The Greatest Climbing Gym In The World? | Climbing Daily Ep.1272 - Спорт
What I want to know is, would this facility be suitable for National Team training?
They do use it for that. I was there and saw the french, Belgium, slovakia and austrian Climbing Teams

Anyone see the dude at 7:15 crushing the Boulder with just 1 leg?
5:10 the guy had 1 arm
always flagging
less weight
Absolute hero.
Those are Martin heald and Matthew Phillips from the gb paraclimbing team
Wow. This video is simply remarkable. This gym looks like it is worth the pilgrimage. I might have to put Innsbruck on my honeymoon list. Of course I will have to put a wife on that list too, but 1 thing at a time.
holiday will do
Dan Outdoors but you have a belayer until death do they part
If you need a couch to crash, I live 10 min away from it!😁
LukVonTrug that must be amazing living so close to this man!
I like your attitude
This gym video is legendary, with so much going on in the background: the GB paraclimbing team (TIL! Didn't know about these guys, saw in the comments), the one-armed climber, that climber destroying the route in the background with a single leg, & that girl in a wheelchair (with a climbing outfit on, ready to campus!), multiple national climbing teams, Germany's Alex Megos, USA, Japan (two of whom finished 1st and 2nd against HEAVY competition in the IFSC 2019 Bouldering World Cups, Tomoa Narasaki & Akiyo Noguchi - congrats, both of you!), Jim Pope just casually working out, that speed climber just running up the wall. Props to you guys, Matt & the EpicTV crew for grabbing all of these amazing shots.
This isnt a gym
This is a fake mountain
But it's not fake
😂😂😂😂
Ironic. Like. We are speaking of Austria. In Germany this contry is synonymous with mountain lol
LOL
Yea 😂😂
wait....5:04 you said "we already had 1 accident" ..guy walks by with 1 arm....im like. what...??
That and the girl in the wheelchair
Paraclimbers!
He is on the British Paraclimbing team lol I doubt it was a climbing accident
Thats really cool!
Best. Timing. Ever! ^^
No wonder Austria is killing it in the comps!
wow, just wow. This is a dream gym to visit. no doubt.
The comp boulder wall outside is also part of the regular gym and the lead walls outside are jawdroppingly massive. You don't really get to see that in this video.
When you arrive there the first time you will understand why this gym is arguably leading the way in sportsclimbing.
I wonder how much they spent just to purchase the 10 billion holds.
The rumoured costs of the facility are at about 16 million € so you can go figure :) Amazing to be there.
In Austria they don´t spend - they invest.
@@htlhausi How they ever got that money? Even 10 years collecting money it's still insanely much
@@Keyakinaas a national training facility the money was split between the state, the federal goverment and some private funding afaik.
Edit: beeing partnered with so many brands i guess there were also some heavy discounts. But this is just me guessing..
@@htlhausi That's actually less than I thought it would be.
I’m not even a climber and I want to go here
I learned climbing in this gym, kinda spoiled all others for me 🙈
Super dope looking gym, if only it wasn't 5400 miles (8700km) away.
I know that feel for me its about 1km:p but if you get the chance to come here one day do it! :)
Oof 😂
Awesome man!
What a luxury it is to have access to a world class facility like that
This climbing gym is insane 😃
Take a shot every time he says "national team."
And 'athlets'
Take a shot every time he says "Awesome man"
This is the training facility
I've heard that so many times
I woke up the next day drunks as fuck
Government probably paid for expenses
Construction: How big do you want the gym. Owner: Yes
6000 m^2 is huge. My gym is quite big (3000 m^2) so I can imagine how huge this place is. I hope to visit someday.
Very glad to visit that place 4 times a week! :) Everything is truly awesome there. One thing that does bother me though is the time it takes for new routes to be set. I'm in there bouldering very very often and it seems like it takes 1 month for a small section of wall to be replaced with new routes. I'd like that do be more frequent as I know literally all of the boulders all the time.
