    We used to make our own when I was a kid, it was a little more homemade though, I think dad used a torch and some sort of old miniature cast iron pot. The mold was very similar to what you have though 👍
    The only thing I ever learned about catfishing was to freeze your meat of choice onto treble hooks with a square piece of pantyhose about 2'x2' square pulled up around the meat and corner's pulled through on the treble hooks so it will hold the meat from being stolen by the cat's. Freezing the meat on already made up treble hooks with the pantyhose in place was a surefire way to go catch a limit.
    Of course you'll have to use a swivel because once you catch a fish the meat on your hook will either be gone it thoughed out, so you can just grab a fresh frozen one from your cooler.

      Hey Rowdy! That’s cool you had experiences with your Dad doing this kind of stuff. I fished with my Dad ever since I can remember, although we didn’t do this stuff 😂 my Dad was all about Muskie/Bass fishing and that was it! So anything besides that I’ve had to learn on my own or with the help of youtube 😄. I really appreciate you dropping by and sharing your experiences. It’s always fun to hear other people’s way of doing things. Thanks again and fish on buddy 🎣😎

      @@Paulcatchesemall sometimes every little tip can help, the frozen meat can be a little slow to get started but the pantyhose helps with the theives 😆

    Great idea to save money! Those are some pretty weights! I hope you catch a bigun! I've got some buffalo cut bait, thinking about dropping a trot line out there somewhere

      Thanks man, I’m hoping to get into a few big ones! I’ve never used buffalo, but I’ve heard it’s great bait. Let me know how that goes. Or better yet make a video! Thanks for dropping by and showing support Edo. It’s much appreciated 🎣😎

    I always wanted to pour my own weights. Just never went ahead and did it. Man for 20 8oz weights on Amazon their near 40 bucks! And these bait shops charge high dollar for them! I know they got to make money but man 😂. Great video l know this will come in hand for you.

    • @Paulcatchesemall
      @Paulcatchesemall  3 роки тому

      Man I got mine off Amazon too. Just too expensive. Yea I like to support the local bait shops but also those can get pricey too. There nothing like using your own tackle. I enjoy this a ton and look forward to doing it again. 🎣😎

    Make sure you check the wheel weights. Older ones are lead but now they are made from magnesium. Normally 20-30 percent is lead now. Get some mold release or just smoke your mold with a candle and weights will just fall out.

      Thanks for the insite Mark, this will be my first time melting the lead down from wheel weights, so all the information is much appreciated. Thanks for the continued support. Fish on buddy 🎣😎

      @@Paulcatchesemall a lot of videos on how to tell apart. Easiest wire cutters if it dents lead if it doesn't throw it away. Also you can try plumbing companies for stuff they tear out. Construction tear down lead sheets or scrap yards. Think it's about 40 cents a pound. Or just buy it already done lol. Cheapest I've seen think it was 1 buck a lb. Diving weights as well. Sailboat keel is all lead be enough for a lifetime.

      I’ve seen the wire cutters deal. That’s probably the route I’m gonna go. Thanks again man!

    So are these the main sinkers you use when your catfishing? I’ve never used 8oz or that specific kind before. Great video, ima try this sometime here soon! Another great video man

    • @Paulcatchesemall
      @Paulcatchesemall  3 роки тому

      Yea these are the main kind I use. I like them for anchor fishing and drifting. The river I fish usually has some good current running so 8oz is a must. It’s a lot of fun to make your own tackle. I really enjoyed it. Let me know how it goes when you get around to making them. 🎣😎
