I am going to be a sophomore and here are some tips for freshman. 1. Upper class men are not that bad. Try to make friends in all grades by doing sports and clubs. 2. I am going to be a junior this upcoming year and one of my biggest tips for freshman would be to not be loud and crazy in the halls on the way to class, and to please walk on the correct side of the hallway. At my school, most of the upperclassman think that all freshman are annoying and it makes things worse when they are proved right by seeing freshman running down the hall acting like they're at recess. Prove the upperclassman wrong, and don't do those things. Best of luck to everyone! :)

I just graduated this last year, and one of the tips I didn't see mentioned but I figured I'd put it out there, is, try and attend every football game, pep rally, dance, and school activity because trust me I didn't go to anything in the first two years of high school and I soooo regret not experiencing those things because those will be the memories you cherish forever!
I recommend Grammarly and Hemmingway Editor (free versions) for any paper. Grammarly checks punctuation and spelling. Hemmingway editor is amazing for analyzing your points and being clear/concise. Love you Keegan!

Tip: Dont act hard and try to fight or start up useless shit with the older years. Chances are that they will wreck you. Keep yourself low key and don't start beef.

Another tip, always mark important dates and assignments on your phone calendar. You will have a lot of classes and activities and you may not have time to remember them all! It's also great to log your week on a Sunday in your agenda then you feel more organized for the week to come. I always did this in high school and I recently graduated! PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS!!!! Don't be rude to teachers if you're the one who is on their phone the whole time not paying attention and then being mad about failing. Going off of that, don't be on your phone in class. Try being in the moment and try learning something in class no matter how boring that class may be. Also, don't be that annoying kid who makes a big deal out of the littlest things.

A tip I have that sort of goes along with the friendship one is to be friendly and talk to everybody in your class during the first few days. You might see some people that look like your standard popular jocks or whatever, but literally everyone wants to make more friends. They'll be happy you approached them and you'll most likely be acquaintances at least. I didn't do this, and I noticed a sort of comradeship between most of the people in my grade and I was sort of on the outside; now I talk to others a lot more but it's better to do so from the beginning. Anyway, i hope that made sense xD
first day of school essentials: a folder, pen/pencil, a re useable bottle with your choice drink, and MANY SNACKS. The first day feels sUPER long, especially when all teachers do are talk about rules/expectations and hand out syllabi. if you bring food you can't fall asleep snacking 🤗🤗
My high school is kind of different. Like a lot of the things you said are true! But the hw, nope. Freshman year, I did get a good amount of hw. Just wanted to put that out there. Yeah you might get a lot of hw, but don't stress. Just try hard and it will be a breeze. Believe me, I'm now a sophomore and I was freaked about my freshman year too. High school in general. After about 2 weeks, you get the hang of things. Believe me it's not that hard. Just keep your head up :)
Oh my gosh!! This video helped sooo much! I already knew to do volunteer work and get involved in sports and clubs and tutor etc. and take AP classes but I didn't know if I should do it early on so thank you!!!! I really want to get into UCLA and it's the #2 highest ranked public college in the US and u have to have like a 28-31ish ACT score and I got a 19 or 20 in 7th grade (last year). I'm a sophomore but I'm just watching this because I love your videos so much😂.(I had a class online to help me w/ getting a class done in the future for medical school. That was my highest grade😂). I just keep adding to this but I have no friends anyways so it's ok😂✌️we all make it! I barely had homework and if I did, my school at he end of the day has something called PAWS. Last year it was an hour and this year it's 2 hours. So we'll have plenty of time to finish our homework!
I start my junior year on the 22nd. One more tip, don't overload yourself. Remember you are just one person. Take honors and AP classes and participate in clubs and sports, but don't take on too much. Evaluate the workload from your classes, then decide which clubs you join and how many clubs and sports you should do. For example, I've taken honors classes the past two years of high school, and I play soccer. Luckily, soccer at my school is a spring sport which is the time of year that the workload lessens. Overloading yourself sets you up for stress. All of this ties in with time management.
High school pretty much sucks. People talk so much shit. Ignore it bc babygirl ur so much better. DO NOT SLACK off in freshman year. Ur grades r important. Not drugs. Not boys. Not alcohol. Dont take what guys put you thru. Do take ap and honors. Try new things. Set goals
I'm a senior this year and a tip of mine is if you don't want to deal with drama, just ignore it. Maybe be there for advice if a friend has it or something, but it's not worth getting into if you can help it. There are so many people who claim they don't care what others think, but as soon as someone makes one bad comment, you see them on the ground fighting surrounded by other teenagers with their phones. So if you generally do not care, don't react. Also if you're trying to talk to your friends or find a class, please move to the side of the hallway. It's quite frustrating when you're trying to go to a class on the other side of the school and the halls are already crowded enough and there are a group of people standing still IN THE MIDDLE of the hall pointing and chatting. If you can help it, move to the side.
I'm a sophomore in high school this year and this is a tip that's helped me so much! Tip: get to know your school counselor Honestly school has become much easier for me when since I've become close with and known my school counselor. It's much easier for me to know your counselor so you can ask questions, ask about school requirements or schedule help, or just needing someone to talk to! :)

