@@avnishnagwanshi There have been a lot of disagreements on the status of the languages in India in the comments here. So was it incorrect about scheduled languages? And about an official language, well, that's what I read in the Constitution.

    • @avnishnagwanshi

@@SeagulltheExplorer In short there is only 22 + 1 official languages in India
      A. 22(Actual Indian Subcontinent Languages) - mentioned in schedule
      +
      B. 1(English) - enshrined under Art. 343(2) of the constitution.
      Background
      Why no National language ?
During British India, we had three official language Hindi, English and Urdu. Ya no National language even back then.
Out of these three languages one had to be voted for National language.
      1st language
Urdu was majorly associated with Muslim population which came to an end with the separation of Indian part (Now Pakistan). Since the Pakistan already had this as their National language and also this being associated to a religion it would have hurt the sentiments or spirit of multi-religious nation. So they dropped the idea for this right at that moment. But they incorporated this in the schedule as official language, (so don't get confused).
      2nd language
Hindi would have been the national language since it achieved the majority through votes but non-hindi speakers didn't agree on this. They started protesting against the govt.
      3rd language
So govt. Introduced English & everyone accepted it coz Britain had influence all over Indian subcontinent so the southern part of it India had some bit of English influence too but govt. didn't wanna make a foreign language as their National language, which was forced on their people. At the same time they didn't have any other language to make a national language, so they made it official language along with Hindi and some other regional languages. It was initially supposed to be for only 15yrs (till 1965) after commencement of Constitution (26/Jan/1950). They thought within this time span everyone gonna get mature enough to accept their own language as their National language but it never happened. It's the reason why we have only official languages not national. With time, the new amendments added more and more official languages to the 8th schedule.
What is schedule and what makes it different from constitution?
Schedules are part of the constitution itself. They contain extras and miscellaneous stuffs of the consti. If they have been directly incorporated within the const. It would have been even bulkier so the constitution makers separated constitution and schedules to kind of distribute the bulkiness.
Our Constitution is so complicated that's the reason many Philosophers consider India to be heaven for lawyers. It's too difficult for an normal individual to understand the insights of this damn book.
I didn't cover the whole aspect of it but I think this is more than enough to make understand what is what.
As a law student, I felt bad when u were confused but I knew it's difficult for an outsider to understand something that even my people don't know about properly, even though they follow this on daily basis. What I wrote up there is just a casual sarcastic joke that we do with each other in our law college. Probably its in our blood we every damn time react sarcastically. So don't take it seriously. You did ur best. I know how hard it is to read someone else's constitution when u have never studied same kind of tricky constitution before.

Six seasons: varies between regions. But broadly speaking:
    1. grishma = summer (apr-may)
    2. Varsha = rains ( jun-jul)
    3. Sharat = Autumn (Aug-sep)
    4. Hemant = pre-winter (Oct-Nov)
    5. Shishir = winter(Dec-Jan)
    6. Vasant = spring (feb-mar)
Also in languages, you mentioned Sanskrit. Tamil is also an ancient language. Perhaps just as old as Sanskrit. And it’s still spoken, albeit in its modern form, by a very large number of people in India and the diasporas.

Tollywood (bengali film industry, not the telegu tollywood) was the very first Hollywood-inspired name, dating back to a 1932 article in the American Cinematographer by Wilford E. Deming, an American engineer who was involved in the production of the first Indian sound film.
All other indian film industry adopted that naming style later.

