  • * I'd like to clarify when I said "the average fashion designer doesn't sew." Of course, most designers sew/know how to sew. Generally, sewing isn't something the average fashion designer does as part of their day-to-day job duties since they have sample makers. *
    In this video, we will look through my collection of sewing books. I will also share my progress on the Vogue 7975 jacket.

    Recently found your channel. Binge watching today. I totally agree..Books are knowledge. Knowledge is power. You can never have to many books! or fabric! or patterns! or buttons! or zippers! or 😉 Just when I had gotten my book list whittled down, I filled it back up with several of your recommendations.
    I have the first three books that Gertie put out. I have not sewn from them but do love to read them!
    Thanks For Sharing

    I’m looking for a serger, particularly beginner friendly, what one do you have? And I agree 100% I am a Craftsy/Blueprint junkie lol.

    • @SewcalSewcialite
      @SewcalSewcialite  5 років тому +1

      Craftsy/Bluprint is really great! I've learned quote a bit. Gotta love the Internet. If you want a beginner serger that is inexpensive then the brother 1034D is great! That is what I am currently using until I have enough money to upgrade to a BabyLock (probably, or a Janome). This Brother machine is also highly recommended among all of my sewing groups. If you don't care about money than a self-threading machine would be great! Most people that have a BabyLock adore their machine.

      Sewcal Sewcialite oh yes my regular sewing machine is a Babylock Aria and I love her!!! I just checked my dealer and they have several sergers that were used in their classrooms but come with warranty and have been certified in good working order. The ones they have are the Eclipse DX. I’m honestly considering the Brother 1034D though for the price point and good reviews and will upgrade later if I feel I need to.

      It's not a bad idea to get the Brother to see how you like serging. The dealer's used machine is also a great choice, too! I will have to check into something like that myself.
