    Awesome! Never knew it had the frequency display on TV. I would have spent hours watching that alone especially at parties. Would like another video seeing close up of all output displays. Also one int the dark seeing it running all meters! Good stuff!

    I purchased two of these same systems in 1986. I still have one turntable, the equalizer, and am/fm stereo tuner today as a bedroom entertainment center. The speakers were large and took up a lot of space. I moved to a Condo so I replaced the speakers with smaller, Yamaha 8" woofer 5" midrange, 3" tweeter. It's perfect for a bedroom and still sounds great.

    The tube in that TV is great. Very square and flat, with a fine dot pitch. A shame the Sharp I bought at Costco ten years later was a major devolution, with a bulging tube like a fishbowl, and grainy resolution.

    I lived through that time and I know a lot of classic audio and video equipment from the 70s and 80s and, despite knowing the Fisher brand, I didn't know about the existence of this wonderful AV set. What an incredible piece of equipment! This is a jewel and is in an incredible state of conservation. This set is simply surreal and I believe the rack is made of solid wood, which makes it even more valuable. Keep preserving it with great care, friend. If you allow me some advice, I would tell you to never get rid of it.

    That’s very interesting. I have a boss down in Louisiana that I worked at his local grocery store and he owned the same system although I swear his TV was much bigger than yours but I plan to acquire that entire system but he has much bigger speakers, remote I tell you this, the fact that you can see the analyzer on the TV that was a selling feature that would make you buy the system back then to be able to see that plus all the on screen stuff And all the statuses of everything through the TV that was so much ahead of the time for Fisher to do all that the fact that your TV is he still working his day is amazing as far as the other equipment deck if you haven’t done it already to start replacing your belts And then eventually start replacing the capacitors and all your equipment said you replaced all the light and put LED but at least put new capacitors in it that stuff will last a lot longer but the fact that it’s working you got a nice system so definitely outdated, but definitely very cool. Obviously, you’re fisher collector I like it, I got some official hire and stuff also and some of that stuff is very collectible VCR yeah those VCR are pretty cool. I’ve had a couple of those over the years and all those are well built VCR’s.

    Imagine playing Nintendo or Sega on this wonderful system.
    All it needs is a period correct Fisher direct drive linear tracking turntable and, perhaps, a Fisher DVD player.
    Of course, the DVD player won't be period correct, but Fisher did sell some DVD players.

    • @ChrisGarage
      @ChrisGarage  4 місяці тому

      I replaced all the bulbs to LED’s in my CAV-875 as well. You need to use a current limiting resistor to prevent burn out. I used the 12v warm leds from parts express 070-134 go to www.goby-hour.com/electronics/ledcalc.php you can enter the voltage, etc and it will tell you the current limit resistor ohms

    Couple of things. Depending on how long you are keeping this, I would consider sourcing another picture tube and stashing it in a safe place. Picture tubes are quickly becoming very scarce, even for sets this recent. I would also seriously consider recapping at the very least the power supply. The caps in 80's era equipment have started to reach end of life.

    • @Artcurus
      @Artcurus 6 місяців тому +1

      Heater to cathode short. The guns wearing out. Filaments wearing out. I restored an RCA radio/phono from 1950. A heater to cathode short in one of the output tubes, 6V6, killed the B+.

      @@Artcurus thanks for the info. i grabbed a mid 80s vintage trinitron recently that seems to have had low use and works well but am worried about what to look out for. suppose i should do more research on preventative maintenance as well.

    • @Artcurus
      @Artcurus 6 місяців тому +1

      You can lightly tap the neck of the tube, if you see flashes on the screen, the tube is shorted. Another fault is gassy, meaning air has gotten into it. This will produce a "glassy" looking picture and possibly a blue or purple glow on the neck of the tube.
