I build Boxes and I agree MDF is the best and most dense of all the wood.. High density makes it perfect for subwoofer enclosures.. It's Easy to work with to if you take your time.. After painting I seal it with a couple heavy coats of Minwax Fast Drying Polyurethane.. NO water getting past that.. Keep up the good work!!! 🔈🔉🔊
I use Selex ply ac at home depot it’s sanded on both sides and nice for paint or stain but is about 60$ for .68 but it’s actually closer to 3/4 . I double all my walks so it’s 1:16th under 1 1/2 inches
I really want to jump in this field… I’m a master fiberglass laminator. Not to many businesses in my city that customize cars, so I’m really trying to be that guy.. Any pointers?
Personal preference and opinion as a high end client carpenter MDF wood-Ryobi cordless tools-titebond glue-18 gauge bradnails-body filler-any router/bits you can afford-pretty much any paint-i don’t use screws anymore, haven’t had any problems with anything falling apart. Epoxy Resin for wet/damp locations. (For 1 sub or 10 subs. You can’t beat it MDF’s strength…)
I believe MDF is way better than birch. Yes, mdf is a touch on the heavy side but the sound resonance is out of this world compared to birch or other dead woods.

I like using mdf, just so much easier to shape and make it look custom. If you take the time and seal it inside and out.
