You guys are doing great, Catherine i hope you overcome the sea sickness it is not a nice feeling. James you need to get some fishing gear, there is some nice fish to catch. All the best guys, love the show.
Thanks! We’re even more clueless when it comes to fishing, I’d love to get some gear and try and teach the boys but we wouldn’t know where to start, let me know your suggestions Catherine.
Wow...what an adventure!! Loved that you all kept your cool as you navigated through the hurdles on sea and land! Very impressed with George's knot skills. How timely and kind for Christian to teach. We also really enjoyed hearing how you tackled through all the issues and also your feedback on those experiences. Great videos James and Catherine 👍
I hope you can find something to control your seasickness otherwise it will inevitably start to impede on your sailing dreams. I will be following in your wake this weekend albeit on a quicker journey from Les Sables to Gibraltar with only one stop.
Hi, Great channel !, I like how you are progressing/learning by just doing it, and do not seem phased by anything. well done, looking forward to seeing your travels progress.
You should try the scopolamine patches for your seasickness. You wear them for up to three days and seem to really help people. You don’t have to keep taking pills (which you then throw up).
Hey guys, you asked for a hello so, 'Hello'. Don't quite know where you'd be by now but I imagine you're in the Med and hopefully things are getting warmer.
Hi guys another great vlog but what a lot of confusion maybe you could send a message to Keith on sailing Zatara as they have sailed around the world and still going as they maybe able to give some advice stay safe and have and safe boating cheers Barry From Victoria Australia 🇦🇺
Hi Catherine it would probably be best if you can speak to some of your oceans cruiser friends someone who is into fishing. You don't need much as some people only use a hand reel with a lure which they tow behind the boat. I would suggest a sturdy rod, just easier. Should you catch a tuna or mahi mahi you need to watch some youtube videos on how to cut them up. Have a great day. Anton Hide
As I understand it if you have a French Visa, you can travel throughout Europe whilst you have the Visa, Once that has expired then you go on the Schengen zone clock . I took this from Google "As a general rule you may cross any Schengen border with visa issued by any Schengen country."
Spain has the best motion sickness medicin. Buy at any Pharmacia: Biodramime with cafeina, also sold as Sinfamar with cafeina. (Also available without cafeina, but you ll sleep al day) buy enough for the rest of your trip ;-)
You should just use one engine when on passage. You use much less fuel(also increase your range), you reduce your engine hours and therefore how after you need to do maintenance. Nearly all cat owners do this.
I would think your Schengen stay would start in France because it’s in the zone. But I don’t know a lot about it. *Ok, I read your comment to someone else. These countries really should get on the same page.
If they got an entry stamp when entering in France (or better said, when entering Shengen area) then it's all good. They will get an exit stamp when getting out through a Shengen border, in thi scase Gibraltar. There's no need for them to visit the customs in Spain or Portugal since these countries are in the Shengen area. Think of the countries of the Shengen area as the states in Australia.
Unfortunately it’s not so straight forward. We have a 1 yr French visa allowing us to travel throughout France and this time not to count towards our Schengen, therefore our Schengen started when we entered Spain. So glad we got the French visa so we could travel more in France and enjoy the beautiful country. Catherine
@@philippedesoyresyou are def right. That is the whole purpose of Schengen area. Once you are in, you can travel and cross "borders" as many as you want as long as it is within the 90 days.
@@OceanPeopleSailing A French visa only valid in France and not valid for the whole Shengen area? I didn't know something like this existed, seems against the Shengen treaty. Note that the European countries won't care much about your visa. It's not like the US or Australia where overstaying your visa will bring you a lot of problems. I know Vietnamese people who always overstay their visa and when they leave the customs officer just remind them that they stayed longer than allowed but wouldn't do anything to prevent then to get on their plane leaving Europe.
You've got a great filmer and a story teller. She gives us navi data, vision, audio.
Thanks 😊
So nice of you
Wow, you guys are doing so well on such a steep learning curve.
Thank you 🤗
Hello from Maine (USA)! You have such a sweet family! Really enjoying your journey. ;)

Gijón is a beautiful city! We had an exchange student from there, and went to visit a few years ago. Great intro to Spain.
What a nice surprise this city was. We loved it also.

Great video! Seeing the dolphins must have been so magical. The customs part is so interesting, what a debacle. Can’t wait for the next video!
Dolphins seem to make any day better🐬🐬

Tough passage, but Gijon was a nice place to land. Customs, such a pain! Looks like you got it worked out tho.
Hey yes it’s was, Thanks for watching! Catherine
Nice adventure. One tip, you should use external wireless little microphones for a better sound.
Greetings from Holland
Agree we had some that landed in the ocean. Hoping to replace soon. James

Thanks for the suggestion. We do have the zatara guys details as we got some advice from them before we set off.

Hey guys, it gets easier the sailing and the camer work.
Thanks so much for your encouragement, Catherine
Yes Spanish police guards are nice people have good experience with them Spain there are many nice people there 💕💕

Easy on the vegemite, mate 😁
Hi from NZ. Did your AIS issue get sorted? Was good of that boat to let you know.
Yes, thankfully we sorted it.

So confusing. Also trying to explain to officials without sounding like you’re telling them how to do their job is tricky too.
Ripper video👌
Increase vegemite consumption to decrease seasickness
🤣
😅
Hellow!!
Hello!
Doesn't Shengen start when you first arrive in EU (so 3 months will start when you first arrived in France ....🤔)
Sorry should have watched it all first.....

Rather scary you just walked into Spain ,without going through customs!
We sailed in. In the marinas they can check you in for customs. Only if you need a stamp do you need to visit the customs office.
