You have to admit this video is emotional and devastating, especially the ending scene, and his voice is simply beautiful. It is especially heart wrenching to find out that the woman in this video is his mother. I'm no fan of Kanye, but this is a beautiful, timeless classic by him.
His voice is auto tuned to death and sounds very amateur. What is the story about his mother? I keep hearing it but do not know what this song is even trying to portray.
The auto-tune is used to portray broken emotions; makes his voice sound more robotic. It's something that Kanye has done more than once, including througout 808s and Heartbreak (the album that this song is from).
TheSillySquirrel I just don't get it. These people keep saying, "I'll believe this is HIS song when he sings as good as PTX. "Are you fucking serious? Guys, he is ONE GUY. PTX sounds good, because all of their voices in harmony cover each other's mistakes. He's singing alone. And this song is inspired by the death of a loved one, which PTX is not singing it for.
TheSillySquirrel I agree wholeheartedly. I've said before that I love this too, the only thing is that scratching sound effect; I think it kinda takes away. But overall it's so beautiful and sad.

ah thanks, i usually associate the entire breakdown as one big event, i mustve forgot the year 808s came out. But thanks! I can't believe i slept on Kanye for so long, ever since 2012 i've really gotten to love his music
I love artists with an over inflated egos. When you believe in yourself that much you are destined for greatness. Us, the regular crowd, are struggling to attain a higher self-esteem. I think our biggest mistake is believing there is a destiny. That idea hold us back hence the thought there is only so much you will be able to achieve. God bless us and give us the strength and inspiration to fight for ourselves and believe in our dreams. Our success is as big as our goals. Love and peace to you all!
The deepest video he ever made just the whole cinematography and emotion plus those drums. This album is absolutely legendary and helped me through my darkest moments.
I first heard of this album about seven years ago, and it's stuck in my head since. This album was so timeless you can never really get over its artistic approach, the raw emotions behind Ye's lyrics. It's almost like he pioneered an entire generation of artists encompassing what had been the "standard" features/key elements of HipHop.
I always loved this album even though I am quite young but after I lost my father at 12 it holds a place in my heart because of how much it helped me and I will never forget it. Music is truly powerful and this album is very underrated.
It seems like this video is dedicated to two things, his mother who he lost shortly before the album's release. "Coldest Winter" referring to the Chicago winters they lived through together and had memorable moments during and now he is having to say goodbye to his mother which he refers to as his"friend". The theme of the video seems to be a protagonist trying to escape the darkness of reality such as death, sadness, and loss while still avoiding the hurdles of confusion and loss of identity expressed via the dark forest. The song and video come together as a brief, emotional, yet beautiful composition channeling the pain associated with the loss of a loved one that all can relate to. However, Ignorance blinds many to the beauty of this work and cannot fully grasp the message of the piece past the visual of a woman running through the woods being chased by ominous, dark figures. The imagery provokes said ignorant individuals to automatically assume that there is an undertone of demonic subliminal messaging.
Unicorn Lady (formerly archiecook55) yeah but trump wasn't really known for being stupid before running for president. Kanye however, everybody knows he's stupid and arrogant. Also thinks he's way more intelligent than he really is... that's coming from a Kanye fan. Smh
Trvp Game I'm not saying it would be very likely and personally I would never vote for Kanye to be president. I'm just saying I wouldn't totally dismiss the possibility after seeing what happened in this year's election.
death is chasing his mother. she survives for a while but then she gets to the cliff the end of her life. she knows this and falls. she's then caught and taken to heaven
He sacrificed his mom. That's why he goes so crazy trying to explain to everyone how he is Walt Disney. Hes Harriet Tubman. Hes God. He's Steve Jobs, hes Versace, he is realizing that his time is almost up with his deal with satan and his moms sacrifice are not going to matter when hes long gone cause he will have to suffer for what he did. He lost everything in hopes to be cemented as the most important person in music, if not all of history. More than Jesus. We see this with his blasphemy. And yes. He did make Jesus is King. Which is an amazing thing. But when you realize he's doing it for the wrong reasons youll see hes back to putting out blasphemous music in the apple stream for DONDA his mom. The album. This is a spiritual battle going on and no one can see it. Im not saying Jesus cant save him. What i am saying is god only knows the sins hes committed. I mean he brought a fake Jesus Christ on stage that acted like a cool hippy that needed Kanye to tell the crowd hos truth for him. On his YEEZUS tour. Cause he wants to be as greatly known as Jesus is and was and will be. But he will never so he's having mental breakdowns and I wouldnt be surprised if theyre still using mind control tactics on him with his handlers
@@uwaisalqarni2653 word. It was litterally a cult of demons in a circle slowly draining her essence until evil swallowed her up. Because of Kanye. Fucking satanists man.
