- Hi lovely people!
welcome back to the CocoWawa Crafts' channel 😃 Today I'm reviewing my favourite pattern cutting and drafting books, from beginners to more advanced 😃 You can find all the links below. Some of the books are more expensive than what I remembered, but please check on both Amazon, Ebay and charity shops and similar for the best price.
Hope you like it, don't forget to comment, give me some thumbs up if you do and subscribe!

Great review ... very informative!
You were very lucky to get the Hillary Campbell book for £5... I’ve just checked EBay cheapest I could find was £90! ...I’ll keep checking though xxx
This video was really good and informative, I’m starting the womenswear fashion design course at LCF this September so I need to buy some pattern cutting books and this video was very helpful!
I am glad it was useful! Good luck at the course :)
Ana you are so good at explaining things. Thank you so much ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🙏
Thanks!!
Nice video!! I suggest Pattern Making Tutorial Video next please!!
Inches and metric is easy to over come, with combination measuring tapes and rulers. The numbers are different but the measurements are the same.
Superb video thanks. Happy New Year !
That was fabulous! Thankyou so much! 😘👏🏼
Glad it is helpful!
Thanks i really loved
Thank you for sharing your sewing books today. I love your UA-cam show, keep up the good work.
Thanks!
You're adorable. Keep up the good work.
Thank you.
Glad you're back. I missed you!
Francine Flaks thanks Francine 😊
wowww this was a really good book review. thank you soooo much for the flip through previews. i've reserved some of the books from my public library!!! thank goodness they have the first book because they only have 1 copy available throughout the whole nation's public library (we're a small country so we can reserve it at a small fee and we can arrange for book collection at our nearest neighbourhood library ahha) and i almost thought the price of the book was fake and a joke. :O thank you again. :)
I am so glad it helped!!
Thank You for the book review!
My pleasure!
Thanks for your review. I hope will help us.
I am glad it was useful :)
Thank you I really enjoyed this video
The first book you show and the link to it.......oh my goodness the price. Really expensive. So you were lucky....really lucky to get it for that price😔
You are right!!!! Wow!!!! I found it of course muuuuuuuch cheaper online. Sorry :( Keep checking. Hope you can find it!
Same☹️
Thank you, I really enjoyed this I now no what book to buy ,Thank you again.
Glad it was helpful :)
Where do we buy is the problem
Great review.
Thanks!
Damn that first book is super expensive
I didn't pay that amount. They have changed it along the time.
Thank you for the great info. I’m just an amateur but thought I’d look up some of the books on amazon in USA. 🙀the Hilary Campbell book was listed for over $1,000! Just thought you would like to know how valuable your book is😁. Just for fun😁
thanks Jenny! Lots of people have already told me. It is incredible than when I got it years ago it was so cheap!
Thank you for sharing this review of these pattern books. I would also love to publish my own sewing patterns. I have also studied various garment construction methods and the more i learn the more I get also confused on what pattern construction ways I shall best use, or what measurements, is there right or wrong way? I would love to know about your sewing pattern development journey. What garment construction methods you like to use and how do you make them in pdf? Thank you! :)
Sorry! But I had to do a very deep research for that and I went to the London College of Fashion.
Thank you so much for this review, it’s really helpful! Do you have any books that you don’t recommend?
Hi! Not really.... I think these are all quite good and don't remember any book I disliked particularly...
❤ ur review 😊
Thanks!
can you suggest any book about ready to wear pattern drafting 😊
Hi! I think a few of these would help you with that for sure!
omg you are just so cute lol
Hello, this is my first time here. Thanks for these great reviews. Im wondering, is there any book out there with already made real size pattern for men? Basics ones I could use as a base. Thanks a lot =)
Hi! Sorry, don't know for men :( But there is a Winnifred Aldrich one for men that might be good!
@@CocoWawaCrafts lovely! Thanks for that =)
?Does the "Designing Patterns: a fresh approach to pattern cutting" book talk about ease?
?When you studied fashion did you have to make any garments from you a drawn block?
Before I saw your video I purchased "How to Use, Adapt, and Design Sewing Patterns" by Lee Hollahan. Do you have an opinion about this book?
I like the spiral binding on the "Pattern Making with Stretch Knit Fabrics". I think this is always a plus.
Hi! Yes, it talks about ease, although not explaining much. I learned how to create my own blocks and from there how to adapt them to create a new design. I don't know that book, is it good?
Thankyouu for this video.. i wonder the hilary book, it'so hard to find it. And if any, it's soo expensive tho :/ meh
I know it is, sorry :( Mine was second hand from Ebay
@@CocoWawaCrafts you're so lucky :)) hope i still can learn from winifred and helen book 😊
I just searched far and wide for it but it’s at least 200 pounds which I’m not willing to pay for a book. :(
Hi @@sonne1305 yah well mostly sewing video on youtube recommends this book and I wonder why the publisher didnt make any copies these days :(
@@sonne1305 Sorry Sonja. When I bought it years ago, I was lucky enough to find it on Ebay, used for of course much less money. It seems that now it is impossible to find.
Hi, I really like it.
But where can I buy it?
I'm starting in SA.
Which one?
Hello! thanks for the valuable advice! Can you tell me a specific book to design a jeans pattern?
Hi! I think that the Patternmaking for Fashion Design has some good designs for jeans!
Please how can I get this book please
Where can I get this book,,, I really like it
which one?
I love your video! Could you please help me? What is the book that you use for your basic patterns? I don't know what method is the best. I have the book pattern by Dennic, pattern cutting by Winifred and also Patternmakingby Helen, but I don't what method I have to use for making my basic bodice patterns
I think Winifred is the best. I learn pattern cutting at the London College of Fashion and they used lots of her methods.
@@CocoWawaCrafts Even if that method is not working for plus size?
@@monicarodriguez462 Are you looking to draft a block for plus sizes? I usually draft a block for UK size 10. I am working with a pattern drafting company to create a different block for plus sizes. Maybe you can check Cashmerette patterns as they maybe have more information about plus size blocks.
thank you,, me lcf photography 2005
The first book looks amazing but it's so expensive it's 255$
It was not when I bought it years ago
Any book by Margaret millar?
Oh! I don't know her. Is she good?
Holaaa, alguna recomendación de algún libro como estos en español?? Gracias

How can we get Winifred Aldrich book in Nigeria?
I am sorry, I have no idea :(
cutting pattern for childrens wear has errors and new editions do not correct the errors also no errata was issued so sorry be aware ....These books are expensive and the author should care to at least publish online errata.

Nothing for the men?
Sorry, not my area of expertise.
CocoWawa Crafts Winifred Aldrich does menswear, metric pattern cutting for men as does the portfolio for men’s wear, although it’s not my area of expertise, both books for women are awesome Dennis Chuman.