AP and honors classes "raise" your GPA, but most colleges when you apply will ask for your unweighted GPA, so just keep that in mind when your thinking "oh its cool, I only need a b." Not that a b is a bad grade, but just remember that your high school GPA may show it as an A, but colleges will still see it as a B

I'm going to be a senior in high school and I wish I had known how hard it is to bring up your GPA. I hit a bad rough patch and now it's hard to pick myself back up. Don't let your GPA fall, study and keep up with your homework. It sucks, but it's worth it.
One thing I wish I knew before going into high school is definitely don't care what people think. I know it sounds cliche but it's so true. Freshman year I thought everyone was talking about me and laughing at me which caused my anxiety. But later realizing it was all in my head. To be honest, know one really cares about you except your friends and teachers.
Sometimes schools have a way to start your own club. If your school doesn't, you can always find clubs or activities outside of school, like in your community. I think colleges would view them the same way.
What I have learned is to not care so much about what people think. They aren't going go be in your life after you graduate so don't let them get to you.
Don't worry about drama and cliques. Don't care about what other people think. And don't care about guys and trying to be cool. Just be yourself and don't be stupid

ughh I'm going into 10th and I'm taking 3 AP's and all honors. I'm already stressed and I haven't even started school. My school only lets students take honors/AP courses if they score high on their end of the year exams.

A tip for homework, if you ever feel unmotivated to do it(i mean come on who wants to do homework) just give yourself a reward afterwards. For instance, say you have to do a workbook page, after you finish it you go get a bag of popcorn or a bowl of ice cream. I don't know if this is a good tip or not but it's just what I did my freshman year and I got straight A's so I think it works pretty well.
Freshman year when I had math and science in the same semester, I had homework almost every night but it was so easy to finish in class depending on what it is. Here's another tip: do your homework when you get home from school so you don't start it too late. This helps because sometimes homework takes longer than you think and if you start later on and it takes hours to do, then you're stuck doing it later into the night. And believe me, once high school starts you won't want to stay up till 12 or 1 if you have to get up at 6 in the morning to catch a bus. My freshman year I would put off my homework if I didn't feel like it and it would cause me to stress a lot.
so i've been on highschool for 3 years and i thouroughly agree with what keegan said..i'm one of the youngest in class and sometimes it's a little harder but i manage to get in that class! so my tip is always study everyday after school...dont take everything lightly even when you're on your first year❤️ goodluck people whose going to highschool!

