Fishing in Myrtle Grove, found crazy amounts of fish!

    what draws you to a particular area when scouting out new spots like this one...

      I like areas with a lot of aquatic grass, I try to find them by looking for dark looking ponds on aerial images. If I’m in an area with out as much grass like around Barataria bay, then I’ll try and find areas with lot of broken marsh. The more little pockets, the better!

    is that off of bayou francis? is the construction messing things up?

      Yeah it’s the new pipeline that they are building for the lng plant. There is definitely some dirtier water in the area as I got closer to the construction but I can’t say it’s messing everything up since I was still able to find a bunch of redfish in the area.

    Was that last saturday. I was out about 20 miles south of you catchin trouts. Storms caught me at 1030.

      This one was last Friday! Seems like weather hasn’t been shifting around too much lately

    Looking to take my kiddos to hook into a red fish , can you send any spots to try. I'm familiar with myrtle grove Canal. Thanks

      With kids, I would try fishing the Lee side of lake five or cuts along bayou Wilkerson. Try using a Gulp shrimp tipped with dead shrimp and you should have them on some reds! I typically like to fish the interior ponds but I’ve found that is more difficult with kids/inexperienced anglers.
