I do this exact serve and here are a few more tips that helped me. 1. Like he said hit the ball low, but how low is key. You want the tip of your rack to be no more than an inch from to top of the table during the contact with the ball. 2. Hit the ball flat at a 90 degree angle and push through the ball. If your looking from the side view during the stroke aim for making a “L” shape with your rack and table. 3. For contact with the ball aim for the center and tip of your rack. About an inch up from the tip of the rack works great for me. 4. After contact you can brush up a bit for additional topspin. Your rack will end in a more open position at the end of the stroke. Or you can keep a flat stroke which will produce a flat nospin ball. Hope this helps someone.
Thanks for the tip , I will try it tonight at my practice session , hope the get the hang of it and fool a couple of players with that serve. Great video as always Tom , I love how Paul is playing and the power he can output out of those shots is really amazing. Keep up the good work.
Especially if you serve usually heavy in the backhand with standard back/side spin before, this is one of my favorite serves against inside out top spin players. Do this down the line in their forehand twice a a set and you will and get direct points or great balls to attack.
Tom, it's great to see the long, fast serve can be effective at all levels. Great video. How does Paul hit such rockets? I know he has perfect timing, but he's not very big and doesn't have a big backswing. I guess that's why he's world class. Craig also kills the long one. Is Paul putting topspin on most of his fastballs?
Timing, weight transfer, footwork, loose flowing motion and a life time of practising his skills. Yes there are topspin on his attacks. I would call them "topspin-drives". So he has enough spin to get up over the net and back down again, but he drives the ball as well adding extra speed and power.
Hi Tom Sunil Bhandari from India I've been seeing your videos and using them for my grandkids . Is there any drill or excercise to make them ready for the next shot . My granddaughter especially is not able to play after 3-4 shots in match play . In practice, her rallying is reasonably good . She seems to hold on to her shot position for too long , and then reacts very late for the next play . Thanks
YES! I have a video about this topic coming up in September. She needs to watch opponent after she has played each shot and expect every ball to be returned. Then she will find it easier to rally for longer.
Yes, me too! It's odd, as I improve I play stronger players who mostly serve short. I have less problems with these. If they served long and fast at me, they would destroy me! Ha!
@@TIEWCINDY Some players will use a bigger backswing when serving long and fast, so you may see it coming if you very closely watch the backswing. Other players are better at disguising, and this does make it hard. My best advise is to be ready for the long serve. It's much easier to expect the serve long and then adjust if serve is actually short, compared to expecting the serve short and having to adjust if the serve is long.

I love this channel. Great content and right at my level! I'm always excited to go back to play with a new tool in my arsenal.
This is great. I will try it today. Thank you for sharing.

very fast bat helps too
Another great movie !! 😁 Thanks Paul and Tom !!!
My league is tomorrow, can't wait to try this out!
Great channel ... Thank you guys !!
Very good tutorials
Good service Paul!
I used this serve and it was great. My opponent made a predictable return and I did a strong 3rd ball.
But I still beat you🤨
Who are you?
So cool and it worked 😊
I did it yesterday! but with more topspin.
Good joke
@@norwit1162 Actually not. Fast long serve vith some topspin is even more effective, though more difficult to execute.
@@georgik898 But he do fast long serve with some topspin
Great vid, thxs again!!

Hi Tom, I wanted to ask when a new video is gonna be added to the "Unusual Strokes with Craig Bryant"-Playlist.
I hope to film some more with Craig over the summer and will upload some more to this playlist.
Thank You.
Can you doit with a target? I can
Which rakat do you have?
Paul uses Tibhar Evolution MX-P Rubbers on a Tibhar Drinkhall Power Spin Carbon blade.
Notice is racket tip really does not point straight down when he actually hits ball. It actually goes to right a bit and almost horizontal at finish

Most importantly the bat contact point which is not covered here.
Now make a video on how to counter this serve 😂😂😂😂
kick with the bottom
Long fast serve is my weakness if anyone uses this serve, oh boy....

Hi-5 :) btw fan from Singapore
But are there any ways to read the fast and long serve? Cause it's hard to predict when my opponent is gonna do it

Ok
I made it by myself. I used woodprix scripts for that.
I'm a little late
It's a fault serve you can't tach the table and your hand is up the table. I don't understand that
No spin
Thank you.
