- The École des Beaux-Arts in Paris was a major center of European artistic education in the 19th century, leaving a lasting mark on both architecture and art. Located in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, it was redesigned after the French Revolution on land where a former convent once stood. Architect Félix Duban, inspired by his travels to Rome, restructured the school by integrating both antique and Renaissance elements, creating a space that functioned as both a museum and a school. While teaching initially focused on copying masterworks and studying antique models, the pedagogy shifted after May 1968, moving away from classical arts to focus on multimedia.
