T this weekend and, at least for the B6753T, it appears that this issue is resolved. I'm getting excellent range (better than the Genie model it replaced).
I’m a garage door tech and ran into that issue before and pulling the antenna out always worked for me! BTW I have 15 years experience with garage door service & tech repairs.
I had same issue for remote. Remote was working only if I use it near or under opener only. I called Chamberlain customer service and they point me out to this video. I have LED light both side. Initially I had yellow wire upward position and that did not allow me to open the door from outside garage. After keeping the wire towards down, it worked now. This video saved my one day stress
You, sir, are a genius. I just bought and installed one of these units today and could not, for the life of me, figure out why the remotes were only working when I was right next to the opener. It blows my mind that Chamberlain is still producing and selling this model with this problem. (My date of manufacture is 6/22) Thanks again for the great video and explanation.
Same problem with my chamberlain model b4613t both controllers weren’t working I was scratching my head never had a problem with a garage opener before. Told my wife let me check UA-cam and see if anybody has had the same problem and found your video and did the same thing with the antenna and it worked, Thank you so much!
The installer couldn't get the first new unit to work so he installed a second new unit. Same problem with remote only working within a couple of feet of the opener. This solution totally solved the problem. I can open and close from 60-75 feet every time.
Just found your video and went to the garage and opened the unit and now have the yellow antenna wire outside the enclosure - I just installed the Chamberlain B6713T and its great - range is good with my 2017 Ford Edge using Homelink, but my wife's 2015 Mustang's Homelink range was such that the hood has to be almost touching the door for it to work - will report back tomorrow after testing. Thanks.
Thank you for the video information, I followed your instructions, and it totally works, you just saved me a couple hours of grief on the phone, can’t thank you enough!!!
I'm having the identical issues with the exact model. Replaced remote batteries before searching youtube, finding this video. Thanks! I'm Frickin pissed and will try this tomorrow! Everyone call stupid chamberlain! Flood them with unhappy customer discussions. I thought I was moving up from an old Craftsman unit!!
Thank you for posting this! I was able to run the yellow antenna wire through a small opening at the back top corner of the roof (so it is out of sight) and that worked! My issue is with a B4603T - just purchased and has a build date of 11/29/21. I called Chamberlain today. They are still saying they have not heard of this issue…
My model has the smart wall mounted press button with LCD. It’s also a 1 -1/4 motor with dual lights. My remotes paired the very 1st time with no issues. Only concern I have is the poor range. My old wd962kev would open the door from a block way. Now I have to be in the driveway to open my door
I just bought this same model and was looking for videos on how to install this opener and ran into the previous referred video with the ferrite clips and saw your link in the comments. I'm glad I saw both videos. I may do both; install the ferrite noise supressor clips as well as pulling out the antenna. Thanks so much.
I Pulled out the yellow wire (antenna) to make sure it works before the installation. Plugged all the wires (sensors etc ...) to make sure the whole unit is operates properly. And, it did. After it mounted up, then it's difficult to do . Thanks for sharing. Mine is working.
Just adding that you do not void your warranty. I was instructed by Chamberlain tech support to remove those screws and bring the wire out. Did not fix my issue sadly, but I only brought out the long wire. I had to buy newer remotes for it to work and they don't work with my homelink rear view mirror.
I echo all the others - thank you! I replaced an older Chamberlain opener that had the yellow antenna hanging out the side so that was the first thing I looked for - where is that antenna? My range issue was sometimes intermittent. If I used the remote (new or older) in the garage, it would then work out in the drive way for a short time to close the door. But I always had to use it inside the garage first. I chatted with tech support today and they started with the "run an extension cord, etc" - glad I did some checking here! Your video was great!
Thanks so much for this! I had the same problem but getting the antenna out wasn't enough, so I had to flip the light to point forward. It's not a completely flush fit but it works for the moment.
Thanks for the video, I also was thinking I had the same problem but not sure now. I have a bunch of 12 volt Christmas controllers around the house that are on because I do a Christmas show that the lights dance to the music. My remotes would only work within the garage around the garage door opener so I started to look online to see I missed something and found your video. I did the same thing with the antenna wire to see if that worked. It got me just outside the garage door. (making progress). After a few hours later I then thought about my Christmas controllers to see if they where interfering and unplugged them and guess what, I could get 50 plus feet away from the garage door. Now I am not sure I had a problem to begin with but for now I just gonna leave the wire sticking out at least until I get done running my show. Just thought It was interesting just incase someone else has the same problem. thanks
I'd leave the antenna wire out at this point. I think it can only help with the limited remote range issues. Were your Christmas lights LED lights by any chance?
