So grateful for the time and effort you put into these setup videos! Found your channel this past February, when I picked up the z8. I'm primarily a wedding and portrait photographer, which I use to support my birding/wildlife photography addiction. :) Your thorough explanation has helped me understand how to use the customizable features on these advanced mirrorless machines. Never tired of learning and can't wait to put these user settings to the test. Thank you!
Thank You so much for the time and effort that you put into this and other videos. Having just purchased the Z6 III this is most informative video that I have found explaining what the setting actually mean and how to customise them. Thank You again
Great review, FYI, for the Pre-Release Capture options, the Post Release burst setting is not the amount of time it continues to shoot after releasing the shutter, it is the length of the burst recorded while the shutter release button is pressed all the way down.
This is great and so helpful thank you!! I am using my camera in the studio and finding that my viewfinder white balance and exposure isn't matching raw files in Lightroom. I set the profile in camera to neutral and I know I can bring brightness down on my screen, but I'm not sure how to get the colors more true?
Thanks for all this information on settings. I am seriously thinking about buying niko n Z63 after using a niko n D7200 for years. Can you recommend a good portrait lens for this camera. I have many lenses for my D7200 but of course they are crop size so probably have to sell them. Thanks
@@geraldinebryce594 I still love the 105 1.4 AFS on the FTZ adapter. The 85 1.8 S is great and the 85 1.2 and plena lenses are out of control, but big and expensive. You'll find videos I did on those if you search my channel for them. The 85 1.2 video from Cuba also showcases the 85 1.8 and 105 1.4.
Thank you for this post. Even for a "seasoned" pro as myself, I found this to be a great review and I learned a few things as well! One Q - on this video and the U1-U3 video you refer to 30fps. I'm pretty sure max is 20fps in raw electronic shutter (14fps in RAW mechanical). I raise this not to nit pick, but to question myself - is there some way to get 30fps raw?
Thank you for this very much. I have a question - it seems the airplane mode should be "on" if you want to save power - correct? Just like on our phones?
Thank you so much. New to the Z6iii. When I set 3D to Fn 1 it seems that I have toehold the F1 button or the 3D reverts to the previous. I thought maybe this was a toggle without having to hold it. Does sound right?
@@PixelGuy22 the way we set it up is a hybrid handoff , which means you hand off the focus subject you've picked up in wide area to 3D so long as you press and hold the function button.. releasing the function button put you back in acquisition mode using wide area with the back button for erratic moving subjects they are much easier to pick up in wide area butt 3D tracks them frame wide
Just a few questions…before setting up the Photo Shooting Menu, is it necessary to set the top mode dial or those settings apply to any of the dial settings except for Video Shooting? Also I’m uncleared how the saved settings/U1-U2-U3 works… if you make for example 15 settings in the menu and save them to U1, what happens if you want U2 to only used default settings, must you change those 15 settings back before saving those settings to U2? Finally if I wanted U1 to be aperture priority in addition to those 15 settings, do I turn the top dial to “A” before making those settings?
@@HudsonHenryPhoto two follow up questions…for me U1 has all changes to settings similar to yours plus I added back button focusing, etc using Manual Mode; U2 has same changes except with shutter focus/snap and auto focus with Auto Mode; U3 is for video so I first saved same basic settings and then added focusing settings for video. If I want to change mode in U1 to A Mode what do I need to do? Finally before I saved settings for video I forgot to flip switch from stills to video, so now after going to U3 each time I need to flip the switch…again can I edit saved settings for U3 so I don’t need to flip switch (or should I delete everything and start over?)
@@elliotresnick5433 sadly to change mode... You have to start over in the mode your want to change too. Any other setting is easy in the user mode, but there's no way to change mode without leaving it. Dumb
@@HudsonHenryPhoto ok I started over, and all seems fine now. Only issue is where U3 was saved after flipping the stills/video switch into video, the camera doesn’t seem to go into video mode by simply turning the top dial to U3 unless I still flip the switch to video. Am I doing something wrong?

@@mittenphotog as I say in this video, HLG HDR capture is not advised. It's for a monitor technology that's far too unsettled at this time. Flip it back to SDR instead of HLG, then you'll get your lower iso settings back too.
Uhhhhh? what version of Lightroom are you working with? I converted zero raw files when reviwing that camera months ago. Lightroom opened all the .nef files natively directly out of camera. I'm not sure what is happening for you, but it's certainly not an issue for me or any of the photographers I work with.

That was THE most informative and helpful guide for the Z6lll I have found on UA-cam. Your time and effort to compile this is much appreciated.
Greatly appreciated!
As usual, a great video. I really appreciate the effort you put forth to do these and I want you to know I appreciate all of it. THANKS!!
Thanks so much for helping me set up this amazing camera.
Henry, Thank you very much for an excellent Nikon 6III setup video...
My pleasure! First name is Hudson, but no big deal.
Super valuable video. Thanks for taking the time to make this!
Thank you so much! I had sorted out most settings but your video alerted me to several other key points that were good to know and adjust.

It doesn't seem to eat too much power, but it can be connecting to your phone an geotagging if you set Snapbridge up. Sometimes I don't want that.
