I think I'll wait out this current generation of planars and go for other unique things. I have five of the previous planars, the Dioko, S12, Timeless OG & AE and Hook X and so far none of these seem to bring something worth more. Thanks Akros.
You have an excellent selection so I sort of understand your reluctance. Hook X was an excellent Planar as was the Timeless AE. AE was plagued with the same problem as S15..... price was hard to justify. Dioko of the above selection is the blandest one, but I get why you would select it. I think the MP145 would probably be the most sensible choice was I to choose one, but again I see why you want to wait and see. If however you have the opportunity.....listen the S15 and MP145.
Glad to see the Wu Zetian here, sadly it seems you can't really buy it any more. It's so meaty and warm sounding, I love mine and it fits me really well.
There were a lot of planars - but in the end there were S12 and P1 Max. After long comparison, the S12s were sold - Panda is much smoother and sound can be adjusted with different tips. In S12, the cymbal is always in the foreground, and the vocals are always in the background (with Panda they sound at the same level). And with the S12 it is impossible to correct the sound with tips - since the lower high frequencies are very bright and you have to listen with the narrowest tipes of the Final type (3.2-3.7 mm).
If price is no concern then S15 for smaller size, but for value MP145. When I am wearing my Hidizs the size of the earphone is not a concern for me. Good review.
Enjoy your takes. Your reviews are always a great reference. I had an S12, enjoyed them but nozzles were just a bit too short, and sonically they had a bit too much stylized sizzle. Thankfully, found the P1 Max - just perefect, glad you enjoy as well.
S15 graph nearly identical to P1 Max from what I've seen so far. I'm sure S15 is good and maybe a tiny improvement, but I just can't see the justification to spend $315 for V2 of P1 Max. From my experience listening to 7 planar iems, they are just slight revisions and side grades to each other.
Thanks for the review. Letshuoer has lost me with their price. At $315 compared to other choices in the market, I think they priced themselves out. The look and cheap accessories make it even more difficult to justify.
Agree on the look and accessories, but at some point better versions of already good planars need to come out. Cant have every planar be a $100-$250 IEM. Idk if the S15 are the ones to call a straight upgrade, i havent heard them, but gotta let brands try and improve. Theres a lot of people who are willing to pay about $500 or less if the product is genuinely great, cant just neglect those From this review alone, it seems like they arent quite that straight upgrade described though. Paying $200 extra for a marginally/debatably better IEM in this price bracket, thats uglier, makes no sense.
@@PantsaBear im returning my mp145 and ordered the s15, i cant stand the size and weight on the mp145, they just became unbearable after a while, and i did love the sound a lot. I hope the s15 sounds at least as good, but the main issue was the comfort between those 2
@@residentzerothey aren’t really heavy though. Ikko oh10 or moondrop kato are heavy. I think mp145 is about as heavy as the s12 pro. Now big, yeah they fill the entire ear lol. Luckily they are super comfy for my ears, even with the weird earhook that needs to be a bit smaller.
@@Hijynx87 I got SpinFit W1 with my Letshuoer S15 and it's the most comfy thing. The sound isn't as good as the MP145 at all, a bit darker and less soundstage. It's definitely a downgrade once you get spoiled to listen to MP145 even once, but they're still very good on their own, just not espectacular and require more burn in. They do shine in a subtle way. Still, not as comfy as my EW200 which are great for movies, perfect. So I leave the S15 exclusively for music. I don't even wanna think about the MP145 because I feel sad I can't use them.
Thanks for the review. The actual situation of the ChiFi is in a very delicate position in my opinion. Right now as customers we're getting exceptional values with IEM under 150 dollars to such a point there's almost no incentive to spend anymore than that and since ChiFi companies need to obtain a certain sales volumes in all of their price range of their products to make a profit, I wonder in the long term if they're not driving themselves to the ground?
Thanks Akros! I'm looking for something with solid, punchy bass for electronic music. Do you think mp145 is the one to go or would you choose other iem? It doesn't have to be planar. Price 300 bucks tops.
I just decided to buy the MP145 after long search and demo listening. Thank you for your descriptions! What dac/amp under 150€ would you suggest to pair with MP145? I had Dragonfly Blue and sold it, because I felt claustrophobic with it's sound ambience. I'm trying to understand which dac sounds more open and sunny.
Thanks for the video Akros! I still think that the S12/S12 Pro is still a top pick for $150. in reference to the dongles that you use with the nx7. Between the shio and the cda m1p, which one do you recommend? I have the shio that they sell to me for $40
Thanks for this review. Have you had a chance to listen to the hey-day? which seems to be a retuned wu zetian? I wonder how that one stands besides these two reviewees. I also wonder how the F1 pro you reviewed this week and gave your best overall of that group, would stand beside these two beasts, cause honestly those F1 shells are a beauty and very comparable in terms of price to hidizs 145. Cheers Tony
Excellent review. What is for you the best lush ,musical planar model with sweet highs and upper mids between all of them?(i'm treble sensitive and i'm suffering from tinnitus and i like to try the planar technology). Thanks
Just finished this vid, and the other planar comparison you posted. How does the bass quality compare between the mp145 and the simgot ea1000? The iem rush seems to be calming down, so best in each category at 200 dollars or under might be a good idea. I have a feeling that those two sets would make it into that video, along with the Chopin. I don't know what all ba set you'd go for, those seem to get good at higher price points
HI Arkos, could you please explain why do you use headphones amplifier? Does 240 mW balanced output is not enough for such earphones? Does ru7 do better with 400mw output?
What I am looking for is amplifier headroom.....which margin of power do I have before non linearity and distortion starts to happen. One thing is to use the doogle power with let's say 50% volume ....another is powering it through a NX7 where I'll have it at 25% of it's capacity and obtain the same power. Also by powering it with NX7 it has its own battery so I don't drain the phone, again providing more margin before any sort of clipping and distortion happens with the amplifier. Of course I don't .ax put the NX7 because om some earphones it gets ridiculously loud.
@@akros9333 I've ordered usb c extender to have the external power for phone's dac dongle. Thank you for your answer. To select a proper input source is also very interesting for you viewers.
Would it be worth upgrading to the MP145 from 7Hz Timeless? I currently use a Questyle M15 dongle DAC/amp, 4.4mm output & my phone as source, but I am considering upgrading the DAC/amp to an xDuoo XD05 Pro with Sparkos SS3602 opamps and addon AKM DAC card, as well.
@@residentzero I'm currently trying to decide on an upgrade from the original Timeless to either the MP145 or 7Hz's new Timeless II. I have big ears so the size doesn't bother me.
