    You're amazing DIYD!!! I JUST RECEIVED my brand new outdoor light to replace the mess that has been there since I bought the house. I have NO IDEA how to install past wingin' it (do know to turn the breaker off...lol) and here you are! I appreciate you Dad! On the bracket included with this particular light, has a green screw for the ground, but I dont remember that screw being used for the ground wire either from the house or the light itself, so why is it there??

    Hello... Great video... What if the light I bought doesn't have ground wire to hook to the grounding bar? The lights case is plastic... The light will not go on even thought the black and white wires are connected properly? The old light had the three wires.

  • @lambro3001
    @lambro3001 4 роки тому +6

    Fyi you don't have to pre twist the wires together before using the twist cap. In most cases it's better if you don't and just let the cap do the twisting in order to make a tight connection.

    Hi I had a question, I have an outside light but it’s a manual switch beside the door inside the house. So it’s useless when we want to get into the house and can’t see the keyhole clearly. Is it the same method to replace it with a motion sensor light?

    • @DoItYourselfDad
      @DoItYourselfDad  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, same method. You would need to leave the switch in the on position or remove the switch abs hard-wire it.

    So, I installed a flood light motion sensor camera light where a previous light fixture was at outside the garage. Everything is working fine but when I turn off the front porch light, turns out it is also powering the light fixture side. The switch is a 2wave dim switch and right next to it is a normal light switch (up down) for the entrance hallway. Anyway of having the line for the motion light having constant power? Maybe wiring the wires to the regular light switch for a constant hot? Or would it need to be rewired to a seperate power supplier outlet? PLEASE HELP!!!! 😭😭

    I had an electrician come out yesterday to install two of these for my front and back yard. He used what looks like to me as cords and then hooked them up to the lights leaving the cords exposed on the outside. He charged me six hundred for labor and material. At this point I'm beginning to think that he overcharged me for the work that he did. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Here's the problem. I took out the bulb from the socket, came out very easy, and I see that the socket has no threads, but the bulb is threaded. I can't put back the bulb in place, and don't know what was holding the bulb in the socket before? The bulb is big, I assume its halogen, and it was working fine before I removed it from the socket. I can't screw back the bulb because the socket has no threads (?)

    You completely forgot to mention that as a safety precaution, you first need to dawn your full HAZMAT body suit and respirator to protect you from the massive amount of potential radon which may be emitted as the original light cover plate is removed. Additionally, a third arm cam be obtained by radical personal surgery in order to hold the light as you attach the wires. Not that any of this is actually a requirement, but if you believe in safety first, then it is certainly something to consider before attacking this DIY task. Just joking, but nice video to watch. Wish i could find such lights in the same color as my soffit/eaves to replace my original ones with. Thanks for posting.
