    Guys, thank you so much for this video. I bought a refurbished Optiplex 3050 and straight out replaced and installed dual drives (nvme m.2 and 2.5 ssd) and boot up can't find either drives. After first following instructions from another video and than running diagnostics test it show an "X" next to hard drive! I said to myself what do I do now? and what about my files (photos & videos)! this is so terribly bad. These problems always start when windows so call updates or up grades. In this case I was in the process of resetting windows 10 (with save files option). When followed your video and did the process again which had some things in reverse from the first video, it now show a check next to hard drive along with every thing else. Dell PC is now back in resetting mode but still at 88% where is was before the boot error notices . However it maybe working. I am 65 yrs old and don't know much about these systems. Thank You For your Help

      If it shows the hard drive as failing in the diagnostic only once and the rest of time it passes the diagnostic. It could also be a sign that the hard drive is starting to fail and needs to be replaced.

      @@EggheadFixers Thank You Again For Your Help Video. My Dell Inspiron 17 7779 in now working but some photos files were lost and some were duplicated. Having problems now with the Windows One Drive app. The problems with My PC always occurred right after Microsoft upgrades or updates? It just so happened that windows had just upgraded Microsoft Edge about a week ago and low and behold my PC stated to malfunction! As you suggested, down the road when I'm able to afford it I may have to replace the hard drive. This is so disappointing! By The Way, in BIOS under Boot Sequence where in your video it says "Windows Boot Manager" but in my page it says "UEFI: STIOOOL MO35 - IRKI72. Partition 1". Upon clicking on the "View" button to select "Windows Boot Manager" nothing happen, it did not respond and I could not change the setting? @@EggheadFixers Hi again, in reply to one of my questions earlier, you said "If it shows the hard drive as failing in the diagnostic only once and the rest of time it passes the diagnostic. It could also be a sign that the hard drive is starting to fail and needs to be replaced." Now the diagnostics for my Dell Inspiron 17 7779 is again showing an "X" next to hard drive and a test error code: 2000-0142. The funny thing is, after following your video my PC seems to be now running great despite the X next to hard drive and test error 2000-0142. It is booting faster, loading faster, it is no longer freezing up as if nothing was wrong. Latter on however I checked the wires connections inside the PC, I also disable the One Drive app which gave me problems and now the hard drive is again showing passing in diagnostics along with every thing else. Can't figure? Never the less, as you suggested, I am looking into replacing the HDD or add a SSD hard drive with old HDD. I notice there are two types of SSD for my PC. There is a small size like the one in your Dell shown in your video and the bigger one which looks the same size (2.5) and fit in the same place as the HDD inside my PC. Which is best and can I just install the smaller SSD together with the HDD still inside? Thanks Again For Your Videos and Help!

    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  3 роки тому

      @@tbird10030 Yes you can install the smaller SSD as long as you have a port for it. You will have to set the SSD before the HDD on boot order so when you install the operating system it will boot off the correct drive. One benefit of doing it that way is you should be able to pull files off the HDD on to the SSD.

    QUESTION: I have a Dell Optiplex 390. Whenever I select UEFI, it tells me there is no bootable device available. Also, "Advanced Boot Options" is not available in the BIOS. So, there is no way to take any checkmark out of the "Legacy" option. Is there a way to update those BIOS or fix that? Also, when I select "UEFI," there is nothing to select for "Booting." I have heard Windows is supposed to take care of that. And the computer comes back with a message saying it tried to do that "Automatically." The computer tells me to select an option in UEFI and save the settings. The problem is there is nothing to select.I am using Windows 10 Pro. Can you please help me out. Is there any way to make it so this Dell Optiplex with the LGA 1155 A00 Motherboard can use an SSD with GPT UEFI? Or does this computer have to remain in MBR Legacy mode?

    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  3 роки тому +1

      What happens when you run the diagnostic? Does it read the SSD as being there? Also does it pass the diagnostic? You may have to fix the setting then reinstall Windows. For Windows 10 to function properly it needs to be set on UEFI with secure boot on. As for the boot order Windows should do that automatically but in rare cases you may need to add your SSD as a boot option manually.

    • @michaelzoran
      @michaelzoran 3 роки тому +2

      @@EggheadFixers I made sure the SSD was GPT when I cloned the MBR HDD. The PC "attempted" to load the UEFI features "Automatically" according to the computer. However, it would not work.
      I then selected the option to run the diagnostic. This was a UEFI type of graphic menu. The SSD and HDD were recognized, and so was the RAM and everything else. All of the features of the PC successfully passed the diagnostic test.
      Unfortunately, nothing would work. The SSD simply would not allow the SSD to boot up as long as the SSD was in GPT.
      As a result, I reformatted the SSD. I formatted it into MBR and cloned the HDD again. This time the SSD booted properly - but only in "Legacy" mode. Nothing would allow "UEFI" mode to be selected.
      The Dell Optiplex does not have the ability to choose "Advanced Options" or "Secure Boot" in the menu. You can choose "UEFI," but as a result of not having the ability to select "Advanced Options," you cannot select the option "Not" to run in "Legacy" mode.
      It seems as though the Dell Optiplex 390 with the LGA 1155 motherboard does not have the ability to boot a GPT HDD or SSD.

