This device has done way more than the regular folds have ever done to convince me that this is the future

@@scottishguy924 There is nothing special about the tri-fold screen, I believe any brand can make a triple folding screen, what matters is the size and thickness.

As a current Huawei user (and I think this is so true of many Chinese phone manufacturers) they have such quick charging that your typical habits and concerns around battery tend to change. As an Iphone user I used to religiously charge overnight and that was for the day. As a Huawei user, I just charge as and when I feel like and rarely charge overnight... why? because it takes 15 minutes so who cares right? I imagine that would just be the case with this device.

and then your device is not supported in a year or two for battery replacement (this doesn't work for iphones)
@@mrofinUtortxoF I can't speak to that other than to comment a battery health test is at 99% after over one year and that Huawei have an active service for battery replacement 🤷♂️
@@mrofinUtortxoF Just because Apple can't figure out how to make a battery last long with fast charging doesn't mean the others can't. I have a Huawei Mate 20 Pro that launched in 2018 with 45w fast charging. I still use it today with its original battery and it lasts more than a day. That's 6 years! The Chinese battery tech is way ahead. It's why apple and Samsung are so scared of them.

Is it strange that a three-part foldable feels "less" gimmicky to me than a two-part foldable? It's just that the usual unfolded phones have an awkward size imo, too large for a phone, too small for a tablet, while this one the unfolded is a full tablet.
That's just how I always felt about the current folds too small as a tablet and too square. Watching netflix on my Z Fold 6 is no better than the normal phones. But then watching video on this Mate XT as a proper tablet, now we're talking!!!

I felt the SAME, the moment I saw it.
Other foldables with screens on the inside and outside, whereas this just has one big screen on one side that folds up... it certainly feels like a more cohesive/logical form factor than what we've gotten before.

Im 37. Havent been excited about a new phone in a long time. This is awesome. Cant wait for global release
this is actually what i've been waiting for since like first foldable AMOLED screens, and that was like ages ago. Finally someone figured it out. next step - is to combine a PC and smartphone in one, at least for some basic office things, like those poor cheap windows tablets back those days - maybe now it's actually time to shine. i know that it's mostly a software thing, but still.
hopefully Apple doesn't do it before others do.

Finally a foldable tablet. Hope to see a foldable portable monitor to pair with my laptop whenever I need a transportable work setup.
Huawei has the capacity developing much more advance chips but due to US sanctions, HW and SMIC don't have EUV machines making them. Given HW and SMIC much credit for such a short time and they are able producing 7nm chips. M70 is coming up and rumors say it will equip with 9100 chip which is 5nm. If that's real, then, congratulation to both HW and SMIC for such incredible achievement due to all the harsh circumstances.
Well, I don't believe Samsung is going to bring out a Trifold anytime soon. It's not that they don't want to; it's because they are not capable of doing it. After six generations of Z Folds, Samsung keeps putting a small battery inside a thick phone with a narrow screen, no built-in S Pen, and a very noticeable crease.
Not to mention, Samsung lacks quality control. Last year, I returned a Z Fold 5 because the screen was detaching. That's right, the screen was detaching, not the screen protector. It was very frustrating!
Honor, in my opinion, with only two generations of foldables, has delivered better work than Samsung has managed after more than six years of trying.
So your claim is that Honor or Huawei phones and foldables never break? How did you arrive at that conclusion?
By far it’s THE HOLY GRAIL of all smartphones or HYPER SMARTPHONES.
This is going to become a standard in 10 years;) ❤ a Bar Smartphone will be in ( ultra portable / tough category ) and folds will start from mid range prices ( with tri folds in lower high range ;)

The Mate XT. offers a foldable keyboard that can be put in a jacket pocket when folded up. It can be wirelessly connected to the Mate XT. However, it needs to be purchased separately for about 2,000 RMB.

Also, Huawei do offer a system called Huawei Hi-Car which is basically Android Auto, you can use it by purchasing a dongle for your car - it just imitates Apple Carplay for the car and instead uses the Huawei native system (that currently drives a squillion cars in China)
There is already a matching keyboard with a trackpad. The CEO showed that in the launch event.

I remember during the launch conferece on 11 sept, the boss showed that XT can be connected with a bluetooth foldable bluetooth keyboard which is thin and small and be put into your pocket easily. its name is like BOW FOLDABLE KEYBORAD, which embeded a touchable mouse on it..
They said they are coming with a foldable keyboard for the XT

As long as you use a screen protector, I don't see an issue with the exposed flexible OLED besides it not feeling as good as glass.
No it's wrong. I am using foldable phone more than 4-5 years. I already used samsung fold 2,3,4,5 and now I am use OnePlus open and vivo x fold 3 pro. Inner display can scratch and damage very easily. It can scratch easily with finger nails.

As someone who carries both a tablet and a phone with them a lot, I like the idea but the durability just isn't there yet.
It seems like one step forwards two steps back to have something convertible that you have to baby and carry in a protective bag... Any advantage in versatility and portability is offset by having to baby it a lot more.

Huawei can easily dominate against Apple and Samsung through out the years but sadly, it has no Google Services anymore.
Having no Google spyware is a good feature
it can have all gsm by installed Micro G app eadily. In South East market, Huawei phone will have GSM by it.
Many people believe Apple asked the US gov to do something about it. So ZTE, then Huawei were targeted for "security reasons".
It's logical to ban Huawei products and equipment, but banning them from receiving google support doesn't make sense at all. It's simply to cripple their potential.

Do they use glass on their screen or still plastic? I heard they have foldable glass already but I am not sure if they use the foldable glass on this phone or not.
This is the first "foldable device" that actually makes sense. It's still be a niche product though.
It is a cool idea but I do have questions about durability particularly long term foldable screens are still really fragile

The future has arrived this cutie is a marvel it's like an art object. As Eastern European I couldn't care less for Google services or what kind operating system is as long there's full function web browser a reasonable power cpu and pen support is essential .....as to doodle is to exist.

Thank you for detailed. I would thank you more if next video you talk more details about it's multitask feature, no one is talking about it. Remember that zfold officer 3 windows open simultaneously. Multitask feature is the most attractiveness one in foldable devices in my opinion.

The device has a 90Hz screen (not 120Hz). [This is for battery management.] Based on Chinese tests, the whole 3-screen experience can last about 5 hours plus with constant non-stop usage.

I got a noob question, is the front display glass and inner ones plastic? If it is then when it's unfolded is there a seam that's like we can feel where glass ends and plastic begins? Or is it a seamless transition??

You mentioned 16:9 videos being nearly the same size on a normal foldable. Well thats certainly true, but I find myself more and more using the zoom function built-into youtube. Its nice to fill the whole screen. Maybe you should try it more.

I flashed my mix fold 2 and I got android auto to work but I couldn't get Google pay to work. I use both so now I don't use my mix fold 2 anymore. Too bad cuz it's a nice folded phone but I need one that will do both android auto and Google pay

so you have to use a separate phone pouch to store the phone with its case on before putting it in your pocket.. at this point, it feels easier to just take a iPad mini with me...
Just the pouch is what I used with the mate XS 2 outer fold and no damage.

@@bentony7548 if you need to answer a call you just use the external display like the galaxy fold series. No bendable display should be exposed when not in use.
Did they place the plug on the bottom when stood in widescreen orientation without allowing 360 degree screen rotation SO THE PHONE INCONVENIENTLY STANDS ON THE PLUG.... like stuupd Google did with the pixel fold... Frustrated me because the phone should be able to stand in widescreen for video viewing with a simple slight lean .. nope frigggign plug on the bottom .. pissde as I write this .( Intentional typos due to cyber hall monitors)