Adding on to tips #3 and #4, please please please DO NOT, under ANY circumstances stress over friends. You can not be stressing over it. I WISH someone had told me that and spared me the stress and bullying, needless to say that after various experiences, the school year will end and you'll probably be able to count everyone you honestly truly trust on one hand. And I'm not saying this to scare anyone, in my personal experience, being yourself works so much better than searching for popularity because it just guarantees that you're gonna have a group of lifelong friends who you'll feel comfortable being around. Around 90% of my freshman year I spent with one group of friends, 5% of the time I hung out with another group and 5% I spent with whoever I saw. In percentages that seems like little but I'm a very very social person and I made lots of friends and in actuality those numbers are much higher, but at the end of my freshman year, I realized that I wasn't comfortable being myself with those group of friends who I'd always hang out with but when I confronted them about it, they broke off all ties with me. My closest friends who I spent a whole year with. My squad. That's when I realized that I wasn't about to stress it because I didn't wanna be friends with people who didn't wanna be friends with ME. It really showed me who my true friends were, and needless to say even though we spent less time together that year than my first group, I have found a group of girls who I would trust with my life and feel 100% comfortable being the oddball that i am with, judgement free. This leads up to my next point which is not everyone's gonna like you, and I spent the longest time caring about other's opinions of me until I realized that I can't change how they feel about me. Its not in my hands, its in theirs and they can either take it or leave it. Because baby girl lemme just say you are gorgeous, you are smart, you are the best thing to ever happen to anyone who comes across you and if someone doesn;t see that, 1) they a damn fool and 2) you're a babe who shouldn't be wasting your time on people who don't think you're worth theirs. I know this advice is much easier given than taken, and everyone has to find out what's right for them on their own, but if you're anything like me and don't take nobody's advice until you've fallen so many times on your own that you learn the lessons yourself, then good luck and have fun in high school because it isn't as bad as it seems once you get in.

Oh my gosh!! This video helped sooo much! I already knew to do volunteer work and get involved in sports and clubs and tutor etc. and take AP classes but I didn't know if I should do it early on so thank you!!!! I really want to get into UCLA and it's the #2 highest ranked public college in the US and u have to have like a 28-31ish ACT score and I got a 19 or 20 in 7th grade (last year). I'm realllllly nervous. My whole life dream is to live in LA and go to school there.😬 wish me luck for the next five years😂👍🏼💗

I'm graduating college soon and all I can say is try not to cram when you're in HS. Do your best to plan out everything. Cramming is the bad habit you wouldn't want to take to college! And don't rush getting out of HS. Make the most out of it!
I'm a sophomore but I'm just watching this because I love your videos so much😂.(I had a class online to help me w/ getting a class done in the future for medical school. That was my highest grade😂). I just keep adding to this but I have no friends anyways so it's ok😂✌️we all make it! I barely had homework and if I did, my school at he end of the day has something called PAWS. Last year it was an hour and this year it's 2 hours. So we'll have plenty of time to finish our homework!

I start my junior year on the 22nd. One more tip, don't overload yourself. Remember you are just one person. Take honors and AP classes and participate in clubs and sports, but don't take on too much. Evaluate the workload from your classes, then decide which clubs you join and how many clubs and sports you should do. For example, I've taken honors classes the past two years of high school, and I play soccer. Luckily, soccer at my school is a spring sport which is the time of year that the workload lessens. Overloading yourself sets you up for stress. All of this ties in with time management.
High school pretty much sucks. People talk so much shit. Ignore it bc babygirl ur so much better. DO NOT SLACK off in freshman year. Ur grades r important. Not drugs. Not boys. Not alcohol. Dont take what guys put you thru. Do take ap and honors. Try new things. Set goals
I'm a senior this year and a tip of mine is if you don't want to deal with drama, just ignore it. Maybe be there for advice if a friend has it or something, but it's not worth getting into if you can help it. There are so many people who claim they don't care what others think, but as soon as someone makes one bad comment, you see them on the ground fighting surrounded by other teenagers with their phones. So if you generally do not care, don't react.
Also if you're trying to talk to your friends or find a class, please move to the side of the hallway. It's quite frustrating when you're trying to go to a class on the other side of the school and the halls are already crowded enough and there are a group of people standing still IN THE MIDDLE of the hall pointing and chatting. If you can help it, move to the side.

Honestly school has become much easier for me when since I've become close with and known my school counselor. It's much easier for me to know your counselor so you can ask questions, ask about school requirements or schedule help, or just needing someone to talk to!

I'm going to be a senior too and you have really good tips!! The only thing I would say is about the first one. AP and honors classes "raise" your GPA, but most colleges when you apply will ask for your unweighted GPA, so just keep that in mind when your thinking "oh its cool, I only need a b." Not that a b is a bad grade, but just remember that your high school GPA may show it as an A, but colleges will still see it as a B

I'm going to be a senior in high school and I wish I had known how hard it is to bring up your GPA. I hit a bad rough patch and now it's hard to pick myself back up. Don't let your GPA fall, study and keep up with your homework. It sucks, but it's worth it.