    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  3 роки тому +1

      @@michaelzoran Ya it may incompatible. Also I believe with GPT HDD you need it to be set on UEFI so if you can only boot in legacy that is most likely your problem. What operating system are you trying to install?

      I would check your Windows logs to see if it is recording an error at the time it’s giving you the
      problem. You can access your Windows logs by going into File Explorer, right-clicking on this PC,
      clicking on manage, expanding the folder Event Viewer, and expanding the folder Windows Logs. I
      would check applications and the system and look at the date and time to see if there are any errors
      logged for when you were having the no sound issue. You are looking for errors that have a red or
      yellow symbol next to them. If you see one that fits the right time. Click on it and you can google the
      Event ID and source for solutions to this error.

      i recently bought my dell inspiron 3650 used in november. in january, i started hearing squeaking noises coming from the pc. that was when i started getting errors that no hard drive was detected but then it continued to boot and work fine just a little slow. it started giving me boot loops that would last about 5 minutes saying it was diagnosing my pc and attempting repairs until eventually i couldnt boot it anymore. when it brought me to the automatic repair screen, i decided to reset it and remove all my files and i chose the option to reset if i was recycling the pc which i wasnt by accident. i finally took it apart and looked at the hard drive which i was 99% sure the problem was and i disconnected it and reconnected it but that didnt do anything so i took it back out and left it with my computer apart for a week or 2 just giving up on it. today, i decided to try one more time and i ran the diagnostic when you press F12 and it said everything was fine, including the hard drive. before that the bios said that there was no hard drive but after i did the diagnostic for 6 hours or so (the long one) i went back to bios and it showed my hard drive. this is where my problem is now... everything is functional according to the diagnostics i did. the hard drive is there and working. i still cannot boot up windows. it just brings me to the automatic repair screen and says that it didnt start correctly. please help. thank you

      Bios will most likely look different but if you run into any options not being there just skip to the next step. Some of the older models Dell are set up more simple so you may not have all the extra options. They are also easier to work on so you have that on your side. Let me know if you have any questions:)

    Hello. I have a problem. My usb mouse was broken and i had error “power surge on usb port damage”. After couple of this errors my Dell lagged and blue death screen appeared. I reload my laptop because of instant 0% - and then after restart black screen appeared with “no bootable device” error.
    With diagnostics on F5 i have problem “hard drive not installed”. Changing boot settings from Legacy to UEFI didn’t help.
    Is my hard drive dead, or it can be revived? Will be all my data gone? Or it can particularly saved? From D drive at least

      If your Hard Drive failed the diagnostic then unfortunately you will need to replace it. Here is a video on how to replace your hard drive and install an operating system:
      Windows 10:
      ua-cam.com/video/TElCJDbKdKk/v-deo.html
      Windows 11:
      ua-cam.com/video/mNN9ssGCxig/v-deo.html
      If that hard drive is dead then sometimes you can try to hook it up to an external hard drive port and retrieve your data. This will only work if the hard drive is not to dead. Let me know how it goes:)

      Usually when you have a black screen but it displays without a problem to a monitor, then it usually is an issue with the LCD (screen) or LCD cable. It can be a loose connection or that one of those two parts has gone bad. There are some rare cases where it's an issue with the port on the motherboard but that is very rare.

      You may need to make sure the computer is al the way off to enter BIOS again. Turn the computer off and hold the power button down for ten seconds after. What happens when you run the diagnostic? Does everything pass?

    My laptop Dell G3 is stuck on the Dell black loading screen. My friend and I ran scans and repairs on BIOS bit and nothing has helped. I also don’t have a legacy option on my BIOS bit, not even and ‘advanced boot option’, any advise? 😢

      Sorry to hear that:( If all the hardware passed the diagnostic then the next step would be to try reinstalling the operating system. Usually this problem is caused by a problem with the operating system. Here is a video on how to do that:

      You can skip the part of the video about replacing your hard drive. Let me know if you have any more questions:)

    I bought a Dell Vostro 3670 computer that came with the Linux Exploitation system. When I entered Windows 10, it started to boot with the USB flash and would not open without it. How do I solve the problem please 🥺

      If your Hard Drive failed the diagnostic then unfortunately you will need to replace it. Here is a video on how to replace your hard drive and install an operating system:

      Have you tried flashing BIOS? If that doesn't work then you may need to replace the motherboard all together.

    After I did the boot test it said that nothing was wrong with anything in the pc, however when I turn on the laptop the windows boot system says that something is wrong with the boot system

      The system also claimed that there were no hardware issues. Next when it tried to boot it would show the dell logo and the screen would go black. This is repeating endlessly
