Are the sunken parts of the nail weaker than a nail with no ridges. It makes sense that they are weaker than the ridged nails, but does that make them weaker than average? Or are the ridged parts just stronger than average?

I have them. Getting worse as I get older. My mother had them all of her sisters and her mother, too. Has nothing to do with moisture. I have been slathering my paws with cream for decades.

Consider having a nutritional panel run on yourself. Making sure you’re not dealing with anemia or vitamin absorption issues. Or just have the occasional steak, daily leafy greens, and nutritional yeast added to your diet. Also, make sure you’re not dealing with other symptoms that can also relate to more complex nutritional deficiencies and over exposure, but are more serious and complicated such as thyroid conditions where The treatment varies, depending on if you are hypo, hyper, or unstable. Not sure where to start? Pray about it, God will guide you.
