Apart from your excellent recommendations mine are Pattern Magic books 1, 2 and 3. They are strangely interesting and quirkly Japanese but, these are creative techniques well explained. I often research Origami books as an inspiration for designing in addition to folding the fabric for unique effects.
Oh those Pattern Magic books are amazing, I'm especially fascinated by the knit one. I'm borrowing them from the library regularly, but have considered investing them
I’m just amazed that you have these books in your library. You must have a wonderful book service. We have nothing of anything useful, if at all to borrow. Not even as reference either. I’m impressed that there is such a valuable resource and wonder if this selection applies to others areas of interest?

I also ordered 5th edition pattern making Fashion Design, based on a different recommendation I saw. I also have both Fit For Real People books (one is for pants), pattern cutting made easy, i was gifted Fitting & Pattern Alterations by Elizabeth Liechty. I have a couple others but I'm pretty set for now.
Yay, that Couture book is sooo good, I love how clear the instructions are, which makes it less intimidating. Looks like you have a good stash of books, I will check out the Liechty book, have not heard about her before!
Thanks for the reviews on these books. I just bought Suzy Furrer’s teaching book , Building Patterns which closely follows her Craftsy classes. Easy to refer to rather than finding the spot in the videos and well worth the price and currency exchange from American to Canadian dollars. Don’t buy it on Amazon as it is 8 times the price than her own web site, apparel arts. Highly recommend it if you want to use your blocks to design your own patterns. I’m interested in buying Kennth D King’s blood on fitting, next. I find him very visual and easy to follow.
I have never heard of Suzy Furrar, and wow her book looks very thorough. I assume the price reflects that this is meant as a student textbook? The import costs to Europe is through the roof now, but this book looks very tempting!
Last Stitch I think it is $65 American and ended up being $98 Canadian with 5% tax on books. My friend had it shipped to the border and picked it up there. Suzy Furrer’s has Craftsy classes on all the bodice blocks and then variations of pattern drafting. She is such an excellent teacher, thorough and never misses a word. She is gracious and kind in answering all questions. I just didn’t want you to search for it on Amazon as only used copies are there and someone has Asked an absurd price of hundreds of dollars, when she sells it for a reasonable price through her web site.
I use Patternmaking for Fashion Design for making my slopers and woven patterns. I also like Vogue Sewing book, revised & updated, for tips and tricks n order of operations, when and why to use various techniques, etc.... Thanks for sharing your favorites - I’ll have to check them out!
I appreciate you sharing your favorite sewing books. Looking forward to checking them out. My favorite fitting book is The Complete Photo Guide to Perfect Fitting by Sarah Veblen. Her horizontal balance line approach to fitting made such an improvement in my garment projects! Another fitting instructor and pattern maker I follow is Alexandra Morgan. She has online and in person classes but I don’t think she’s published a book yet. I finally made a great fitting sleeve due to her online tutorials. I just bought a combo serger coverstitch machine so I’m looking forward to your new book as well!
I have browsed this book and am very tempted to get that one as a companion to the Fit for real people book, as it seem to be as good. I will check out Alexandra Morgan too, thank you for the tip!
I do not learn from rwading. I learn from seeing and hands on. Books make me sleepy lol. I'd rather have someone teach me. Besides I get fantastic lessons from you!

The Lynda Maynard books looks great but I can't seem to find a retailer who sells it for under $100. Any suggestions? I am in Australia. Book Depository doesn't have it any longer.
Hi Johanna Can you please give your opinion if you can sew knits successfully with never owning a serger? I have an old Bernina 930, and it does have a "knit" stitch. I would prefer not to have to buy a serger - I french seam and bind my woven seams
Hi love your tutorials I have learnt so much from you. When looking up your books I have found 2 one white and blue cover and one with an orange and blue cover please could you tell me what the difference between the 2 books are.
If you want more views you need to improve your audio. I already have to try and understand your accent and that's ok I dont think that's hard but your audio is soft.
