Spending 2k on a pair of monitors is reasonable according to a lot of the people finding 2k for the heddphone2 expensive. I have heard it multiple times, and I am saving to buy ASAP. They are wonderful, not just for studio, but also for audiophile listening
Thanks again and keep up the good work !
Hello, I mix and master with MM500's straight out of my mac book pro which seems to drive them easily. I need a comparable pair of closed backs that could also help keep things portable. Great channel btw, any suggestions? Cheers from Vancouver!
People spend so much money on plugins, speakers and instruments. But they save money on headphones... I do not understand that. Headphones are very important tools in these "ITB only" days.
To put the sheer lunacy of $5000 headphones into perspective. Andrew Scheps, who needs no introduction, has done radio-release mixes using a pair of Sony MDR 7506 cans priced around $100. He said he changes them every 2 years because they start to wear out but still.... If they're good enough for him then........
Yes he did, I personally chatted with him about this, but Scheps has years of experience mixing and know what to listen for with the Sony's, and knows them very well... And again, he recently switched to Audeze headphones for obvious reasons.
They look cool. I see you have the new console one. I love mine. However im not sure i like the blurp sound effects in you video. It tricked me! I thought my Toilet was backing up. LOL Chris i even got up to look. LOL.. Be Safe Chris..
I also like my console one, planning on doing a video on it at some point. The blurp sound...LOL...Can you send me the timestamp where you hear that sound? Want to make sure which one you're refering to...Lol!
@@mixdownonline 1:58 and 2:00 Its where you say open back and over ear. LOL Dude its prob only me.. Keep in mind i have a clogged drain atm on my washing machine. So I get triggered and run the laundry room to lift the lid.. I so Sorry Chris to turn you great video into plumbing.. LOL dam it.... I have only been up a few hours and im already in trouble... LOL Be Safe My Friend..
$2000 Dollars.. Canadian or US? of course being a Scot Im way to miserly to pay that! They look incredible, but i'll have to stick with my open back NDH 30!
Yes, 2K USD, that's always unfortunate for us Canadians :( But honestly, like high end studio monitors, they are more suitable if you make an income out of mixing/mastering services to get a return on investment at this price range. You're definately ok with the NDH 30
I hate the reinforced midrange of the MM100. I must say that I can´t recommend this headphone. I prefer more neutral ones. Now I have LCD-X and finally very happy. it's definitely worth it.

An upload on headphone EQ'ing and calibration tips would be much appreciated Chris. 🧡
A headphone EQ video would be greatly appreciated! Also would love to see a head to head comparison between the MM-500 and these.
You got it!

How do you know when they’re wearing out
@@Harrysound Apparently the high end starts to deteriorate, or something similar. There's a video of him talking about it with another mixer/engineer.

ADI 2 DAC or Babyface pro + dt990 600ohm manufaktur would be more than enough 🤷♀
Never tried the dt990, but that looks like a nice combo!
