that's a really good review, i broke down and bought a GR1, it feels to me that most manufacturers make a good durable bag but goruck makes a very indestructible bag. they are very impressive when you actually handle one. thanks for the video, really great.
Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! The durability is definitely amazing on these (I have a gr1 as well and I loveeee it) and I’m glad to hear you have had a good experience with the bag!:)
I have had my GR2 since 2013 I have used it to travel all over the world and have takin it camping . I’ve used it as a bug out tool bag in my truck I’ve beat the hell out of it and it wasn’t until recently I bent a zipper . It was my fault I haven’t done any zipper maintenance or have cleaned it since if had it for over ten years. I’m sending it in for the scars warranty .
Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience with the bag! That’s great to hear you’ve gotten such great use out of it and that it has held up well!:)
Thank you for watching! So far I haven’t really had many issues with my clothes thankfully, but the material is super rugged so I can see how this might become an issue if you are using the bag with a lot of weight regularly with the same clothes!
When you’re loading heavier, I think the sternum strap is increases the comfort, keeping the shoulder straps from slipping from your shoulders. Also the additional waist belt when walking long distances or even all day in airports is indispensable. I’m surprised that more people don’t add them to their bags.
Thanks for the great video. Can you measure the true depth and dimensions of the main compartment of GR2 34L ? According to the specifications from the official website, the dimensions of GR2 34L are 12.5" W x 20.5 "H x 9" D, but I could not find the true depth of the main compartment of this bag.
I asked GoRuck themselves this exact question. Here is their answer: "The main compartment of the GR2 34L is 12"W x 20"H x 6"D. Keep in mind the compartment will stretch out a bit when fully packed too."
Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! And that’s great to hear, I may just need to continue to use it more often to help the straps form to me quicker haha
Thank you for watching and great question! Both are really great bags and have held up very well! For the price the recycled firefighter is really a great deal and I actually prefer the straps on it and the front compartment a little bit more. With that being said the goruck does feel a little more rugged (assuming there are no big changes from their recent production move to Vietnam )and like it offers better support. It has a really solid frame sheet which makes it better for holding a heavier load and I also think the laptop area offers better protection since it has a false bottom. The molle weening on the gr1 also as a nice amount of flexibility that you don't get with the other one. So if price is a bit factor the recycled firefighter is definitely the way to go and you'll be getting a great bag but if you want more durability and flexibility the gr1 may be a little better. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bags:)
Thank you for watching and good question! Unfortunately the GR2 will be a little too big to fit comfortably under most airplane seats. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer!:)
Thank you for watching and good question! I think it would look ok, you are pretty close to my height and altho i prefer a bag with a smaller silhouette when im traveling with one bag I think the 40L would look too big. It should fit ok on most airlines as you said, the only thing i would keep an eye on is the weight. Goruck bags are pretty heavy even when empty so if you fill it up completely and they weigh it when you are walking onto a flight for whatever reason they may ask you to check it. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag =)
Thank you for watching and good question! It’s tough to say as everyone will have different preferences on how a bag looks for their height, but I would say this might look a little big for day to day use but should still look ok for traveling. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag:)
Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! I'm glad the video was helpful! The pouch I showed in the video is from Orca Tactical and I have added a link for it in the description now =) Please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag!
It was a limited release on that one. I believe they only made 300 to sell. I ended up getting one of the 26L GR2 bags. Love them for the comfort of the straps and how high they sit on my back without pulling down when carrying for any distances.
Thank you for watching! If you will be using this for EDC regularly the 26l may be a little bit too tall (it’s the same height as the GR2 featured in this video, it just doesn’t have that second compartment). It will definitely depend on your preference as well, but for the 21L has been the way to go, perfect for my edc and I can get away with using it for shorter trips if needed :)
Thank you for watching and that’s definitely a fair concern especially taking this internationally. I do like the extra durability you get and so far since the bag has a fairly small profile I haven’t been asked to weigh it while traveling
The limited lifetime warranty and being made in the United States are the two reasons I bought this. I found it incredibly difficult to find a bag that was an EDC made in America.
Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience! I definitely agree that price is alot to ask haha I haven't noticed too big of an issue on my back when wearing most of my shirts but i have a few shorter ones where i have felt the bag rubbing against my back and I can definitely see how that would be uncomfortable!
GORUCK has since changed the material on their back padding after feedback from athletes. The 2022 model onwards has been tested with thousands of ruckers/athletes and doesn't seem to cause the same chafing problems.
Thank you for watching! I haven’t had a chance to try the 26l out, it’s been hard to get my hands on one but as soon as they restock I will be working hard to get it for a review!:)
Thank you for watching and for sharing the price drop! Hopefully this will make it easier for GR2 to compete against a lot of the other popular travel bags!
Thank you for watching! I’m not sure about that exact laptop but I think the compartment is going to be a pretty tight fight for most thicker gaming laptops. Even if you could squeeze it in it might create uncomfortable bulges that might press up against your back while wearing or if you packed the main storage area a lot it could create a lot of pressure on your screen. Hope that helps a bit and please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help answer about the bag!:)
Thank you for watching and for the feedback! And that’s a fair point, the weight is definitely one of the consistent knocks I’ve seen for Goruck bags especially for travel, but the peace of mind you get with the durability seems to be what makes it worth it for a little of the people that choose to buy them, at least for me that’s how I justify it haha :)
@@jeevang7853 because that would raise the price of the pack dramatically. It would make more sense from a business perspective to offer you he plates as an option.

