ABOUT THE TEMPO: The original track was NOT recorded to a metronome, and I played to a drumless version of the song. This means that the original song's tempo is all over the place, and I could not set a metronome og even lean towards the original drum track.
When you started doing Lombardo I tried hard to contain the laughter; I was in a place that wasn't appropriate for loud laughing. I couldn't contain it. If i'd been drinking something at the time, it would have blasted straight out of my nose.
Endless fills, standing and messing with the crowd, snare+cymbal attacks, facial expressions, out of tempo. The only thing missing was omnipresent China attacks haha And nice job with the styles.
+hyper biscuit Probably, because to a musician it's really obvious. But can you not just hear when you supposed to be headbanging and suddenly it just is not right? Usually it's pretty instinctual.
seriously? of course people here know how triplet sounds... but still... he's off tempo. listen carefully and you can definitely hear him rushing sometimes.
He was off tempo because the original wasn't recorded to a metronome. The tempo of the original song is all over the place, so there was no way for him to actually stay with it without speeding up and slowing down. He explained it in a comment above, but I figured anyone who has ever tried to play along with Teen Spirit already knew that.
Dude, that was AMAZING! !! I'm actually very impressed! !!! I've listened to ALL drummers you impersonated, and I would feel safe in saying that you really nailed it !!! Enjoy YOUR drumming also to be honest. Nice style !!!! Reminds me, of. . . . . . ME !!! lol cheers !!!!#
Yeah the last part definitely highlights the tempo being all over the place. Guess it wasn't my fault for not staying in sync trying to learn this as a beginner after all!
Came here for Smells Like Lars Spirit it's bloody hilarious! But Phil Rudd tops it by far. Mad respect for this insane variety in his take on SLTS! O.O
Watching videos like this one makes me remember how solid Grohl is. Really authentic fellow. You're a really good drummer and this video is really good!!!!
The AC-DC one was painful to listen to. It make me long for a kick on the upbeat. This was great! Also, tbh, if I could be as good as you, much less Lars, I'd take that any day. Cause both of those are pretty darn good.
Those were crazy fills with the lars ulrich one (drum intro and before the chorus) .They seemed slower but they ended on time. Were those 5th notes or some kind of modulation?
I think it was just a 16th note triplet followed by some 8th note triplets. What makes it sound special is that a throw in a couple of accents :) It's a pretty cool fill that Lars plays a lot live
i have a question dude....i have that same metalworks snare and i love it but i've found it sucks for recording because of an annoying ring from the metal shell that can drive you insane and and tuning and heads are hit or miss in helping to cut down on it so i usually resort to a ludwig wood shell but i love the crack from the tama better. you have any problems with this or advice in dealing with it? badass drumming btw
Steel drums generally have tons of ring, especially when you play rimshots on them. For recording with close mics, I generally tune the bottom head a bit lower and put on a bit of muffling on the top head :) but steel drums are always quite aggressive

Dave Grohl must have been drunk when he recorded this lol
Frederik Weile Lars said that the tempo is ok 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I saw an og
you can quantize it
It was of tempo?
came here for the Lars impression, was not disappointed
Thanks, bearded Morty!
That double kick was so right
I am. He forgot the Trash can
came back a year later, still not disappointed 😂
I wonder what it would sound like if that guy from the Foo Fighters gave it a try. I heard he was a drummer.
I don't know man, I really can't imagine how that would sound! Guess we'll never know lol
If you talking about the singer he was the drummer for Nirvana
Bobbi Waddell 🤦♂️
WHOOOOOOOOOSH
Bobbi Waddell That's the joke man, but I would to see Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters take on this song.
The best thing about reproducing Lars is that you don't have to be afraid to fail
You shouldn't be afraid to fail at all. Sometimes fails can sound really cool.
Lars don't fail often.
Yup
i just do what he is
That's how great Lars is. You can't tell whether it's a fail or it's what he wanted to do...
massive plot hole, the drummer doesn't change, its the same drummer in the whole vid
Lol nice one
That was like one of the top ten anime plot twist in watchmojos list
00:15 Lars Ulrich
01:45 Mike Portnoy
03:14 Dave Lombardo
04:44 Frederik Weile
06:15 Phil Rudd
thanks but i wanna actually watch this guy and help him cause he's a small channel but really talented
the lars one was a bit off, you hit too many notes on point
Robin Bauer thats what lars do.. mostly.
The Lars One was actually way off. He usually goes for china or crash hits on 2.
The guy is soooooo good. I am sure he did this on purpose.
@@th6n yeah this guy is good. But Lars oooh god
Yeah Lars doesn't really do like 16th or 32nd note snare rolls anymore.

