I love Thailand. Lived there for two years as a boy from 1969-1971, in Bangkok. 30 years later I married a Thai woman and have been back four times since 2003. Been to most places in the video. Very enjoyable. My only recommendation for people that don't like cities, noise, etc is to stay in Bangkok for a few days, spend a few days out of the city if possible, and then come back to Bangkok. It can be overwhelming. The place is exotic, beautiful and there is ample KFC, McD's, Sizzler, Pizza Hut if anyone just has to have a fix of western food after a few days or a week. I was that way when I first went back. I could eat Thai food lunch and dinner every day but required an American breakfast. Now I love to eat Thai food for weeks before I need some western food. Sticky rice with mango is a very popular Thai dessert I love. Sticky rice is a more glutenous rice. When cooked for this dish it is pretty sweet. The rice is warm. The mango, which is placed on the side is cold and some coconut sauce is placed on the rice. Delicious, or as they say in Thailand; "aroy mach mach." Another very fun, and very inexpensive, thing to do is to simply ride the Chao Phraya River Express Boat. They have multiple docks throughout the city; all with maps printed in English to instruct riders on what docks to disembark on to get to various places like the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Keow etc. Sometimes we find a street vendor selling a wonderful treat; sliced fresh pineapple in a bag with a mix of Thai spice, sugar and salt, and just ride the express boat for a while. It's not a tourist trip. There is no narration. It's a transportation for natives to use to go to work and travelers to use to get from place to place. For anyone going to Thailand I would strongly suggest getting a book, video or online application that will help them learn a few basic phrases before embarking on the trip. Not only will this help with getting rides from a cabbie or a tuk tuk driver but it pleases the Thai people to no end that people take the time to try to speak their language. The very best thing about Thailand is the wonderful Thai people. Thai food is delicious. The whole country is beautiful and exotic, however, the very best thing about Thailand is the wonderful, kind, warm and happy people that live there.
putrakenchana I'm thai people and I was not like your opinion.!!!!! Every country on this planet No other place is the best Inc.your country also.!! If someone insults your country, I would think that you would feel the same like me now.!! Stop insulting other countries.!! Thanks !
I feel bad that all this conversation has been about prostitution/HIV. Thailand is a wonderful country with many more good people than bad. The prostitution in Pattaya, Nana district, etc gives a bad name to the whole country.
Hi Mark, My wife and I just finished a 3 day trip to Bangkok, and this video has made our planning so much easier. Thank you very much for your inspirations - I look forward to your videos not just only for experience, but also as a way to improve my life. Your smile, your love for your lovely family and the pure joy you bring in while creating those amazing videos make me really feel good about life in general. I wish there are more people like you in this world. I wish I could meet you in person in Bangkok, but probably next time. Thank you again. Sumanta
wow..such a beautiful city..it has everything.. mountain , river, fruits, market, malls, and I love how their people calm and always smile.. Bangkok is a beautiful city!
I've just got married to a Thai man , and we are planing to spend our honey moon in Bangkok . He always tells me that Bangkok Thailand is the most amazing country in the whole wild world and I wasn't really sure about it , but after seeing your video , I definitely agree with him right now !! I loved this video , so so helpful . Especially the food , I tried Thai food many times and I am more than 100% in love with Thai food more than I am with my hus Lol !! Keep it up !! Bangkok is the best 👌🏻👌🏻
Nice job of covering most of the attractions of Bangkok. The first time I went to Bangkok i fell in love with it. It definitely should be visited by anyone who loves travel and adventure. The greatest city in the world!
I like the way you first had a bite of Thai food, it's really made me think that I'm having that food myself. You've done it perfectly, nobody could ever do it like the way you do!
