Damn, I'm a rower with no climbing experience, Iv never been climbing before but I love watching these videos. These guys are amazing athletes! Their grip strengths are beyond imagination.
For me this was just frustrating to watch . This choppy disjointed mishmash did not reflect any of the moves clearly and definitely did not show off the skill of any of these top climbers nor the difficulties each faced on the route. I have watched via Eric Karlsson how epic this route actually is and the incredible amount of thought, passion and work the route setters put into creating it, but got absolutely zero impression of that epicness through this video. With the budget, manpower and equipment available to epic tv you would think maybe they could produce something more .... epic ?
He's a great youtuber but I don't think I've ever heard his name thrown around as being one of the best climbers in the world, but maybe he just does more indoor stuff I've mostly watched outdoor stuff.

I love how the walls look when all the main ceiling lights are turned off and they are just using spotlights along the route. It sets a very nice mood for the whole film.
Eric also went through 8 episodes to show the difficulty, so its kind of hard to compare those to a 9 minute video. Since it was a spectator event it would be annoying if there were videographers/photographers on the roof getting in everyones way.

Alex can’t climb this hard of a sport route. If you was a real Alex fan you would know this. Higher and without rope makes it more dangerous but doesn’t make it a harder climb.
Alex is just not interested in to conquering hard Boulders. If he is into it, he would be on top of it. You may find several videos of him climbing hard boulders. And he did so smoothly. He is not like Ondra who dedicates his time to connquer boulders. Alex is on another level. The level that none Will even try to follow his step. Not even in the near future. Because Akex's game is about a 100% of contentration. It's a perfection to its finest. There Will be a lot of more skilled guys like Ondra, Magnus, Sharma, etc. There Will be more climbers conquering hardest routes. But, there Will be no more other Honnolds. That's what I call as legend of any sport! Any sport!

Ondra trained like 4 years specifically for it and even invented new, specific training methods just for the route (together with his physiotherapist). And additionally to (or "despite of") all this training Silence is actually suited for Ondra's strengths.
Well I would say that is wrong. Become if something is difficult it implies that it is possible to over come. Impossible is not a difficulty because it is impossible... It's not a high level of difficulty if it's definition goes against what the purpose of a challenge is...
in my opinion no body tops Alex Honnold, watching him free solo is like watching a ballet absolutely beautiful the way he moves gracefully and with such ease, incredible.

To be honest, i don't know anything about climbing or such sports, just come upon these Alex videos and getting thrill by watching them. And come across this, claiming the best climbers of the world, CONFUSED.
They have a grading system in climbing. In Europe it goes from 1 - 10 with a,b,c behind to describe difficulty. In US the grading numbers goes from 5.10 to 5.14c. As you heard in the video this run is a 9 b,c maybe a 10. US grading it will be a 5.14c Different routes different difficulty. For example El capitan (freerider route) that Alex free solo climbed has a grading at 5.12d

Inconsistent, but one way to know which way is the ground is by looking at the powder bag and which direction it hangs.