Every time someone says he's off tempo, I get confused, because I can't hear it. Maybe I'm just really bad at hearing whether their timing is off.
+hyper biscuit Probably, because to a musician it's really obvious. But can you not just hear when you supposed to be headbanging and suddenly it just is not right? Usually it's pretty instinctual.
It wasn't off tempo, you should know what means polyrhythm - triplets over straight beat.

The Mike Portnoy one was fucking kick-ass dude. I'd actually listen to a full cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit with his style.
agreed
Yea but what about Dave Grohl from the foo’s. Heard he is kinda good.
Nirvana Freak Best Comment
Erik Ireland Jesus, was it that good? 😂
He kinda looks like the Nirvana's drummer, too, but he probably is just his son, because he shot himself to head :`( RIP Freddie van Osbourne
@@BAGELS69 no he wasnt.. He was the ex bassist of Black sabbath smh
Luckyboy94 r u guys dumb he was the bassist for nickelbacl
I didn't know 2012 PewDiePie played drums. *kappa*
(edit: holy shit this is my most liked comment ever dafuq)
2043 pewdiepie invented a time machine and transported 2012 pewdiepie to 2018 to start a drumming channel
TailsDollGamerIII same bro 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
hahahaha holy shit I thought the same thing xDD
TailsDollGamerIII I knew that something was wrong 🤣🤣🤣
bro 262 is not nearly high enough for an edit speech.
Lars needed like 300% more snare and getting off tempo like 2 times:p
Great video! Awesome ability to change between the styles. Lol at the Phil Rudd part!
Too true Rudd
Andrew O he did to much still .Rudd is the most boring drummer alive
Kristijan Jurisic After me ! 😁
That was the funniest one to me! 😂😂😂 he litterally does the same thing the whole time!
You did the double bass part from one haha. Or basically, haha that was surprisingly funny!
I love how you used different songs for Lars
This was so much better than I thought it would be! I actually laughed out loud at the Portnoy part.
That unnecessarily long and simple fill at the chorus was just on point
Lol great vid! ....when asked what was different about their new album AC/DC replyed..the cover 😂
I just discovered your channel, love the stuff you’re doing. Keep it up.
That single ride bell hit (2:43) after the crazy Portnoy rumble fill was laugh out loud. Well done, man.
The intense polyrhythms and insane blast beats at 6:19 were my favourite bits
Lol
It's awesome how you can change the song by using different drumming styles, tempos etc. It was interesting to watch.
This made me laugh more than it should have, great vid as always!
lombardo was so raining blood - it was stomping in my ear :) - nice job!
Yeah the last part definitely highlights the tempo being all over the place. Guess it wasn't my fault for not staying in sync trying to learn this as a beginner after all!
Dave Lombardo....awesome dude! Thank you for entertaining us!!!
Mike portnoy one is great
Yeas
Totally fits. His own version is great too.
wow all of the impressions were spot on 👍 (especially Lars Ulrich's)
Coming back to an old vid, you earned 3k in an instant!! Wow!! You are awesome man
These videos are always satisfying to watch for some reason lol
Sooo glad you like them!
Dave Lombardo made me LOL 😂, Very good impersonator !
That was fun. And you tear it up on the drums man. Excellent.
Such an awesome video. Thanks.
your version was actually really interesting. good job on that!
Pissed myself with the Phil Rudd version haha! Nice work 😂😂
Came here for Smells Like Lars Spirit it's bloody hilarious!
But Phil Rudd tops it by far. Mad respect for this insane variety in his take on SLTS! O.O
Lol
Awesome video - well done!
haha very funny I love it especialy that slayer part killed it! :D
HAHAHA You nailed it. That was great, man!
The Mike Portnoy one surprisingly sounded fuckin' badass! Keep up the good work!
For me the Best part is when you play the drums I like that
Watching videos like this one makes me remember how solid Grohl is. Really authentic fellow.
You're a really good drummer and this video is really good!!!!
I would love to know what sorcery you used to attain drumless tracks so that I may one day be as entertaining as you.
Just searched 'smells like teen spirit drumless' here on UA-cam :)
Darn. I was hoping for a magic wand that would take Lars Ulrich's drums out of St. Anger so I could redo them for my amusement.
one thing your missing on the lombardo, double time that hihat! also dont forget that ride!
The ACDC's style is so funny in this song. Thanks a lot for this video.
I pissed myself laughing!!!!!! That was awesome!!!!! Cheers
What about St Anger Lars?
That's honestly a fantastic idea; might do that at some point!
I'd love to see that, not because I hate it, I honestly like that drum sound. it's not my favorite, but it's really unique.
Update: St. Anger Lars will be in the next video, that I'll be recording today! ;)
Frederik Weile St. Anger style vídeo?? I subscribe right now!!
you will need to find some tin cans for the snare
Amazing drumming mate Greetings grim Deutschland!
KEEP IT UP
Im probably the worlds biggest AC/DC fan and the phil impression was spot on, except missing a little more crash 😂
What would it sound like if the main guy from the Foo Fighters did it? He looks just like nirvanas drummer
He kinda looks like the drummer from Them Crooked Vultures too!
The mike portnoy one is actually pretty damn good
This was awesome!
This video shows how much different drumbeat changes in this same song
Cool!! and i liked your version. Greetings from Brazil.
Thanks!
Great vid, I love drumming =D
Ol’ boy from AC/DC lol spot-on perfection. great job
The AC-DC one was painful to listen to. It make me long for a kick on the upbeat.
This was great!
Also, tbh, if I could be as good as you, much less Lars, I'd take that any day. Cause both of those are pretty darn good.
"Is Lars the best drummer?"
"What? He's not even the best drummer in metallica?"
*HETFIELD DRUMMING INTENSIFIES*
This is great. I subbed.
Nailed it for Phil rudd
Those were crazy fills with the lars ulrich one (drum intro and before the chorus)