Normally one of the boulder walls is changed every wednesday! I heard all of the Routemakers are in holyday after having so much stress at the wm ^^
Robert Kelzo oh yea that sounds plausible :D
How much does it cost? It seems climbing is a sport for the rich. so that is a turn off
@@nofurtherwest3474 definitely not! The great thing about climbing is the climbing centres have all of the gear already, you just need to bring yourself and your sneakers. If you start to get more involved then you'll often end up buying a pair of climbing shoes but most centres will offer a memberships or a small entrance fee and the ability to borrow climbing shoes. It's cheaper than a gym in my area. If you want to get into it, research the climbing gyms near you and go and talk to some of the guys that work/run it. Super fun :)
@@tessaofhyrule Thank you. And is it safe for kids? My kid is 6 and loves to climb
Absolutely amazing - the focus on both national teams and the public is tremendous
What an amazing place. Congratulations for such a good job building and managing a state-of-art climbing facility.
I would be definitely not climbing and instead, watching Japan team training.
Jesus Christ this is like a 500 million-dollar facility
The year membership card is around 600€ (650$), they dont have million members, but tens of tausends very likely + plus all the courses and competitions... I think they make take money back in 10 years.
just 16mill Euros
@@Wolf3fd doubling ur money in 10 years is same as a loss
@@samsheepdog697 lmfaooooo you are an absolute tool.
Im going there this summer. Can’t wait to step in and start bouldering and climbing
This place is insane. I wish there was a place like this near my town. I would be there all the time.
Look amazing. Also love how you can see many disabled climbers. Most climbing facilities cannot cater for the disabled. kudos for being so inclusive.
Wait, why not? I don't see anything different about this gym than any other. They're just climbing with less limbs - you can do that anywhere.
David
Climbing is a pretty accessible sport as long as you’ve got the ability to have body strength.
Only problems I know of are:
Stairs and no lift, which I don’t imagine is a problem here because 1) appears to be ground level 2) it’s the para team in the background so they probably have decent prosthetics. (Although even then shit happens, stuck in a wheelchair for a bit, prosthetic needs resized/repaired/replaced injures etc)
Harnesses. Here I’m assuming the harnesses fit them, but depending on where you’ve lost your leg some harnesses don’t fit/aren’t safe (supposedly).
Akiyo and Tamoa just chilling in the background haha
Is that Akiyo Noguchi chilling in the background at 8:58? She's something else!
Love the accident description, and how quickly it was moved past.
When i see my climing gym at 40 minute from my house and the higest point is 11 meter with no boulder, that video make me dream a lot
Noam Brecin Climbing is growing fast. If you only have a small gym close to you it's likely that a new one will appear at some point!
Mine goes up to 45 ft (13.7 m) I believe.
Mine goes up to 29m, it has a big boulder area and it is 15min away
But there is 1 gym closer (about 5min away) but there is only a big boulder area
I’m in wa all we have near me is a lead climbing small gym and a large bouldering gym.
I travelled to and am currently in Innsbruck to climb in this gym because of this video
Heldiney Pereira Awesome! How’s it going?
Adam Sasso amazing! Worth the trip.
this gym was my first boulder experience. Then I bought climbing stuff and started the higher walls!
So... apparently this gym can facilitate a one armed person, a person with an artificial leg, and people who have to roll in on wheel chairs. Amazing
this place is so big, totally worth going on a trip around europe just to climb in different gyms on an every other day basis.
These colorful grips everywhere make you feel like in heaven
That is absolutely incredible! I love everything about it!
Great that they have a space for the paraclimbers to not be disturbed as well as the other national teams. Amazing looking space. HUGE. Not sure I saw many (if any) auto belays for someone of my limited abilities.
Damn I want to visit there!! 🤭🤭😂
I was bouldering there today :D. It is awesome.
Wow! This gym is crazy awesome! I want to live here!
Wow! I wish I had a gym half that fantastic in my area!
Ohh this is heaven. Not only a kick ass gym, but you can get a post climb BEER right in same place. Not to mention, located in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Yessss
props to the dude at 5:05 with only one arm in a climbing gym
Lol Tomoa Narasaki at 3:45 spotted him instantly from his body shape, very recognizable silhouette
5:05 The dude has just one Arm. 7:15 The dude has just one leg. RESPECT!!!! I use my two arms to put on make up, and two legs to walk to my dressing table.
So psyched to go there soon!
Amazing!!!!! I have to go tehre once...
