This plane seems to suffer from a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's so overtiered that only good players fly it out so the stats remain relatively good keeping the BR and repair cost inflated.
I consider myself a pretty good pilot, i have 70% wr in good jets, yet i am not flying this out until i have to reasearch something that will come out in the italian tree
Yeah I'm one of those pilots. I have a KD of almost 3 in it because I know how to fly it, plus there are lots of dumb pilots out there that make themselves easy target. The only reason why I stopped is because of the ludicrous repair cost.
This plane is just sad in the current meta. It's barely a Sabre anymore. The guns & AIM-9Bs are the only reason why I'd choose this over the CL-13A since its not stuck with the .50 cals that requires a pretty long gun time at 9.3. Speaking of which, maybe you can try to make a review on the CL-13B (9.7). It'd be interesting to know your thoughts on it.
The slow cyclic rate is due to a bug with the M24s, since the F89B carries guns with the same designation (even though they are supposed to be T31s - 20mm cannons with the correct 750rpm it has right now) So, since Gaijin had the amazing idea to name the cannons on the Scorpion the same as the ones on the Sabre Dog, when they "fixed" the cyclic rate on the Scorpion's guns, they broke the ones on the Sabre Dog, rendering it even MORE useless right now. TL:DR - Spaghetti code and lazy devs just shat on the grave of this dead plane

If you don't want to do that, just shut off the afterburner In my experience most fighters will not extreme overload in turns like that with the afterburner off, especially the F11
@@Wolfstorm141 well if you keep turning if the indicator continuously shouts "extreme overload" at your face for a good 15-20 seconds and you still keep turning then a smart choice is to either 1. stop turning so damn hard or 2. stop afterburning and reduce throttle if necessary with my experience with sabers they often have a good amount of time warning you of a over-g before snapping :)

I spaded this thing in Italy, against my better judgment. It was an absolute nightmare. Constantly up-tiered to 10.0 or 10.3, missiles were almost useless, and wing rips were so inconsistent that I'd do a maneuver I'd just done multiple times under the same conditions, only to be met with instant death. Speed hits a brick wall where your enemies won't, maneuverability is a joke against most planes you'll fight, and you can't even rely on the guns to get instant kills like others in that BR bracket. One of the worst planes I've ever used in War Thunder, and it made me rethink my desire to spade every plane in Italy quite a few times. Luckily, I'll never touch it again until I get there in France or Germany.
When the cons are literally twice as much as the pros... I still enjoy the plane though as much as it suffers, its still fun when you do hit those 9.0-9.3 games.
The F-86 F40 at 9.3 also is quite a struggle bus. Yes it gets missiles yay but in the current meta and constant uptiers you are support at best. When I compare it to the Mig-19 or the Harrier at 9.7, this doesn’t feel like 0.4 BR difference 😄

9.0+ BR Sabres are simply overtiered. The highest BR for a Sabre should be 9.3 with top tier being expanded to at least 12.0, but preferably 13.0 or more.
In my experience the F86 K can actually be a fairly decent plane if you know how to use it. I've gotten quite good with the guns and if you are conservative about your missiles you can easily get 2-3 kills
One thing that someone suggested for planes that rip in dogfights (i had a lot of problems in g91 and sabres) is to switch off the new boosters mod, sacrificing a bit of high speed mobility for less of a chance of being actually able to pull maneuvers that will kill the plane.
I love this plane when I play Germany it's fun and a break from mig 21/ f4 matches but gets slammed by those same planes I think if they added up to br 15.0 and spread things out 9.3 or 9.7 even would fit well but currently? It's just not Fly able in any way other then to play for a match or 2

And it turned from a plane I wasnt looking forward to, to one I ended up enjoying quite alot. yes you dont have many or great missiles, but you have some. the Guns I found to be VERY VERY nice, they really pack a punch, and they aren't too hard to aim. after burner is always nice to have the wing snapping, I never really found to be an issue. the radar is okay. Its looks really grew on me. Back then the BR was OKAY, not GREAT but not THE WORST. so this planes gets a thumps up in my book. this comes from someone who is..... terrible in planes.
I really liked flying it, but whenever I got a downtier, I would get stomped on. Can't turn, can't run, holds no energy Compared to the supersonic jets, I'm godly.
This thing was a mega brick over a year ago. I think it can work as a dogfighter a lot better now with all the fat planes that dump energy, but i haven't really given it a shot in a while due to the repair cost.

I never had a problem with wing ripping when I played, I never applied the new boosters mod, it fixes wing rip issues on all sabers. Shame about the br compression in the 9.0-10.0 range these days... I wanna take it back out but I don't want to crush my memories of doing really well in it :(

There is not much logic to the repair costs for same plane in different trees. *Personally I think that's because of the win rate differences between the countries.*
Just got this and played 10 matches. Extreme mental anguish. This is probably one of the only planes in my italy air tree to have a negative KD, aside frkm bombers and attackers. Theres mig21s everywhere and when i do get a lineup shot wither the ROF is too low and doesnt hit or planes simply evade my guns because of how hard i compress. I've found missiles to be useful mainly against AI planes, bombers, and generally unaware people. This thing makes me wanna crush my nuts with a hammer. It'd be more pleasant than playing this total brick
G'day Tim, While the F-86K is in a terrible spot with a horrible repair at least it has a nice radar.... To bad with how ARB works that's pointless ntm the stupid orders & highlighted zones making a 40km search radar pointless, Ohh how I wish they could remore orders an nametags so radar could be more useful. On the topic of radar while it would be nice if the devs modelled cockpit radar it would still be a pointless addition due to the big green UI radar one cannot disable, still if they modelled radar stations that would be definitely fun to use. Back to the Sabre Dogs I currently have one model an it's of the FAF yet barely use it due to A, the repair & B, the MM uuugh one day it'll be useful in ARB or one day I'll get back into ASB as there I've heard it's somewhat better in it's roles but then again that's also due to the EC forumla.

It's 9.0 now, it's still just as awful to play. No more Magics, but every game is full of planes that can both out turn and out speed you, and there's still radar missiles. Plus 12k stock repair so you hemorrhage SL.
The ripping is exacerbated by you using the mouse to turn. Heavy rudder and aileron usage together with high load factor leads to quick ripping, even on planes with the mig19, where a flat turn wouldnt lead to ripping. This plane rips in a flat turn at sea level tho @~900kph, so try to use keyboard input to low lower your turn rate. TLDR: skill issue

Try taking off the upgrade “new booster”. I have found that this helps prevent pulling into fatal maneuvers at higher speeds…….
Yup, I’ve found taking off new boosters help me rip less across all Sabres too

One step in br behind the f105 which is mach 2 capable, has twice as many USEFUL missles , a better gun with more ammo ECT ECT ect.
Taking off the new boosters modification, makes so the leading edges dont deploy at high speeds and reduces wing rips SIGNIFICANTLY
All g91s also have that problem

In my experience the F86 K can actually be a fairly decent plane if you know how to use it. I've gotten quite good with the guns and if you are conservative about your missiles you can easily get 2-3 kills

Did they change the flight model?! I never have wing breaks. But it turns like a very heavy brick and is not maneuverable at all.

Since they "corrected" afterburners, I usually take the middle load.
