What makes me mad is the pm paying 25 % tax and people paying 40% and he is on 166,000 plus his gifts and more total income £206,000 the way they are declaring themselves allegedly what they are getting paid and gifts etc if ordinary people did that we would be banged up for tax avoidance etc anything over £250 needs proper accounting and declaring on tax declarations etc and to top it off they think they can rob the people most in need on the pension it is not enough as it is they need the fuel allowance and people on single persons discount relying on it to survive during the cost of living crisis hoping during the next budget it won’t be taken away labour claim to be grass roots but have proven time and time again they are about as far away from grassroots as anyone can get

If you are able and know them well enough you could always offer to top their gas up for them if they need it. Pensioners have been protected against the cost of living since 2010 because of triple lock. Why are we pretending they are the only aspects of society struggling? We helped them as much as we could but consecutive governments have failed to invest in the infrastructure needed for this country to function. This is what happens when we measure a countries success solely on gdp.
What about the pensioners who are on basic pension, are able to claim attendance allowance through various illnesses but can't claim pension credit because their partner has not reached pension age. Basic pension plus attendance allowance equates to around £600 per month. How will they cope this winter?
I dont know but am about to find out now my husband who had dementia has died. Not having slept properly for years but suddenly loosing half your income and then having more taken away whilst millions goes abroad means i'll be in bed to try and keep warm

Pensioners have been protected against the cost of living since 2010 because of triple lock. Why are we pretending they are the only aspects of society struggling? We helped them as much as we could but consecutive governments have failed to invest in the infrastructure needed for this country to function. This is what happens when we measure a countries success solely on gdp.

What about the pensioners who are on basic pension, are able to claim attendance allowance through various illnesses but can't claim pension credit because their partner has not reached pension age.
Basic pension plus attendance allowance equates to around £600 per month. How will they cope this winter?

I dont know but am about to find out now my husband who had dementia has died. Not having slept properly for years but suddenly loosing half your income and then having more taken away whilst millions goes abroad means i'll be in bed to try and keep warm

Got an ageing population and unnecessary largesse will only prevent money from going to more productive areas in society. Time for Labour to turn the page and focus on wealth inequality. Arguing about cutting winter fuel payments for the wealthy is just a distraction not to focus on priority areas.
