    You don’t actually need to drill out the knockouts on the sides of the wiska boxes, they are designed so that they just pop out automatically when you screw in your gland

    Hi Just concerned and please correct me that all outside power connections sockets including lighting has to be installed by Qualified electrician and cannot be done by DIY user as would be the case adding a power socket inside? Bit confused if this correct that you are showing DIY users how to do it, correctly of cause and advising user they can do it as stated in accordance to BS 7671 wiring regulations. ?

      Outside lights are not notifiable works, as long as it is just an addition to an existing circuit. My videos are purely for entertainment purposes, not instructional. Thanks for watching!

      You are correct. Notifiable or not, mains electricity going to an outside zone MUST be done by a qualified electrician and MUST be RCD protected.

    The breaker also only isolates the live but the mk spurs are DP

    You made reference to isolating the lighting at the spur only disconnecting the line conductor as it isn't double pole so you went to turn off the MCB at the board. At which point did you disconnect the neutral conductor in the circuit by turning off the MCB?

      @TheDiligentDIYer1759  Рік тому

      MCBs only switch the live, even when off the neutral is still connected….

    What are you threading on the end of the wire at 14:45? Is that to stop the thin wires from fraying and help the wago grip it?

      It’s a steel ferrule that gets crimped onto the stranded core. Yep it gives you a much better connection, not totally necessary just to go into a wago though. Where they are essential is screw terminals, as the screw can break a lot of the thin wires and just generally give a bad connection. Thanks for watching!

    Great video mate.I've got the same job to ,
    just a question about the cable ,does it not need any protection from the elements

      Thank you! As long as it is rated for exterior, you’ll be fine. If you’re buying from screwfix, it will say in the description.

    Great video - two questions if I may. 1) How did you know that the string line would be level? Or were you just more concerned about the wire being on a straight run. 2) you didnt install a transfer - presumably the lights you installed are 240v?

    • @TheDiligentDIYer1759
      @TheDiligentDIYer1759  Рік тому

      Thank you! The string line was more to make sure the cable was straight, I’d measured the height of the lights at each end already, so should be level. Yep you’re right, the lights are 240v, so no transformer required. Thanks for watching!

    I was critical at first but, if you are going to do your own domestic minor electrical work, you could learn a lot from this guy.
