hey there, I've been binging all your content lately and felt somewhat inspired and want to do my own pokeman openings down the line, would you have any tips if i were to do so?! (sorry if this is a bit random and annoying btw)

Believe it or not, I think this is the first time a YT viewer asked me for advice about starting their own unboxing channel. Keep in mind I'm not even at 2k subs, so I'm not exactly a success story lol.
      General UA-cam tips:
-DON'T fall for any "sub for sub" crap. All that does is lead to dead subs, which just hurts your channel. You'll also end up as one of the UA-cam horror stories of people who fall for it, and suddenly all of their comments are "SUB FOR SUB!". It's a scam, and it will kill your channel.
-View/sub botting is against TOS, and will result in the same issues as above.
-Thumbnails are probably the most important thing to learn. You will have to learn some photoshop skills (or free alternatives, screw paying for photoshop). I spend about as long making my thumbnails as I do editing the video itself, sometimes longer lol.
-Call-to-actions actually do help a lot, but they also annoy people. Probably save the "like, sub, etc" until the end of the vid. I need to work on making mine not take so long.
-Don't have a "small UA-camr" mindset. As in, don't think "Well I can't post on Fridays, that's when all of the big youtubers upload, and I won't get views" that not how that works. I learned that the hard way. Self-deprecating humor on thumbnails, titles, and in videos can be funny, but it also doesn't really inspire people to stick around.
-Despite what I said above, you still have to know your audience. If your sub count/view count is low, doing viewer-interactive content won't work out. I learned that with a very sad Twitch stream back in the day lol.
-As you start getting videos out, check your stats often. Learn what your viewers like, what times they are on UA-cam (there is a metric for that), etc.
-Don't get upset if a video doesn't perform well. It may have just been skipped over by the algorithm. I've had some videos stick at 10 views for a month before shooting up. Some don't.
-Shorts can be a great way to bring in new people and new subs, but you'll want to decide early if you want to be a Shorts Primary channel, or a Video Primary channel. If all of your views are coming from Shorts, and they are not going over to you main videos, your shooting yourself in the foot. After learning that, I started looking at Shorts as a fun way to grow, but I keep it on the back burner for when I have free time.
-If you promote your content somewhere, don't be annoying, or violate a site's TOS. A huge help for me early on was joining a small Pokemon Discord, that ended up growing to a few hundred members. I would post some of my videos in their "self promo" page, which helped bring some people in.
-Don't expect a ton of views on your first videos. The algorithm takes time to learn what your content is all about, and what audience it should be put in front of. More than likely, you won't get many views at all for awhile.
-UA-cam promotes consistency. The more uploads the better, but being consistent is also huge. I post twice a week, and any time I break that up, my views start to fall. Figure out what works best for you realistically, not ideally.
      Video Creation tips:
-Be yourself. If you fake your personality, your just selling your soul for views, and people can see that.
-You don't need an expensive set to get started. My first videos on this channel were filmed with a crappy lav mic on my bedroom dresser, with awful lighting, yet I still had viewers. Make upgrades slowly. You don't need a top-of-the-line XLR microphone, and good USB mic will work great if you can learn how to tweak it (compressors, expanders, etc.). More than likely, the phone in your pocket will have a more than good enough camera, just pick up a tripod or 2.
-Experiment. Even if your idea fails, or doesn't get clicks, experimentation is how you evolve. This channel started off as an experiment that I didn't expect to work out, but it quickly passed my original channel.
-A complex video editor will probably just slow you down, unless your already well-versed with it. I've tried many of the options (DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere, etc.), and they all lead to a lot more work for the same quality video. Unboxing/opening videos are not complex, so you don't need a powerhouse software to make them. (I've been using Movavi Video Editor 15 Plus for years. It's not the best, certainly has it's glitches, but works best for me.)
      TCG Specific tips:
-DON'T cut out when you are opening the pack. There was a trend with UA-camrs faking their openings by slipping in good cards to packs, and acting like they opened them. It may look like your doing that if you cut the parts of the video when the pack is being opened, to when you show the last card. If there is awkward silence, just speed up that part of the video, or add something on screen.
-Putting card values on screen is a big thing that viewers love, because otherwise they may want to research it themselves to see how big of a pull something was, and that's basically asking them to do work. I use TCG player for 99% of my on-screen values.
-Don't worry about being the first person to have a video out on a new product, because you won't be. Larger content creators get deals for these kinds of things, and have the time to push that video out. I still try to get them out pretty quick, but I don't stress about it anymore.
-Don't go broke for content. It's likely to be a long time till you start making money from UA-cam to start subsidizing your costs. I still haven't made a penny from UA-cam. Search for deals.
Just have fun with it, UA-cam is a grind. Don't start off with expectations to "make it", because statically, you won't. Don't let content creation cause breakdowns in your personal life. I've been working as an arcade technician for 8 years, and just accepted a promotion to IT. If I had the expectation to "make it" on UA-cam any time soon, then I wouldn't be working that hard on my own career. Just grind it out, enjoy your time with it, and hope that one day you could make it.
Sorry for the wall of text, but now I have something to copy/paste to anyone who asks me for tips in the future lol. I'm a huge nerd for this kind of stuff, so if you have any questions, please ask.

@@JunkSeeker my camera is a photo camera and not a video one, so it only films at either 1080 res 30fps, or 720 res and 60 fps, what one would be better for youtube?

@@simplybecca6959 1080p 30fps should do fine. 60fps would make things look more fluid, but your also losing detail by going to 720p.

@djdannydan1203 the meta deck only uses 2 gardivour ex, the scream tail seems to be missing, no ace spec card I prefer the unfair stamp. Most decks also run 4 arven and 4 iono for the tm evolution and 2x Bravery Charm.
Also missing munkidori and some dark energy.
Deck is all about getting a gardivour set up. Discard all your Psychic Energy and put it on your driftloon or screamtail using gardivour ex to put as many damage counters as possible on them so you can do huge damage to 2x prize cards.

I was waiting for this! I've bought this last week and made modified it for my first upcoming tournament.
    Edit:
And for Gardevoirs ability: you play all around it, Drifloon is your first attacker thanks to it's attack which does 30 per it's damage. It's pretty neat ability, when you combine it with Alakazam ex, who can attack from bench imo.