One of the first CDs I ever had was one of Kanyes first albums that my cousin gave me. It was the one with the work out song on it. I wasn't exposed to much mainstream music at all at the time and I absolutely loved that CD. Idk how he manages to do it but I love every album he's put out since. He's incredibly creative and talented.
It's this time of year when he left. I was re reading msges leading up to everything and this song came to me. My son is 3 months now, my precious angel. Crazy how he just walked away and never looked back. I guess that's the most painful part considering someone your friend and they treat you like nothing.
I'm a big strong man and this song brings me to tears. Winter - 10 years ago - this song was poppin', i was with the love of my life. Then a few months later I let her go. I regret it to this day. This song brings me back everytime.
There's only need I love your need So much I'm losing me I cannot see the reason for the Pain With hungry joy I'll be your toy Just hoping you will play Without hope my body starts to fail Memories fade but the scars still linger Goodbye my friend Will I ever love again Memories fade but the scars still linger I cannot grow I cannot move I cannot fell my age The vice like grip of tension holds me fast Engulfed by you What can I do When History's my cage Look foward to a future in the past The more I talk The more I say The less you seem to hear I'm speechless in a most peculiar way Your mind is weak Your need is great And nothing is too dear For you to use to take the Pain away Memories Fade No don't pretend you can justify the end Memories fade but the scars still linger
i felt like i had to listen to the original after that cover by ptx... but the fact remains the it was possible through him... thanx Kanye West for the composition OF THS SONG
This is one of thoses songs where if you understand the background behind it becomes so much more impactful. The song itself is amazing and just has an atmosphere of despair and desperation. When it comes to the songs in this album so many people forgot it came out over 10 years ago. While we can argue about what version is better the fact that Kanye took a risk to express himself with this album changed the music industry forever.
That feeling when your trying to enjoy a Kanye song, but people came to insult it just because they prefer a cover version of it. Seriously do you people realize that Pentatonix covered the song because they enjoyed it?
I think the intro was made during the Twisted Fantasy sessions. It has a that kinda sound to it and the video came out nearly a year and half after 808s
all of the videos made after the album dropped have different versions of the songs. this, paranoid, and the unreleased videos for robocop and street lights

ah thanks, i usually associate the entire breakdown as one big event, i mustve forgot the year 808s came out. But thanks! I can't believe i slept on Kanye for so long, ever since 2012 i've really gotten to love his music
Lorenzo Anderson The video came out February 2010.
Nice Jack
He actually made the song after learning of his Mother's passing, dedicating the song to her
I love artists with an over inflated egos. Love and peace to you all!
damn
I 100 percent agree
Leave it to God.
Let it go
Be a better person
Where the fuck did that ever get anyone?
Our destiny is to achieve our dreams
Why did you post this twice on this album?
Janete Santos underrated comment
The deepest video he ever made just the whole cinematography and emotion plus those drums. This album is absolutely legendary and helped me through my darkest moments.
The drums on this song bang so much
True, they don't make music like this no more
My mom died when I was 14 and this album really helped me cope with it
love to play this song on these cold winter evenings. Sets a dark vibe with holloween and Christmas tone to it. simply mazing
Haha, me too, it's like a really dark holiday song.
Roland Orzabal's Masterpiece... old stuff always good stuff... Bravo!!!! TEARS FOR FEARS...
Indeed. I love TFF.
Yes
Dog just died right now in the winter. This helps a lot thank you Kanye.
Instant Flame .that's the best reason. But still tears for fears did it better.
Kanye west isn’t the best at singing but his voice is so filled with emotions people can feel it
Tears for Fears - Memories Fade
it's abnormal how much i love this song
so much regret and emotion of loss..most can relate to
I always loved this album even though I am quite young but after I lost my father at 12 it holds a place in my heart because of how much it helped me and I will never forget it. Music is truly powerful and this album is very underrated.
Weeknd is making sounds like this after 15yrs
I love you Kanye!
Damnnnn. Please write all my Literature essays from now on. Lol. Nah but for real, that was a good explanation.
Minkailu Lamin Thanks man
This is art in literature
Nateturalkicks Kicks Thank You
+Nigel Langley she died in 2007 bro
Still a classic 2021. Kanye, timeless music

Kanye is the musical genius of our era
Blasted this entire album all the time in high school. Time flies man
Best Kanye song fr fr
This is so pure art
KANYE FOR PRESIDENT
Lmao he will get humiliated in 2020 and when he loses HORRIBLY he'll probably say some dumb shit like it's rigged or racist.