One thing I wish I knew before going into high school is definitely don't care what people think. I know it sounds cliche but it's so true. Freshman year I thought everyone was talking about me and laughing at me which caused my anxiety. But later realizing it was all in my head. To be honest, know one really cares about you except your friends and teachers.
I would join clubs but there are no clubs that i'm interested in :/
Sometimes schools have a way to start your own club. If your school doesn't, you can always find clubs or activities outside of school, like in your community. I think colleges would view them the same way.

These tips were seriously so good! I go to high school in Norway, so obviously it is going to be a bit different (for instance we don't have clubs or school sports games) here, but still, the tips would have helped me out so much when i enterd high school. Especially the tip about your friend groups changing- it's so true!
ughh I'm going into 10th and I'm taking 3 AP's and all honors. I'm already stressed and I haven't even started school. My school only lets students take honors/AP courses if they score high on their end of the year exams.
I'm also nervous about going back to school because I really struggle on trying to make friends and I only have like two close friends to hangout .

I'm going to high school in like 4 or 5 weeks
A tip for homework, if you ever feel unmotivated to do it(i mean come on who wants to do homework) just give yourself a reward afterwards. For instance, say you have to do a workbook page, after you finish it you go get a bag of popcorn or a bowl of ice cream. I don't know if this is a good tip or not but it's just what I did my freshman year and I got straight A's so I think it works pretty well.

Freshman year when I had math and science in the same semester, I had homework almost every night but it was so easy to finish in class depending on what it is.
Here's another tip: do your homework when you get home from school so you don't start it too late. This helps because sometimes homework takes longer than you think and if you start later on and it takes hours to do, then you're stuck doing it later into the night. And believe me, once high school starts you won't want to stay up till 12 or 1 if you have to get up at 6 in the morning to catch a bus. My freshman year I would put off my homework if I didn't feel like it and it would cause me to stress a lot.

so i've been on highschool for 3 years and i thouroughly agree with what keegan said..i'm one of the youngest in class and sometimes it's a little harder but i manage to get in that class! so my tip is always study everyday after school...dont take everything lightly even when you're on your first year❤️ goodluck people whose going to highschool!

Adding on to tips #3 and #4, please please please DO NOT, under ANY circumstances stress over friends. You can not be stressing over it. I WISH someone had told me that and spared me the stress and bullying, needless to say that after various experiences, the school year will end and you'll probably be able to count everyone you honestly truly trust on one hand. And I'm not saying this to scare anyone, in my personal experience, being yourself works so much better than searching for popularity because it just guarantees that you're gonna have a group of lifelong friends who you'll feel comfortable being around. Around 90% of my freshman year I spent with one group of friends, 5% of the time I hung out with another group and 5% I spent with whoever I saw. In percentages that seems like little but I'm a very very social person and I made lots of friends and in actuality those numbers are much higher, but at the end of my freshman year, I realized that I wasn't comfortable being myself with those group of friends who I'd always hang out with but when I confronted them about it, they broke off all ties with me. My closest friends who I spent a whole year with. My squad. That's when I realized that I wasn't about to stress it because I didn't wanna be friends with people who didn't wanna be friends with ME. It really showed me who my true friends were, and needless to say even though we spent less time together that year than my first group, I have found a group of girls who I would trust with my life and feel 100% comfortable being the oddball that i am with, judgement free. This leads up to my next point which is not everyone's gonna like you, and I spent the longest time caring about other's opinions of me until I realized that I can't change how they feel about me. Its not in my hands, its in theirs and they can either take it or leave it. Because baby girl lemme just say you are gorgeous, you are smart, you are the best thing to ever happen to anyone who comes across you and if someone doesn;t see that, 1) they a damn fool and 2) you're a babe who shouldn't be wasting your time on people who don't think you're worth theirs. I know this advice is much easier given than taken, and everyone has to find out what's right for them on their own, but if you're anything like me and don't take nobody's advice until you've fallen so many times on your own that you learn the lessons yourself, then good luck and have fun in high school because it isn't as bad as it seems once you get in.
