  • Roman Empire starting in the Classic Era instead of Ancient, right in the large forest with many resources around, there is only one problem: Augustus Caesar is surrounded by aggressive savages that considering themselves as rulers equal to him. O mighty Emperor, will you put these stinking barbarians in their place and build a civilization that will stand the test of time, or Rome will fall again?
    I made this battle using Vox Populi (global modification of AI and gameplay) forums.civfana...

    This might be the best one yet. Rome was the tragic hero, pulling together Atilla and Nobunaga in a triumverate against the Mongol horde. They pushed the Mongols back, and things looked great, but his trust was his downfall when Atilla betrayed them both and ruined everything.

      I was thinking right around the fall of Japan that Rome had a fair chance of winning if and only if Augustus didn't get stuck in a war with both the mongols and Attila. Against one he would have won (I think) but against both it just wasn't enough. Mongolia was great once it finally got its momentum back after Rome pushed it out of the southwestern provinces.

    Attila ruins everything every fucking time. Their aggressiveness trait is not only other peoples downfall but their own. Him, Rome and Nobunaga were clearly holding a strong defense against the Mongol invasion, but they just had to backstab their allies. Taking Kyoto and then making Rome fight on 2 fronts. Idiots. Obviously, they were doomed from the start of this and the mongols easily swept the floor from there on out. smh.

    • @Perunajumala
      @Perunajumala 6 років тому +5

      You see, the government was couped by Enrico Dandolo and secretly renamed to the Merchant Republic of Venice, so they couldn't build new cities.

    • @reAuxal
      @reAuxal 6 років тому

      Theres a thing in vox populi called supply limit which limits the amount of military units you can have. You can gain supply from population, buildings, cities, or wonders and lose supply over increasing tech or war weariness. So at most a one city Rome could I'd say at most 20 units, and I'd say that AI was doing really well, but was too preoccupied with building wonders.

      There is not much to guide. Just build EVERY ONE OF science buildings and culture buildings as fast as you can. Wonders are good, but they are useful only when they are supporting corresponding buildings (Ex : parthenon supporting amphitheater). Guilds are good, but they are stronger when supported by corresponding cultural building (EX : amphitheater boost the writer by 33%). Even if you are playing as Egypt, wonder is something you should try when you are sure you have, or will have enough buildings and armies. Of course things get different when you start your policy from honor though. They get culture from killing and science from capturing cities after all...