People said Trump would never win and he's called the elections rigged and said dumb things too.
Tibor Dumitrescu Smh I bet you're one of those kids who thinks Kanyes a Genius.... try again
Such a great song.
Have you heard the original song?
***** what is it?
justin bear Memories Fade by Tears for Fears. I like Kanyes song more but Memories Fade is worth checking out :)
YoDawgoneeleven .better by tears for fears.
It drives me crazy that people don't know the original song is from Tears for Fears
Why is this song soooo underrated? I think this is Kanye’s best song ❤
Funny because it's not his song
It is a music from Tears for Fears
death is chasing his mother. she survives for a while but then she gets to the cliff the end of her life. she knows this and falls. she's then caught and taken to heaven
otakuTREs Is that what you think Heaven looks like?
@@PrincessJ0607 facts !!!!
This definitely means darkness took his mother
This is art.
YE always been ahead of his time
Imma leave this comment.
Any like I’m back 😊here
One of the first CDs I ever had was one of Kanyes first albums that my cousin gave me.
Just keep looking to the hill from whence cometh your help
he was so ahead of his time
Is
The messages in this song are haunting
i love this version and pentatonix's version. both are so haunting, yet chill at the same time
ikr
finally that enjoys both versions for what they are
Too bad they're both not as good as the original source material.
I'm a big strong man and this song brings me to tears. Winter - 10 years ago - this song was poppin', i was with the love of my life. Then a few months later I let her go. I regret it to this day. This song brings me back everytime.
Its 2019 and I still find myself engulfed with this album...one of his best
This song speaks to my soul.
In the deepest levels of the dark night of the soul
Kaynes songs help me get through
Love this forever.
There's only need
I love your need
So much I'm losing me
I cannot see the reason for the Pain
With hungry joy
I'll be your toy
Just hoping you will play
Without hope my body starts to fail
Memories fade but the scars still linger
Goodbye my friend
Will I ever love again
Memories fade but the scars still linger
I cannot grow
I cannot move
I cannot fell my age
The vice like grip of tension holds me fast
Engulfed by you
What can I do
When History's my cage
Look foward to a future in the past
The more I talk
The more I say
The less you seem to hear
I'm speechless in a most peculiar way
Your mind is weak
Your need is great
And nothing is too dear
For you to use to take the Pain away
Memories Fade
No don't pretend you can justify the end
Memories fade but the scars still linger
Kanye's magnum opus.
Peak creativity and genius on display.
i felt like i had to listen to the original after that cover by ptx...
but the fact remains the it was possible through him... thanx Kanye West for the composition OF THS SONG
This is gonna be the only sing by Ye that can make me cry.
Try "Never See Me Again"
try "come to life”
Nice version of Tears for Fears, Memories Fade from their first album The Hurting, 1983. Like it.
I can't believe that came out 40 years ago. Now I feel old :)
I prefer this version to the one on the album. It's longer and More orchestral!
He added some stuff to the video version of paranoid, too!
One of the best videos ever
This is one of thoses songs where if you understand the background behind it becomes so much more impactful. The song itself is amazing and just has an atmosphere of despair and desperation. When it comes to the songs in this album so many people forgot it came out over 10 years ago. While we can argue about what version is better the fact that Kanye took a risk to express himself with this album changed the music industry forever.
This song is a remake..
@@ThatMcflyGuy And you can't read.
One of the best creation from Ye❄️😮💨
That song and that album.......... GENIUS
That feeling when your trying to enjoy a Kanye song, but people came to insult it just because they prefer a cover version of it. Seriously do you people realize that Pentatonix covered the song because they enjoyed it?
another classic kanye!!!!
The videos for 808's are all so good. This one feels like a mini movie
"memories made in the coldest winter"
One of the greatest lines that I've ever heard
Johnny b Goode memories fade but the scars still linger
One of my favorite songs.. one of my favorite albums ever. Kanye, you musical genius. Thank you for 808's.
Bumping in 2023. Amazing music.
I can hear a lot of The Weeknd's early works sound on it. Ye really created subgenres of r&b and hip-hop with 808s & Heartbreak.
Why did he remove the intro on the album? It was awesome
Tbh I preferred the album version. That's just me, though.
I think the intro was made during the Twisted Fantasy sessions. It has a that kinda sound to it and the video came out nearly a year and half after 808s
They added it
all of the videos made after the album dropped have different versions of the songs. this, paranoid, and the unreleased videos for robocop and street lights
