i wonder if this would be easier or harder with a wood-grain spray paint or painting technique. i've mostly done texture spray paints for stone or sandy type textures so i don't know how good the wood ones are, but it seems like it might save a lot of time and look more like a door made from a big piece of wood, as opposed to cobbled together from small pieces.
Possibly! Definitely worth a shot. If you end up trying it or see someone else try it definitely let me know I’d love to see! ♥️ I actually didn’t even know they had wood grain texture spray paint, that’s really cool!

I made my hobbit door but realized it’s in the center of a wreath I have hanging on my downstairs bathroom door so my sign will say “No admittance except on potty business” instead of “party business”!!! Lol. I crack myself up. 😅

I am deeply, deeply in love with this diy and I definitely want to try it (though I might have to go a different route for the wood circle... must think on that [oh hell yes I just had a thought about keeping an eye out for a round mirror/picture frame from the thrift store and making a smol one!!]). It might wind up being one of the things that I do for International Hobbit Day next year :D I too, am painfully familiar with the 'gotta get this Very Specific Item for this Very Specific Project' and then either flat out forgetting what it was I needed it for or losing interest when I finally get said item :/ The little mushrooms are so adorable! And the painting looks really good, though I'll admit I'm curious as to how well it'll hold up if it were going to spend any time on your front door...

If I were to put it outside on my front door I’d probably spray a couple coats of matte top coat on the paint job then spray the foliage with scotch guard to protect it from the elements. Fortunately I’m using mine indoors so it will probably last.

Awesome video! Love the extra detail of shadowing and highlights on the door. I did not make a hobbit door but I did make 2 large Christmas wreaths yesterday all from bits found at my local thrift store, total cost was about $11, they turned out really well.
I love that! Thrifting faux floral is something I’ve been trying to do lately instead of getting it at Michael’s when I need it. It’s so much cheaper for sure!

@@DressMeUpScotty I think you could easily be both!! just put on one of those flowy dresses and braid some parts of your hair and I think you'd look quite elfy. The ears definitely help!
