I really enjoy your tent reviews, Andrew. I just had a nosey through your previous videos and I don't see any Trekkertent reviews. As you will know, they are a Scottish company who make quite a wide range of tents. Do you have any plans to test out any of their products in the future? I'm particularly interested in their Saor DCF model which looks like a good (but pricey) 4-season tent.
Yes I like the Saor too, Unfortunately they are so relatively rare I'd have to commit to buy one which I've swithered about in the past. Might be one for 2025 unless they want to loan me one ( and pigs might fly ) !
An interesting experiment Andrew. I did wonder (until it popped up at the end) where the thicker poles had come from. They certainly didn’t cure the problem. Strangely, IIRC from other testers videos, heavier (10mm DAC ?) poles do seem to help significantly in strong winds with the Hilleberg Unna - which appears to be a similar style and size to the Pretents Border.
Yes I'm definitely thinking of getting 10mm DACs for it. I reckon Nortent poles have a softer compound metal which might explain some of the bends I've seen in other videos and postings.
That was quite windy. But the tent seemed to handle it fairly well, especially with the extra walking pole. The tent fabric did seem a little thin though? Historically, I’ve always been a Hilleberg tent guy myself. However, you inspired me with that Rab Latok Summit video you did a while back. My next tent will probably be the Rab Latok Mountain tent. I just have to sell a couple of my Hilleberg tents before I make my purchase. ATB from Norway 🇳🇴
@ Yeah, poles on the inside is something I’m not used to. But if setting the tent up in high winds, it kind of makes sense. You can support the tent with your own body as you are putting the poles into position. I saw a video, where a guy was setting up the Latok Summit in very high winds created by a wind machine. He supported the tent fabric with his body and got the poles into position, while the wind machine was really blasting him and the tent. I kind of understood why it was ok to have the poles on the inside. I’ll see if I can find that video for you. ua-cam.com/video/mJWGe2ShgR4/v-deo.htmlsi=6KQ1mFnadtrccFaa
That's very interesting Andrew. What about entrance on the downwind side and tail upwind? Would there still be zip creep? That seems counterintuitive that adding the vestible increased the stability. BTW, who could forget the Ferrino Solo tent ripping out completely at the guyline attachment and the tent flying away? ( to...Oz?, i.e. not Kansas). And that it was captured on your camera.
Hi Andrew , Anthony here I'm interested in the nortent vern 1. I like theold fashion, modification and hiking pole hack , that your visual illustration shows the difference. And just wanted to ask your honest opinion on the tent ⛺️?
My opinion on the Vern 1? I think it's great, although I'm not convinced by Nortent poles which I think have a fairly 'soft' compound. I'd be swapping them out for DAC if extreme weather camps is likely . A
Great to show this, Mr.P . At first seemed to be not flappy, just moving all as one. Not a bad , but not brilliant performance eh. 3.5 season rating? Have you not got a real anenometer?
Good experiment Andy. Can I ask where you get the wider diameter DAC poles? Is it SMG? Or do you buy online? I've been thinking about beefing up my Xenon as the poles are spaghetti. Saying that, it held up two weeks ago on top of the golf ball at Lowther hill in 35 plus mph however 10 mils would be great if I could get them
Totally off topic, I was looking through your videos for a review on an e scooter. I know you’ve done plenty of bike reviews. I’m sure you did a scooter review. 🤔. Currently laid up with a broken ankle and was looking for a temporary mode of transport….
Interesting. Definitely carry the vestibule for those windy nights. 👍

Thanks for watching all this time 😁 I'm fairly tempted by the Latok mountain 2 again, just wish the poles went on the outside 🤔

Beautiful nature
Another informative video Andrew. Are those shoes to aid search and rescue in an emergency? Are they the Olympus?
Haha they might as well be 😂 Altra timp 5

Haha, I still have PTSD from that 😂 i need to try it tail into wind but it could really do with a guy line in the middle of the panel I reckon

I'm hoping to get an off road one shortly but haven't reviewed one yet 🤔
@ thanks Andrew. I can’t remember who it was. Just need to get out the house…. I’m not a man that likes to sit still even when injured 😂
@rossbovill4548 🤩
