Hi Denizen, thanks so much for your comments, it takes a lot of planning to put a video together. It's an ongoing journey of improvement so thanks again. These will come out either monthly or bi monthly depending on the suggestions I get. Thanks for watching

I was taken back by the enormity of this production. Barrie brings this abandoned tunnel back to life again for our enjoyment Praise is given to the pioneers of this railway system. It gets creepy with paranormal activity. There is no way I would go there on my own. I am sure to watch it again.

Hi Sam, thanks so much for the compliment. This tunnel is beautiful, I did not feel any scary paranormal feelings in no.4 tunnel, number 3 felt "darker" to me. I tried to make the video as though you are there. Thanks for watching.

Train driver here. There is a tunnel that has its entrance between Cleveland St and Redfern which you can see it in the middle of all the tracks. It was a gently falling grade but is now mostly filled in and I don't know if it's still accessible. Back in the '90s when you could just walk into it, I explored it for a distance and unbeknown to me on the way in, I passed a branch tunnel on my left which I didn't see until I was coming back the other way. Heading back towards Central, it's on your right hand side and appears to go around a right hand curve. I thought about walking into it but decided not to. Not that I'm scared of the dark as I've explored all kinds of disused and abandoned places on the railway, but because no one knew I was there and I'd already taken enough risk for one day. If I tripped and broke my leg, I'd likely die down there and never be found. When I went back to Central, I told several people what I'd seen. Most drivers know about most of the disused and/or abandoned tunnels but none had ever heard of this one and neither has anyone I've told ever since. There are also never-used tunnels at ground level behind platform 10 at Redfern. These can be seen if you stand on a seat and look over the wall near the stairs leading down to platform 10. I've also walked right through there until I came to a steel wall. There was a hole in it so a looked through but it's so dark I couldn't see a thing. I have no idea if it contines for a few meters or a a few kilometers. On the same track alignment there is a short tunnel that starts just beond where the sunting neck of Prince Alfred Sidings ends. You can see the entrance heading from Central to Redfern if you look over towards the tennis courts in PA Park. I've walked through that too, which is how I found the one mentioned previously. I can't recall if I did that on the same day as the one I mentioned first. Maybe, maybe not. In any case, I'd love to know where that branch tunnel goes or was meant to go.

Hi David, it took me a day or two to respond as I was super interested in your message and the research began, what I found was the dive tunnel "stub tunnel" that you mentioned was part of the proposed southern suburbs line to Mascot that was commenced in the late 40s but was abandoned by the late 50s due to lack of funds. The platforms and tunnels near platform 10 were the first proposed version of the ESR which fell the same fate of lack of funds and were redesigned to the underground version platform 11/12 that we know today in the 70s. I will do a video of these as I find it very interesting. Thanks so much for your suggestions and watching, I hope you enjoy the channel.
      Barrie.

@@trainspottingwithbarrie Unreal but unless you work for the railway, how do you propose to get access to these places? Also, around 2005 there were bushfires all along the south coast around the Royal National Park (another abandoned - by the railway - line) area and with all the foliage gone, you could clearly see where the old formations were between Waterfall and Otford. Some of my colleagues walked the old line and I'd love to have joined them but I was working on the day. Anyway, you could now see the mouth of the old Otford tunnel just to the south of Otford Station which lead to what is now the roadway, either Lawrence Hargrave or Lady Wakehurst Drive. Looking at that, it's amazing that trains used to go up and down that hill and it's obvious why the route was changed. Perhaps you could explore that one of these days.

Hi David, I'm affiliated with the railways in a sense and usually pursue the correct avenues to gain access but not always successfully with the bureaucracy. Otford is definitely on the list, I just didn't want to do two tunnel videos back to back. I walked it in the 90s when the northern end was overgrown. Walking the deviation from waterfall sounds interesting.

Hi Class 38, yeah this was the first video with my new toy, I'm still not great at flying it so hopefully will improve with those micro adjustments. 90% of this video was filmed by drone, I'm super happy with how it came out. Otford next? I'm hoping people can suggest some great places. Thanks again.

This was excellent. Growing up in Wollongong and searching and walking around some of the old lines in the area, this is one I still need to do my self. There was an old rail line that went across the front of Mt Kembla. It started from near Windy Gully and came out on the Farmborough Rd side, where it met up with the Moss Vale- Unanderra line. It's now a walking track, and fire trail.