One really awesome thing are the Toppas (self-belay devices) they have on some walls. You can climb at least a few long walls without someone to belay you. For most climbers, this is probably irrelevant, but for beginners who haven't found a climbing buddy yet (like me), this is super awesome.
The lack of structure walls (with a shape that mimics rock) is a bit disappointing though.
Wow, thats the olymp for climbers. Was Jan Hoyer also there at 3:28?
yes it was jan
You mean the 3 Germans right before 3:28? No, that was not Jan, it was Nils Helsper, Thomas Meier and Peter Kunze from the Paraclimbing Team Germany. By the way there are lots of Paraclimbers from different nations in the video ;-)
Impressive. I want to know what the operating costs are and how many route setters they employ.
I'd like to know how much the membership must be for them to actually make any money.
@Jujimufu & @Tom Boyden : There must be some way you chaps can sponsor your way here!!! #Jujimufu #TomBoyden
This is now on my bucket list
This is absolutely insane! I have to visit. That is so crazy
Simply amazing.
I´m so looking forward to moving to Innsbruck! *-*
Very beautiful, we have similar in Slovakia in Zilina, called La Skala. Try to go visit :)
Wow this place is amazing
I've only done bouldering twice but I already want to go here, lol
That traverse 😱
Every time he says “national team” take a shot. CATION: Will cause death do not hold me responsible
Looks great! - Was here also David Lama?
Wish i was stationed closer to this place.
insane! i want to go so bad
this is crazy, what a gym
9:22 That random kid who just fell was awesome
Holy shit & I thought the gym I go to had a huge bouldering area! That place looks amazing, I'd love to go there
This is like some sort of climbing mecca!
What a beautiful gym 😍
The biggest climbing gym in the world is "Kletter- und Boulderzentrum München-Süd" with around 7.800 m2
Wow bro i really want to visit such a climbing gym
Imagine trying to get planning for this in the UK
There is a guy in 5:09 that doesn't have an arm... and he is in a climbing gym, he is a fucking legend
Oh I really wish that I can live there.
King Julien från Madagascar...am i the only one that hear King Julien?
Just waiting for him to yell att a guy named Maurice
You should come to Chicago to vertical endeavors! It’s the worlds largest climbing gym
Well it used to be
Went there last year the the lead was amazing but the bouldering was a bit disappointing
The leadwalls and routes are fantastic, by far the best I have ever seen. On the bouldering I agree with you.
I visited Innsbruck last week, the Bouldering is decent I think. Just not as outstanding as the lead.
the boundering looks great too tbh
Awesome, man
I love how you can see amputees climbing in the back. And fight me on this the Paralympics are more impressive than the regular ones
It's about twice the size of the gym where I live. But if so much is reserved for professional level training, I'm not sure if it's worth going there.
Wow awesome!!!
Insane gym!
I wanna go there 😫😫
Sounds like a softer spoken Arnold Schwarzenegger! What an amazing place!!
I want to go to there...
Given what climbing blocks cost, it would be interesting to know which cost more, them or the building! :-)
wow. amazing
proud living in innsbruck
5:09 That moment when you're talking about having a fall accident and an armless kid walks past you.
i wish i could go here one day bro
10:38 is like my whole gym
sooooo awesome!
Incredible
At 5:05 he's telling how someone fell with no injuries, while there is a man without a right arm passing behind. Not gonnal lie, gave me a good chuckle.
"This is the so called national training centre" 😂😂😂
the interviewer was really well prepared
Could they make a winter training center?, easy, leave tap open at the top floor and let it flow against the outern wall. Frozen ice wall, 1st in the world.
I’m not even a climber and I still want to go here
5:06
"And he had fallen from the top, and he had nothing"
2 seconds later: guy walks in with an arm missing. (Respect to him though!😁)
I would love to see the financials of this place. If he put in roughly 20 million even if just 20K of his 170K user are full time members that’s still (using average gym costs) 8 million dollars in memberships and assuming its 20$ for the day that’s another 3 million for the remaining users. Running in the green zone of profit in 2 ish years that’s insane. My guy is living the dream.
5:03 Fell from the top. Was he OK?
I just wanna live in Innsbruck