I am really happy that you had some basic knowledge about india😊..thank you for understanding out culture...btw..as you are interested in languages
In ancient times..sanskrit was the most widely used language in india..sanskrit was mostly an oral based language...later the writings emerged from the brahmi script...As time went on sanskrit started branching into other languages like ..marathi , bengali , hindi, punjabi etc..
In south india ,its completely different , tamil is one of the world's oldest language , was written in a completely different script...the tamils had great amount of influence in south east asia.
modern day khmer, thai , bahasa indonesian , burmese and other south eastern language scripts emerged from the tamil-pallava script
There are many tamil words in korean language also, it is said that a princess from the south travelled to korea and married kim suro(the prince)
there are 5 states in south india...
    1. tamil nadu state speaks tamil
    2. Andra pradesh and Telangana speak telugu language
    3. Kerala speaks Malayalam
    4, Karnataka speaks Kannada
the chola empire of tamil nadu had huge amount of influence in south east asia...
they once ruled most of south east and are one among the longest ruling empires in the world(for more than 1550 years)

You are absolutely right. In India especially where it's possible to have, 6 seasons are recognized winter, spring, summer, monsoon, autumn, late autumn (or the season of fog and mist). But in southern india its mostly summer and monsoon (in many parts its twice a year, due to retreating monsoon winds).

    • @dwaipayandebnath4232
      @dwaipayandebnath4232 2 роки тому +2

Also additional info, hindi was recognized as national language as you said after independence.
But the southern states especially Tamil Nadu didn't like it. Since they are really proud about their language and the whole tamilian culture is based on language in its forefront.
And for centuries tamilains have prevented the sanskritization of their languages.
On the contrary Malayalam (spoken in the neighboring state of kerala) has been encroached by sanskrit. So you can understand they had a strong feeling towards sanskrit. Even to this day you don't expect Tamils to speak a word of any Sanskrit based languages especially Hindi.
So there was a Tamil language movement back in 50s and 60s, where they said they would rather speak the language of the imperials than hindi. A famous slogan, "Kiss english, than hindi". After that the parliament of India amended the constitution of india and in an ad hoc manner put English in a complicated way and put 22 scheduled languages. And the protests subsided.

@@SeagulltheExplorer no worries. It just that they have seen northern Indians as imperialists just coz of language difference. They do have their niche culture. But it's mostly on the same line as the rest of India, let's say religion wise. But over language it's a whole other issue.
But well as long as people are happy, I think it's fine.
But sometimes it becomes difficult for northern indians to travel to Tamil Nadu due to language issues, but a fair amount of tamilains do speak english. If you wish to check about how language influences tamil culture you can check out the video by cogito. Actually I came to know about it from there as well and later on I did a few background checking.

Yes you are correct on the language issue. Fun fact: in the beginning, only hindi was the official language. But it was mostly spoken in the northern regions. Southern Indian states didn't like hindi to be chosen as the official language. They protested against this. Then english was also included as another official language because english could incorporate these states too. Every southern state had a different language(s), but they more or less spoke english as well.
And yes, the difference in number of languages is because of the difference in opinion on what is considered a language and what a dialect.

Actually, every 50 kilometers the dialect changes and every 300 kilometers the languages, cultures, traditions will completely change. Hindi is like a linking language between northern states but English is kind of merge the whole country. Moreover, every indian is a bi or trilingual for sure. In short, India itself is not a country it's a seperate continent. You can find beaches, desert, volcano, snow, heat, waterfalls, dense forests, rainy area, seasons, elevations, island....we got them all! Keep doing more content about India. Love from Tamilnadu 😇❤

    you make it complicated! 🤣
    it's very simple!
there is no national language, our constitution was written in Hindi and English but Hindi is not implemented as national language.
So, every state has it's first official language.
Gujarat speaks Gujrati, Maharashtra speaks Marathi, Hariyana speaks Hariyanvi, UP speaks Hindi and Urdu, Bengal speaks Bengali, Tamilnadu speaks Tamil, but Telengana and Andhra Pradesh both state speaks Telugu, hence
    22 recognised official language.
English is the second official language allover in India.(everyone has to learn English in schools)
Hindi is widely spoken in North India. (reason Bollywood)
You have option to study/write in the exam, write to government officials in any of 3 languages, your state official language, English or Hindi.
Our area has 4th option as Nepali because of significant number of Nepali people living in this area.
Check the name of the train station written on board.
a person in India speaks atleast 2 language. i speak 4 and 1/2, understand more than 8.😂