I found Bangkok quite intimidating as a Westerner. Barely anyone spoke English (and I mean almost no one...) and my Thai was very basic. That being said, I hired a guide to take me on a walking tour through some of the food markets. Thailand has, without a doubt, the most delicious food in the world. Our guide taught us some basic Thai, and the locals really appreciate it when you make an effort to speak to them in their language.
True. It actually bothers me a lot. I wanted to watch him bec his content is good but everytime i see him eat, it kinda turns me off a little. He looks like a nice guy though
I was in Bangkok in the early '60's and visited many of the sites you've shown. I ate at many street vendor stalls, bought many things for my family in Texas, and made many friends(such a long time ago.) I was amazed at the boats with the immensely long drive-shafts on the river, the beautiful sculptures, and the beautiful people. Thanks for the tour into memories! ... Clark
Hey guys, in case you were wondering how to get around Bangkok, here's what I know: Of course you have the Skytrain, the Metro, the taxi's/Übers and the boats, but the best way to get around Bangkok is by local buses. You get to talk to locals as you zoom around in a bus from World War 2 (some are old Hino's), and you see the city from a different angle, amidst the local people. It is truly fascinating. There are different types of buses - some with air condition, some without, and some modern, and some ancient. Equal to all of them - the cheap price. The ancient ones w/o air condition, are the cheapest. During a regular week, chances are you'll ride free about 50% of the time. If not, you'd have to pay a mere 6.50/7 baht one way. This ticket is practically unlimited, until you hop off. A few buses I know, and that I take often, are: - No. 2 - it is a red, very old Hino, without airc ondition. This one stops at Sukhumvit, Khao San Road (just next to it, on Ratchadamnoen Klang Road - a huge highway, you won't miss it. It leads to the Democracy Monument), Si Lom, Pratu Nam etc. You'd be much better off in a bus, paying only 6.5/7 baht, no matter how long your trip is, or how much traffic there is. - No. 152 is the same as above, only with air condition, and you'd have to pay 15 baht instead of 6.5/7. This one is blue, and with air condition. It is a little newer than the red ones. - Bus no. 47 goes to MBK (from Khao San Road) - red, old Hino. - If you feel the need to go to the Burmese embassy, take no. 15 (also a red Hino, w/o air condition). Some buses will say their route on small signs on the side near the doors (in English), and some will only be written in Thai. If there is a white sign, with red on it, in the front window, it usually means that the route is different than usual, and that the driver uses the highways. If you need any specific routing, check out www.transitbangkok.com/ - As always, great video Mark! I've tried some of it. I can also strongly recommend for anyone having more than a few days in Bangkok, to visit the Amphawa Floating Market. This is not touristy - very few go there. It is mostly Thai tourists, and it is a very pleasant experience. Make sure to go on a boat trip around the area, and see the fireflies at sunset. It is pretty cheap, expect around 400 baht, for a whole day, starting from your hotel in the morning, and returning around 8-9pm. Use Riis Travel & Tours on Khao San Road for your bustickets, tours, etc. - she is a friend of mine, and speaks very good english + very good prices! :) If any of you guys need any assistance, feel free to contact me. You're welcome :)
After having watched your recent videos from Prague, I've become a fan! Because as a local I often see poorly researched travel vlogs from the city I've lived in for 13 years. But not yours! It was relevant and interesting and didn't fall for the usual touristy stuff. I've visited Bangkok 6 times - and even though I have only knowledge fro a tourist's point of view, I found this video very relevant as well.
Great job! You are capturing the feel of Bangkok. I live here now in Bangkok and even after coming here for 25 years, I got a few new ideas of places to visit.
WOW Mark, that face you made when you ate the durian was priceless! You and I both share our love and passion for durian. Also, you are a great writer.
It's all about staying active and keeping your heart rate/metabolism up. You burn more calories than you take in. People get fat because they eat unhealthily and sit around all day doing nothing.
shiningcross What? It's all about your physical activity and diet. Sure, your genetics play a very small role, but you're not born fat. Being overweight is a conscious choice. If you dont exercise and you eat processed crap and fast food all the time with soda instead of water, you're going to get fat.