Great video. I have a lesser model. It’s driving me crazy. I can only get one remote to close the door but won’t open. I’ve tried everything. I’m wishing I’d gone back to the same screw model I had.
I'm having the same issue with this unit as I have now have replaced this unit three times in the last five days. All of the new units installed have had the same issue with range for the remotes. The first unit would only let you used the remote standing underneath the unit to work. Returned it and the next unit would allow the remote to open at a distance but would not close. I discovered when the light is off the unit would open and close outside of the garage. Just don't have a light when it's dark. The last purchase is basically the same as the first. I'll try you method of removing the antenna and see if this helps. Calling Chamberlain is a waste of time.
Let me know if it works for you. Your symptoms sound exactly the same as mine. You've got a lot of patience installing and uninstalling 3 different units! I was ready to do just about anything to avoid having to do that.
It worked like a charm. I will share that with the guy who do the install incase one of his clients have the same issues. I will let Chamberlain know that have an issue with the positioning of the antenna. I have the same installation on my side of the garage and I have no issues. But if I do later I know what to do. Thanks for the TIP..
I bought this opener yesterday, remotes worked but the wall controller doesn’t and now the remotes don’t work at all. I’m not going through all of this bs. Chamberlain shouldn’t be making customers do this because the company released a garage door opener with design problems, it’s their responsibility to fix it, not mine.
You're welcome ... glad it worked for you. I have no idea why Chamberlain doesn't mention this as a first step instead of spending 2 hours on the phone trying all kinds of ridiculous tests. They know what the problem is!
So unplugging the unit LED light definitely works. Brought antennae wire out and then plugged LED back in and same range issue. Anyone have this continued problem? Wondering if running extension antennae wire will fix this. I have a separate motion activated garage light so not too worried about keeping LED in unit unplugged but it would be nice to have additional light.
I tried this by unplugging the LED light and it slightly increased the range when I pulled out the yellow antenna. Although, I am still having issues to where I can only open/close my garage door when I am really near it. If I step outside to the driveway I still have a range issue. Going to try and find a longer antenna wire (although not sure what wire I need to purchase) and if issue persists will be returning this junk Chamberlain opener.
Chamberlain called me yesterday and said that they will be pushing a firmware update via WiFi in 3 weeks and they claim it should fix the remote opener range issue. They finally identified the problem and said it was related to the frequency level used on some FM radio stations.
I spent 5 hrs yesterday installing the Chamberlain B970T. And the remotes don’t work 4 feet away from the opener. Guess I’ll have to use the phone app because I’ll be damned if I take this garbage down again 🤬
The model you mentioned is an older model intended to be used with incandescent light bulbs only (no higher than 60w). If you're using LED bulbs, they can emit electromagnetic interference (EMI) that will severely limit the range of the remotes. Try changing out the bulbs ... or even just take them out completely and see if that improves the remote range. Then you can experiment with different bulbs so you can keep the functionality of the lights. Good luck!
Mine is very temperamental sometimes it works sometimes doesn't unable to Homelink my truck with the garage door opener it will work for a day and will not work it all...remotes will not work. Ready to return this garage door opener....buy a basic garage door opener.
These products have been out for many months now. It could be that Chamberlain has fixed the problem. Glad you got a good one, but many were not that fortunate (as you can see here!)
I was about 2 place a order 4 this model on amazon, as it is on sale, no way i am going through all that hassle, my old opener i could be around the block and the garage door opens, and this model does not even have motion detection, but clearly says on the box it does.. chamberlain/lift master really should be ashamed of themselves
There apparently was a brief period of time when the B4613T did not come with motion detection for the wall mount controller due to a parts shortage issue. The unit I bought on 9/08/22 does have motion detection and it works fine for turning on the light.
@@911customcruisers8 the remotes on mine worked pretty well right out of the box. I did reroute the antenna so that it hangs outside of the case, like in the video. That nearly doubled the range of the remotes.

I pulled out the antenna too but it didn’t work. So I disconnected the LED light cable and it worked. Wish there was a better fix.

Thank you so much. When I open it, I see one more short antenna. So pull out together. Now problem is gone!
