Just a shitty attempt vs Takumi at Akina with a AE86 while testing out DEmul on experimental settings
Car: Trueno GT-APEX (AE86) [Stock]
Wheel/Seat: Logitech G27
Running DEmul x86 v0.7 Alpha BUILD 221215 on Windows 10

man... I used to cut classes in college to play this game on mall arcades. i mean, I have many good friends in college, but this is something I liked alone that i dont think they relate with. I use to drop by the mall by myself before going home to play this, see other college students from different universities playing this. i was like new to it and seeing them competitively play it made me want to learn it more. yeah, it's unrealistic. I dont know what other people expect, its a 15 year old game. but being fan of the anime, and when hitting the apex good, shaving off seconds from your record, hitting those gutter runs and hairpins, it felt so genuine. eventually, i became friends with those other uni guys (and girls) cause I was like alone admiring the game. then i got good with the game. started to visit other malls to invade other player's territories (in a fun competitive manner) :D then met people who started to admire the game for their first times. so i taught them some tricks (TST, Boost On abuse, secret car, erase).. this was more than a game to me... happy times :D Shout out to Initial Arcade V3 SM Manila Philippines players :D

@@kanseiboi7630 You let your opponent get ahead of you first. The wider your gap with the player ahead of you, the more boost you get, and the more the AI Slows your opponent. You can easily observe this on the easiest track, Myogi. If you let your opponent get ahead of you, say 20 seconds head start, you can observe that their top speed is capped around 170kph. But you on the other hand, when you start accelerating, you'd reach 220 in no time. So to the audience, it'd look like your giving them advantage, but actually its you who gets the boost, hence, the abuse.
(edit) But this only works on PVP. You wont get this boost against AI on story mode or Time trial.

Takumi is outclassed. He has to heel-toe every downshift and this guy has a manual-sequential.

I absolutely love this game. Don't know how much money I spent on this at the arcade, easily over a couple hundred! Gonna have to install this now. I wished I found this video sooner! It looks great!

the graphics are actually pretty good looking for an arcade game
For a mid-2000s arcade game running on cheap 2001 hardware (Naomi 2). Arcade games used to be very expensive because of the hardware that pushed graphics unlike anything you've seen. Model 3 games still look very good even after 21 years. Scud Race was released in 1996, you should check out its gameplay.
For an arcade game? Arcade always has the best visuals.

hey there how do you use the gutter drop technique? you downshift to 3 at first hairpin then upshift to 4 to second??
I haven't played ID for some time now, my computer broke down a couple of months back, so I can't remember how I managed to do it :\
Just put your front tire into the gutter, that is it for gutter drop. It will allow you to go faster in corner, but you can still hit the guardrail if you are over speed.
gutter drop has to do with both your inner wheels dropping in, it wouldnt work with just one.
Its an actual rally technique, the idea was the gutter would be useful so you wouldn't slide out after maxing out the cars turn radius at your speed at the apex. In the game however, you see people try to stick the tires in there and end up just grinding the inside wall instead because they saw that's how it happened in the anime.

If your really skilled with gear shifting braking and getting great corners when memorized the course he is a walk on a park though if your trying to loose him you gotta hit some perfect corners with great speed (like 120-130kmh)

I used to play Initial D at the arcade very well when I was in high school thinking I'm very good at driving. Man reality hit so hard when I got my drivers license. Now I only play Sim racers like Project Cars and Gran Turismo. Game like these are just way too unrealistic.
It's because they were designed like that. Also I love your Gundam SD pfp, anyways initial d is a slightly realistic anime so that means these games are closer to the anime than real life.

Hey I was wondering if you had any tips on the game? I've been playing it at this arcade and people take it pretty seriously and do like tournaments and I've been practicing for a while but I can't seem to get much better.
I'm not even a competitive player and have never mastered the game, my times are way off compared to those pro players, can't give you much advice but you just have to familiarize yourself with the different tracks, it's like a try and error kinda thing for me, if I don't make it through that corner then I'll shift or brake earlier next time, etc.
it helps too if you understand how a racing line works, eg: going to the furthest side from a corner and then turn in to the apex

random question: just curious about the legend of the street akina opponent selection lol, is the last person after you beat Takumi, Bunta? just guessing but i was curious
yes, it's him, but you'll have to defeat every character in every map before bunta can be unlocked and challenged in the story mode
It's still a damn shame that none of these games were ever released to US consoles. This would've been a massive hit
Lmao turn the steering sensitivity to 6 and you'll be able to hit corners faster my guy...you nailed the ditch grab in the middle of the map :) you can get that time under 3 mins in no time

I can't help but notice that your wheel returns to center once you let go of it. Is there a setting you're using on the wheel's PC software that lets you do that?

if this is like street stage which is a port of ver.3 for the psp then there are two takumi's first stage which who he is racing there and project D takumi which is the second to last opponent (final one being bunta) project D takumi is only hard because of the boost he receives during the begining of the race which is uphill after the uphill section its just downhill with a bunch of turns making it very hard to pass him but not mess up in the first section also you could potentially be in front of him in the tunnel that changes the uphill to downhill but he will pass you no matter what so yeah stage 4 takumi is harder than stage 1 takumi

any tips how to improve my graphics on this? my computer is hooked up to my monitor using an HDMI cable, i dont know why when i load up this game, it looks like 15-20fps graphics looks old and distorted. i dont remember it being like that, something must be wrong. can someone help me ?

I'm using gpudx11 plugin, but that internal res part is disabled along with shade effects.
It does open up under gpudx11old plugin, but for me it crashes on that plugin.

0ReJCaPrI0 thanks, yea I'm using the same default, but just curious how well it will look with higher inner resolution. I've read on few forums it has something to do with new amd drivers. Awesome driving by the way! I'm planning on getting a wheel and playing this for real. :D
SeNniN I'm using a AMD card too, but I doubt you can get any more graphic quality out of the game, it was originally made for old school 4:3 screens anyway :/

0ReJCaPrI0 yea but usually what it means by higher inner resolution is that, it will actually make the overall resolution better and smother. The textures are rendered in higher resolution. Lots of emulators offer higher resolution than original system settings. It will take off some of the edgy graphics, since it's more noticeable on lcd panels rather than older tv that were used back then.

may i ask how it is you have the speedometer??? different rom version? settings? I've been struggling with keeping track of gears without it.
I've tried both the initialdv3e and initialdv3j roms, they display the speedometer as expected, I'm just playing with mostly default settings other than custom wheel controls, I'm not sure why you don't have it but my best guess would be to ask if you are using an older version of demul?

Hey guys i had a problem here, i notice the card progress wont be saved the second time u put in the card. Eg. you create the card and play for as long as u like for 1 time, after you turn off the emulator and turn it on again, the second time you play the progress wont be saved , means the progress you gain only able to save into the card file during the time when you first create the card. any guys having the same problem?
Never had that problem, my data always saves onto the card file, just had to hit the button assigned as card insert upon game start Edit: Sorry didn't realize that I already answered you before on my other video :\

a modern core i3 processor with a 128bit gddr3 card and above should do fine, but of course if you have a better setup the gameplay would be less affected

man the only arcade games ive seen of this are 8 at a local arcade and 4 and 6 at a mall arcade. i played 4 and it was pretty decent for the hardware at the time. this game ive only played the psp port but its still the same but no miki and no akina snow. im thinking of getting extreme stage for ps3.