Hope it was helpful and please subscribe me i'm going to upload few videos of Thailand.
Well done, Mark. Love your enthusiasm and your knowledge, and the expression on your face after eating your favourite Thai foods is priceless. Keep up the good work.
I love Bangkok! I went there last January. Extended my stay because a volcano erupted in Manila. Stayed in crazy khao san road. Ate pad thai everyday! One of my favorite trips ever!
Hi Mark and thank you for presenting such a wonderful and comprehensive video. I recently completed a two week trip to Thailand, and I mist say, it was one of the most culturally enjoyable vacations I've ever had. I watched your videos before I went on my trip, and they were extremely helpful in planning to see the attractions that I wanted to visit. I also spent three days in the old capital city of Ayutthaya, While there, my friend and I rented a motor scooter and toured the ruins of many ancient Buddhist temples. As an amateur historian, I was in my glory. In closing, I want to thank you for your helpful traveling tips and suggestions. Without them, my vacation to Thailand would not have been the resounding success that it was. I definitely plan to return in the near future.
Wee are in Bangkok right now.. Watching the video has made me feel starting hungry haha.. Tommorrow is going to be a mix of sights and food.. The Day after wee head to hong kong...
wow Thailand is so cool, it even has a little India? hahaha that would be so fun cause I am Indian too lol, but this video makes my family love Thailand and in summer vacation I am going to spend my vacation in Bangkok cant wait to be here and enjoy
Bangkok is amazing place. I appreciate the detailed breakdown of all the best places to visit and things to do, and very proud of your accomplishments to partake in different cultures around the world. I support this channel.
Bangkok is an amazing city with hundreds of places to visit and food to try :-) But Bangkok is not only about commercial places and street food. If you want to discover authentic Bangkok we recommend to experience many attractions like: traditional Muay Thai fight or school, Wakeboarding, International Comedy Club, Puppet Show or Chinatown atmosphere in secret bar with live music.
I really like this video of 25 things to do in Bangkok, do you think you'll make an update of Bangkok after all this is the base of your blog. Looking forward to watching it soon.
I have visited Bangkok two years ago, it's really nice and amazing city, but my advice is to never visit it in summer, it's deadly hot with very high humidity
Hello Mark Wein Fans (and im a big fan) i just returned from Bangkok,Here is my new video on the Top 10 Things To Do In Bangkok,Let me know if you agreee,Many Thanks John.....TOP 10 THINGS TO DO IN BANGKOK (HD)
Dusit Zoo closed last year. Khao San Road starts filling the street with stalls early in the day but there was talk of the city changing the rule to less vendors.
Mark --thank for this video--been to Bkk 2 times already but missed some of your suggestions. leaving again to Bkk this November so will see all your suggestions. Thanks again. Tom--USA
This video should have been a little longer. It is so much to se and do here. Have been here about 10-15 times, and I will come again as soon as possible!
I'm a big fan of your channel, Marks!! I first came across your channel a few months ago when I was on exchange in the UK and became addicted to your channel. Then I realized that your wife is Thai. My mom's also Thai.
I'm so excited to go to bangkok this April of 2017 for the very first time. Thanks for this video, i'm definitely gonna check out a lot of what you featured in here. And also feature it in my new vlog. Thanks for being an inspiration to a newbie like me
You just left one 'must see' thing out. Next to the weekend market, close to 'On Nut' skytrain station is Bangkok's most amazing park. It is gigantic and you will not believe you are in a big city when you walk its paths... a must!
Man, 8 years ago I watched this video and subscribed to your channel. Time flies and now I live in Thailand myself... ;-)

Mark eats tons of food, how he manages to stay so slim ??
This should be the indecipherable mystery of the Orient!

i agree ... if I ate both would have exploded
It's all about staying active and keeping your heart rate/metabolism up. You burn more calories than you take in. People get fat because they eat unhealthily and sit around all day doing nothing.
look at the meals he consumes.
very little carbohydrate; many vegetables, white meat, fish ...

I really like this video, Thailand is one of my next places to know, I love the description of every place.
Keep going doing this kind of videos!!

Bangkok and Pattaya are the ultimate playgrounds for single men. It is nice to see the others things too, such as in this video :)
I'm so excited to go to bangkok this April of 2017 for the very first time. Thanks for this video, i'm definitely gonna check out a lot of what you featured in here. And also feature it in my new vlog. Thanks for being an inspiration to a newbie like me
Nice job!! Now I'm ready for a visit!
You just left one 'must see' thing out. Next to the weekend market, close to 'On Nut' skytrain station is Bangkok's most amazing park. It is gigantic and you will not believe you are in a big city when you walk its paths... a must!
Thank you so much!
I will be in Thailand in few months and your video helped me a lot to know what to do/visit.