I think it was just a 16th note triplet followed by some 8th note triplets. What makes it sound special is that a throw in a couple of accents :) It's a pretty cool fill that Lars plays a lot live
it might sound wierd but my favourite one is the phill rudd one
Well if it ain't broke, don't fix it
Too good dynamic for lars
You should do a dream theater song that mile mangini recorded and play how you think mike Portnoy would have played it.
Meant to say mike mangini not mile mangini
That's actually a great idea!
Rudd always mouths his count out whenever he doesn’t have a smoke in.
LOL The Mike Portnoy one was the best. It made me laugh. I could totally see him doing that
Phil needed like 20 more unused drums
Wierd to hear Mike portnoy not playing in 223/16
this video is gold!
Well.. I was not let down by his impression 😂
Transposing the key to avoid the stupid copyright bots. Smart
Yup! It's sad that it has to be that way, though
4:50 was interesting
How do you not have more subs?!
Tell your friends about me and I might get some more 😁
insane drumm man
It's cool dude, Like really cool. And i, personally, woud like to see Meg White, any time soon. But why there is no bass?
I actually recorded a Meg White version for my video on Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid', but I accidentally deleted it :( D'oh!
Meh, Shit happends, it's ok. Just won't delete something important next time. And i'm really waiting for new video.
I think I learned my lesson, lol. I'll upload a video in a few days where I'm playing a Metallica song in different genres, so stay tuned for that! :)
I like the style of the drummer from Tales of the attic i think "me!" is his name never heard of him before
He's really cool, but he's super weird
dude your fucking hilarious and dead on accurate lol
i have a question dude....i have that same metalworks snare and i love it but i've found it sucks for recording because of an annoying ring from the metal shell that can drive you insane and and tuning and heads are hit or miss in helping to cut down on it so i usually resort to a ludwig wood shell but i love the crack from the tama better. you have any problems with this or advice in dealing with it? badass drumming btw

thanks for the reply man...ill try it out
That drumset is f*cking epic
I love it so much!
what an amazing exercise man.
I was laughing so hard at the Lombardo part. :D
hahahah! Lars Ulrich´s part was the intro of Enter Sandman
Love the lombardo impression! Makes the song so much more metal!
great portnoy love it
As far as I dig Dave's drumming on this track, your version was really nice.
Thanks!
Man you rock! You made a subscriber out of me.
Thanks man! It means a lot to me that people enjoy my videos :)
This video pushed me over the edge as well! The entire video was awesome lol
I wonder what it would sound like if the drummer from Green Day, Tré Cool gave it a try!? 🤟🏻
Cameron here for Lars... Missed ride/china rolls... Have a good fun!
I know you had to make the song itself lower to avoid copyright, and I don't blame you. But it still killed me inside. 😂😂
HEY IT'S AMAZING! I WITH YOU
it really was fun!!
🤣😂🤣😂 when you did AC/DC you were spot on
Lmao that "TING" killed me
lmao that 2 bar drum fill
Sooooooooo well done
can you do a the rev impresion from a7x
I did it on my video for Black Sabbath’s ‘Paranoid’ :)
Cool concept really. Id actually love to see a serious take on this
I looked away right before lombardo's impersonation and once I heard dat double bass I knew
At first I thoght you ain’t nice about Larsing, but soooo fine with Ruddin’ ! Gained a sub dude!
