      Samantha Derrick - as a Brit, I have watched over the last thirty-odd years how some corrupt African governments have actively blocked desperately needed distribution of foreign aid to their own crisis-hit countries, while stockpiling food and various supplies, including medical, for their own ends. These corrupt politicians incite war and turn it to their advantage, while their own people are either massacred or starve to death from government imposed famine. It's horrendous how some African countries are abused by their own leaders. And all the rest of the world can do is watch, utterly helpless.

    As a white londoner in his early 20s, with an african girlfriend, and a massive marvel fan, after seeing Black Panther, I didn't feel like an outsider whilst being in a theatre with a lot of black people (naturally seeing as Black Panther is in it's own right, an extremely revolutionary film, for the reasons David so well pointed out in this interview), and having such a close connection with many people from the great continent of Africa, I felt included in the celebration. The fact that people from places that aren't as well off as places in the western world, I for one am very happy to see the rise of equality hit the big screen more than ever before :) Much love to David, much love to the entire Black Panther cast, (who of which, two very significant characters from the story (that I'm aware, there may be more)), come from the UK, for being such great ambassadors for the recognition of other people's cultures and backgrounds. May this continue, and to all those who are complaining that Black Panther has "too much of a black cast"... come back to me when you learn what 2+2 is because that is just as easy a question to answer as the question of "why does Black Panther have a predominantly black cast?"... that last point is a "jus' sayin" followed by a mic drop haha

    I feel the need to point out that Stephen Colbert is a staunch Christian. And that is awesome! He basically embodies every trait a Christian should embody. He's compassionate, patient, and genuinely seems to love everyone he comes across. As a not-a-Christian, I still want to live my life in the way Stephen Colbert lives his.
    With David Oyelowo, Darwin explained, in detail, how greatness can come from anything. To say Nigeria is a Sh*thole Country, have you seen the United States? Greatness can come from anywhere. We have to always believe that. We shouldn't be shitting on other countries. We should look deep and pull everyone out.

    I can understand why Wakanda needed cloaking and walls to survive. Only one African country (Ethiopia) escaped colonization by the West and up till today it is still suffering from the setback of the wars they had to fight to keep their independence.

    • @Gossiptgirl
      @Gossiptgirl 6 років тому +24

      NetMage11 Look up colonialism, it's not scape-goating when it's the truth and on-going (neo-colonialism). Western countries built up their wealth through the theft of resources, labour, and land from third world countries, that's a fact. This is recent history. And it's on-going through unfair trade agreements, IMF deals, many African countries STILL pay taxes to France until today as punishment for independence which cripples their economies and prevents them from progressing. Colonialism has shaped the global order and continues to affect the relationships between different countries.