What is your opinion on the abrasive 1000D cordura that comes with the goruck? Do you have any issues with your clothes?
Thank you for watching! So far I haven’t really had many issues with my clothes thankfully, but the material is super rugged so I can see how this might become an issue if you are using the bag with a lot of weight regularly with the same clothes!
Legend of a bag !!
Thank you for watching! And totally agree, it has definitely continued to hold up amazingly well!:)

Thank you for watching and I definitely agree on the sternum strap for heavier weights!:)
‘Traveling Salsero’ patch ? Would look nice on that GoRuck
Thank you for watching and I definitely agree! Haha I’ve been wanting to get a patch like that for a while! :)
Thanks for the great video. Can you measure the true depth and dimensions of the main compartment of GR2 34L ?

Nice overview. The straps soften and form to you as you wear it.
Thank you for watching and for the positive feedback! And that’s great to hear, I may just need to continue to use it more often to help the straps form to me quicker haha
How does Goruck hold up against the 24 hr Recycled Firefighter bag at the same 21 liter size?

Does it fit under the airplane seats?

Do you think 40l on 5'11" (181cm) would be to big? Looking carryon EU regulations on most airlines should not be a problem. Thx

Traveling Salseros thank you. Would be nice to see comparison video including both bags on your back.
I’m 6’1” 240lbs. My GR2 34L is huge. A 40L would be massive. Get the 34L it’ll be worth and it’s big enough.
Would you think this would be too much for a person who is 5foot 8 inches tall?
Thank you for watching and good question! It’s tough to say as everyone will have different preferences on how a bag looks for their height, but I would say this might look a little big for day to day use but should still look ok for traveling. Great video. Can you provide a link to or name of the utility bag you strapped to the bottom of your gr2? Thanks!

They’ve discontinued the 26l gr2 (I emailed them about a month ago) which is a bummer.
Thank you for watching and for sharing that update! That’s so sad I was really excited to check that one out at some point!:(
It was a limited release on that one. I believe they only made 300 to sell. I ended up getting one of the 26L GR2 bags. Love them for the comfort of the straps and how high they sit on my back without pulling down when carrying for any distances.
I consider the gr1 21l and 26l. I'm 5'9'', 163lbs. My torso length is 18''. My purpose is for EDC and minimal travel. Do you have any advice? Thanks.
Thank you for watching! If you will be using this for EDC regularly the 26l may be a little bit too tall (it’s the same height as the GR2 featured in this video, it just doesn’t have that second compartment). @@dannypacks Thanks so much. May I know your torso length? Btw hope you do a review on gr1 26l slick version from huckberry in the future :)))
Great review, thank you!

This looks like a good size, but the weight is a problem for me. I would like something a bit lighter. 😃
Thank you for watching and that’s definitely a fair concern especially taking this internationally. I do like the extra durability you get and so far since the bag has a fairly small profile I haven’t been asked to weigh it while traveling

I was going to say Vertx is also an amazing bag, but they are made in Indonesia. Sad.
This model isn't made in USA anymore. None of the Black ones are.
I have the 34.. it's a good bag but not worth the new increased price.. and I find that the lower part of the bag chafes against the lower back.

Thank you for watching! I haven’t had a chance to try the 26l out, it’s been hard to get my hands on one but as soon as they restock I will be working hard to get it for a review!:)
Price is now $375 for GR2 34L
Thank you for watching and for sharing the price drop! Hopefully this will make it easier for GR2 to compete against a lot of the other popular travel bags!
Does anyone know if this would fit a Alienware R5 2018 17 inch in their laptop compartment?
Thank you for watching! I’m not sure about that exact laptop but I think the compartment is going to be a pretty tight fight for most thicker gaming laptops. 🎒 👍🏻
Any backpack more than 26L I rather use carryon luggage with wheels. Too much weight on the back.
Thank you for watching and definitely a fair point, bags above that size range can definitely start to wear on the back
I really don’t get the hype. It is massively overpriced…
$400??!!! LOL
These GORUCK bags don't rally make sense because of the weight. A travel bag over 2kg when it's empty??
Thank you for watching and for the feedback! And that’s a fair point, the weight is definitely one of the consistent knocks I’ve seen for Goruck bags especially for travel, but the peace of mind you get with the durability seems to be what makes it worth it for a little of the people that choose to buy them, at least for me that’s how I justify it haha :)
These bags are purpose built for rucking and workouts. Hence the heavier weight compared to other ordinary packs.
